1. A system for identifying an unknown biological particle in a sample medium, said system comprising:
an Electrophoretic Quasi-elastic Light Scattering (EQELS) spectrometer comprising an EQELS controller configured to generate a EQELS spectrum for the biological particle in the sample medium, wherein said biological particle comprises a biological cell;
an EQELS analyzer in communication with said EQELS spectrometer;
a reference database in communication with said EQELS analyzer, said reference database comprising a plurality of spectra, each of said plurality of spectra corresponding to an EQELS spectrum for one of a plurality of different types of known biological cells;
wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to compare said EQELS spectrum for the unknown biological particle in the sample medium from said EQELS spectrometer with said plurality of spectra from said reference database and to identify the unknown biological particle in the sample medium from the comparison.
2. The system of claim 1, wherein said biological cell is a microbe selected from the group consisting of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and protozoa.
3. The system of claim 1, wherein said EQELS spectrum comprises a first EQELS spectrum, and said EQELS spectrometer further comprises:
a sample chamber configured to receive the sample medium;
a sample modification system in communication with said sample chamber and configured to modify the sample; and
wherein said EQELS spectrometer controller is configured to modify the sample with said sample modification system after detecting said first EQELS spectrum and to detect a second EQELS spectrum after modifying the sample;
wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to compare said first EQELS spectrum to said second EQELS spectrum to characterize the biological particle in the sample medium from the comparison.
4. The system of claim 3, wherein said sample modification system is configured to add an antibody to said sample medium, wherein the antibody is a specific binder to a predetermined biological particle, and wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to determine if the biological particle in the sample medium is the predetermined biological particle from the comparison of said first EQELS spectrum to said second EQELS spectrum.
5. The system of claim 3, wherein said modification system is configured to modify the sample medium by adding a therapeutic agent to said sample medium, and wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to assess an effectiveness of said therapeutic agent based on said comparison of said first EQELS spectrum and said second EQELS spectrum.
6. The system of claim 5, wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to determine if the therapeutic agent binds to a surface of the biological particle.
7. The system of claim 5, wherein the biological particle is a microbe and said EQELS analyzer is configured to determine a change in swim rate of the biological particle.
8. The system of claim 5, wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to determine a binding constant for the therapeutic agent.
9. The system of claim 5, wherein the biological particle is a microbe and said EQELS analyzer is configured to determine a swim rate for the microbe and to identify the microbe based on the swim rate, wherein said database includes swim rates for the plurality of known microbes.
10. The system of claim 1, wherein said EQELS spectrometer further comprises:
an electric field generator for exposing the biological particle in the sample medium to an electric field;
a light source configured to impinge an excitation light on the biological particle in the sample medium to produce scattered light;
a detector configured to detect the scattered light; wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to detect a Doppler shift in the scattered light compared to the excitation light.
11. The system of claim 1, wherein the biological particle is a microbe and wherein said EQELS analyzer is configured to identify the microbe by determining a ratio of a swim rate of the microbe to the electrophoretic mobility of the microbe.
12. The system of claim 1, further comprising a filtration device configured to collect the biological particle from a fluid.
13. The system of claim 12, wherein said filtration device further comprises:
a filter configured to filter a gas andor liquid and to trap the biological particle therein; and
a flushing inlet configured to flush the biological particle with a fluid to provide the sample medium.
14. The system of claim 13, wherein said filtration device is configured to collect a sample automatically.
15. The system of claim 1, wherein the cell is a virus.
16. The system of claim 1, wherein the cell is a bacteria.
17. The system of claim 1, wherein the cell is a fungi.
18. The system of claim 1, wherein the cell is a protozoa.
19. The system of claim 1, wherein the cell is a blood cell.
20. The system of claim 1, wherein the cell is a white blood cell.

1. A method in a management system, comprising:
receiving an indication over a communication network that an electronic device remote from the management system is at least potentially compromised;
queuing an instruction to initiate remediation of the electronic device;
receiving the instruction from the queue;
retrieving contact information for the electronic device;
retrieving a remediation policy for the electronic device;
transmitting the instruction to the electronic device according to the retrieved contact information with the retrieved remediation policy to initiate remediation of the electronic device;
receiving an indication over the communication network that the electronic device is not potentially compromised; and
transmitting a second instruction to the electronic device over the communication network to initiate recovery of the electronic device.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the indication that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised comprises:
enabling a user to log into a management service;
enabling the user to indicate a missing device;
enabling a list to be displayed of one or more electronic devices associated with the user;
enabling the user to select the electronic device from the list;
indicating one or more details regarding the selected electronic device to the user; and
enabling the user to confirm that the selected electronic device is at least potentially compromised.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the indication that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised comprises:
determining that the electronic device is decommissioned.
