What is claimed is:

1. A method for treating or preventing a disease or condition characterized by platelet aggregation comprising administering a JAK-3 inhibitor.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the JAK-3 inhibitor further inhibits tyrosine phosphorylation of STAT-3.
3. A method for selectively inhibiting thrombin-induced platelet aggregation comprising administering to said platelets a JAK-3 inhibitor.
4. A method for selectively inhibiting thrombin-induced platelet aggregation comprising administering to said platelets a JAK-3 inhibitor represented by formula I:

wherein:
X is selected from the group consisting of HN, R11N, S, O, CH2, and R11CH;
R11 is (C1-C4)alkyl or (C1-C4)alkanoyl;
R1-R5 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, and halo where at least one of R1-R5 is hydroxy;
R6, R7, and R8 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, mercapto, amino, nitro, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy, (C1-C4)alkylthio, and halo; and
R9 and R10 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, (C1-C4)alkyl, (C1-C4)alkoxy, halo, and (C1-C4)alkanoyl; or R9 and R10 together are methylenedioxy;
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
5. The method of claim 4, wherein X is HN.
6. The method of claim 4, wherein the JAK-3 inhibitor is represented by formula II:

R1-R5 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, hydroxy, and halo where at least one of R1-R5 is hydroxy;
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
7. The method of claim 4, wherein the compound is 4(4-hydroxyphenyl)-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline; 4-(3,5-dibromo-4-hydroxyphenyl)-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline; 4-(3-bromo-4-hydroxyphenyl)-amino-6,7-dimethoxy-quinazoline; or 4-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline.
8. The method of claim 4, wherein the compound is 4-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-amino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline.
9. The method of claim 4 wherein the condition characterized by platelet aggregation comprises embolus formation, thrombolytic complications, disseminated intravascular comgelopathy, thrombosis, coronary heart disease, thromboembolic complications, myocardial infarction, restenosis, or atrial thrombosis formation in atrial fibrillation.

1. A V-belt having a number of upper cogs and upper roots with upper pitch and upper curvilinear profile, a number of lower cogs and lower roots with lower pitch and lower curvilinear profile, and a reinforcing tensile layer substantially midway between the upper roots and the lower roots;
with the lower profile symmetric and comprising lines (\u201cL\u201d) and arcs (\u201cA\u201d) connected according to the sequence A1-L1-A2-L2 from the center of any of said upper roots to the center of an adjacent cog of said upper cogs;
with the upper profile symmetric and comprising lines and arcs connected according to the sequence A3-L3-A4-L4 from the center of any of said lower roots to the center of an adjacent cog of said lower cogs; and
wherein the number of said upper cogs is greater than the number of said lower cogs.
2. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein the number of said upper cogs is about 1.1 to 1.3 times the number of said lower cogs.
3. The v-belt of claim 1 wherein both side surfaces of the V-belt including both upper and lower cogs are cut at an angle \u03b12 with respect to the vertical axis of the belt, with a in the range of approximately 15\xb0 to 50\xb0.
4. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein said lines L1 and L2 connect tangentially with said arc A2, and said lines L3 and L4 connect tangentially with said arc A4.
5. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein the included angle of the opposing flanks defined by L3 of a lower cog is in the range of 10 to 40 degrees, and the included angle of the opposing flanks defined by L1 of an upper cog is in the range of 10 to 50 degrees.
6. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein the belt has a top width that is about twice the overall thickness.
7. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein each adjacent arc and line of both the upper and the lower profile connect tangentially.
8. The V-belt of claim 7 wherein the number of said upper cogs is about 1.1 to 1.3 times the number of said lower cogs; wherein the included angle of the opposing flanks defined by L3 of a lower cog is in the range of 10 to 40 degrees, and the included angle of the opposing flanks defined by L1 of an upper cog is in the range of 10 to 50 degrees; and wherein the belt has a top width that is about twice the overall thickness.
9. The V-belt of claim 1 further comprising opposing side surfaces having a relief angle disposed near a lower cog tip.
10. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein at least one of said arcs A1, A2, A3, and A4 has an arc radius of at least 1 mm.
11. The V-belt of claim 10 wherein each of said arcs A1, A2, A3, and A4 has an arc radius of at least 1 mm.
12. The V-belt of claim 11 wherein the radius of said arc A1 is less than the radius of said arc A2, and the radius of said arc A4 is less than the radius of said arc A3.
13. The V-belt of claim 1 wherein said upper cogs have an upper cog height H2, and said lower cogs have a lower cog height H1, such that H2 is less than H1.
14. The V-belt of claim 13 wherein each of said arcs A1, A2, A3, and A4 has an arc radius of at least 1 mm.
15. A V-belt having a number of upper cogs and upper roots with upper pitch P2 and upper curvilinear profile, a number of lower cogs and lower roots with lower pitch P1 and lower curvilinear profile, an overall thickness T0, and a reinforcing tensile layer embedded in the belt and having a center line located a distance C1 from said lower root and a distance C2 from said upper root;
with the lower profile symmetric and comprising lines (\u201cL\u201d) and arcs (\u201cA\u201d) connected tangentially according to the sequence A1-L1-A2-L2 from the center of any of said upper roots to the center of an adjacent cog of said upper cogs;
with the upper profile symmetric and comprising lines and arcs connected tangentially according to the sequence A3-L3-A4-L4 from the center of any of said lower roots to the center of an adjacent cog of said lower cogs; and
wherein said upper cogs have an upper cog height H2, and said lower cogs have a lower cog height H1; and
wherein the ratio (C1+C2)T0 is in the range 0.25 to 0.41.
16. The V-belt of claim 15 wherein the ratio P1T0 is in the range 0.59 to 0.71.
17. The V-belt of claim 15 wherein the ratio H1T0 is in the range 0.44 to 0.54.
18. The V-belt of claim 15 wherein the ratio of the arc radius of A1T0 is in the range 0.03 to 0.09.
19. The V-belt of claim 15 wherein the ratio of the arc radius of A2T0 is in the range 0.06 to 0.21.
20. The V-belt of claim 15 wherein the ratio P1T0 is in the range 0.59 to 0.71;
the ratio H1T0 is in the range 0.44 to 0.54;