4. A computer-readable storage device having computer readable logic embodied thereon for enabling a management system to perform a method, the method comprising:
receiving an indication over a communication network from an electronic device remote from the management system that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised;
queuing an instruction to initiate remediation of the electronic device;
receiving the instruction from the queue;
retrieving contact information for the electronic device;
retrieving a remediation policy for the electronic device;
transmitting the instruction to the electronic device over the communication network to initiate remediation of the electronic device;
receiving an indication that the electronic device is not potentially compromised over the communication network; and
transmitting a second instruction to the electronic device over the communication network to initiate recovery of the electronic device.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting the instruction comprises:
establishing a connection with the electronic device; and
initiating the remediation policy for the electronic device over the connection.
6. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the indication that the electronic device is not potentially compromised comprises:
enabling the user to log into a management service;
enabling the user to select a device recovered option at the management service;
enabling a list to be displayed of one or more electronic devices associated with the user that are indicated as missing;
enabling the user to select the electronic device from the list;
indicating one or more details regarding the electronic device to the user; and
enabling the user to confirm that the electronic device is recovered.
7. A management system, comprising:
a network interface configured as a communication interface with a network;
a system management interface configured to provide a user interface to enable an indication to be provided over the network that an electronic device remote from the management system is at least potentially compromised, to generate a device remediation instruction, and to receive an indication that the electronic device is not potentially compromised;
an instruction queue configured to queue the device remediation instruction; and
a message service configured to receive the device remediation instruction from the queue, to retrieve contact information for the electronic device, to retrieve a remediation policy for the electronic device, to transmit the device remediation instruction over the network to the electronic device according to the retrieved contact information to initiate remediation of the electronic device, and to transmit another instruction to the electronic device to initiate recovery of the electronic device;
the system management interface module is configured to enable a user to log into a management service, to enable the user to select the electronic device, to indicate one or more details regarding the selected electronic device to the user, and to enable the user to confirm that the selected electronic device is at least potentially compromised.
8. The management system of claim 7, wherein the system management interface module is configured to enable a list to be displayed of one or more electronic devices associated with the user, and to enable the user to select the electronic device from the list.
9. The management system of claim 7, wherein the indication that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised is received from the electronic device.
10. The management system of claim 7, wherein the message service module is configured to establish a connection with the electronic device, and to initiate the remediation policy for the electronic device over the connection.
11. The management system of claim 7, wherein the system management interface module is configured to enable the user to log into the management service, to enable the user to select a device recovered option at the management service, to indicate one or more details regarding the electronic device to the user, and to enable the user to confirm that the electronic device is recovered.
12. The management system of claim 7, further comprising:
an administrative interface module configured to provide a user interface to enable an admin user to provide an indication that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised.
13. The computer-readable storage device of claim 4, wherein transmitting the instruction comprises:
establishing a connection with the electronic device; and
initiating the remediation policy for the electronic device over the connection.
14. The computer-readable storage device of claim 4, wherein receiving the indication that the electronic device is not potentially compromised comprises:
enabling the user to log into a management service;
enabling the user to select a device recovered option at the management service;
enabling a list to be displayed of one or more electronic devices associated with the user that are indicated as missing;
enabling the user to select the electronic device from the list;
indicating one or more details regarding the electronic device to the user; and
enabling the user to confirm that the electronic device is recovered.
15. The computer-readable storage device of claim 4, wherein receiving the indication that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised comprises:
determining that the electronic device is decommissioned.
16. The management system of claim 12, wherein the indication provided by the admin user that the electronic device is at least potentially compromised comprises:
a determination that the electronic device is decommissioned.
