1. A method for making an article, comprising the steps of:
providing a first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
adding a photochromic pigment to the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
providing a second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer; and
creating a design for an article, at least a first portion of which comprises the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the photochromic pigment and a second portion of which comprises the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
wherein upon exposure to light, the first portion of the design comprised of the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the photochromic pigment changes color and the second portion comprised of the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer remains the same color to create a desired visual appearance.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the creating the design step comprises creating a three-dimensional design.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the article comprises one of a key chain, a magnet, jewelry, a wristband, and a photograph frame.
4. The method of claim 1, including the step of providing a third polyvinyl chloride plasticizer, and adding a second photochromic pigment, and wherein the creating the design step includes the step of forming a portion of the design with the third polyvinyl chloride plasticizer having the second photochromic pigment such that when the design is exposed to light, the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the photochromic pigment changes color, the third polyvinyl chloride plasticizer having the second photochromic pigment changes to a different color, and the portion comprised of the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer remains the same color.
5. A method for making an article, comprising the steps of:
providing a first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
adding a first photochromic pigment to the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
providing a second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
adding a second photochromic pigment to the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer;
creating a design for an article, at least a first portion of which comprises the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the first photochromic pigment and a second portion of which comprises the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the second photochromic pigment;
wherein upon exposure to light, the first portion of the design comprised of the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the photochromic pigment changes color and the second portion comprised of the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer changes to a different color to create a desired visual appearance.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein the creating the design step comprises creating a three-dimensional design.
7. The method of claim 5, wherein the article comprises one of a key chain, a magnet, jewelry, a wristband, and a photograph frame.
8. The method of claim 5, including the step of providing a third polyvinyl chloride plasticizer, and wherein the creating the design step includes the step of forming a third portion of the design with the third polyvinyl chloride plasticizer such that when the design is exposed to light, the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer with the first photochromic pigment changes color, the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer having the second photochromic pigment changes to a different color, and the portion comprised of the third polyvinyl chloride plasticizer remains the same color.
9. A decorative photosensitive article, comprising:
a base;
a first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer, having a first photochromic pigment, fixed to the base; and
a second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer fixed to the base;
wherein upon exposure to light, the first polyvinyl chloride plasticizer changes color and the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer changes to a different color or remains the same color to create a desired visual appearance.
10. The article of claim 9, wherein when the second polyvinyl chloride plasticizer changes color, it includes a second photochromic pigment.
11. The article of claim 9, wherein the article comprises one of a key chain, a magnet, jewelry, a wristband, and a photograph frame.
12. The article of claim 9, wherein the base is flexible.
13. The article of claim 9, wherein the first and second polyvinyl chloride plasticizers cooperatively form a three-dimensional design.

We claim:

1. A foot lifter orthesis comprising:
a dorsal leg shell, extending over the rear foot, which can be fixed by a strapping means to the calf of the orthesis wearer and which has a forefoot shell section constructed in one piece which extends to a point below the foot sole region, wherein the leg shell exhibits a low resistance in dorsal foot bending and a high resistance compensating for the foot and shoe mass in plantar foot bending with at least one resilient inlay, which extends approximately parallel to and at a short distance from an edge of the leg shell from the calf region thereof to a point below the forefoot shell section.
2. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said dorsal leg shell includes plastic.
3. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said leg shell includes soft, flexible plastic.
4. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said at least one resilient inlay includes at least one spring wire.
5. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said at least one resilient inlay includes a pair of spring wires.
6. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said edge of said leg shell is an inner edge.
7. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said edge of said leg shell is an outer edge.
8. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 5, wherein said edge of said leg shell is an inner edge.
9. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 5, wherein said edge of said leg shell is an outer edge.
10. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said leg shell includes a low-density polyethylene.
11. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein said leg shell includes an EVA.
12. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 5, wherein said at least one spring wire inlay ends approximately in the lower region of the heel bone.
13. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 5, wherein said at least one spring wire inlay is at least partially surrounded by plastic.
14. The foot lifter orthesis according to claim 1, wherein a central rib which is formed integrally in the rear heel region of the leg shell and on the rear side thereof, protrudes beyond the shoe edge of footwear put on by an orthesis wearer.
15. A method of forming a foot lifter orthesis comprising:
molding with soft, flexible plastic a dorsal leg shell, extending over the rear foot, which can be fixed by a strapping means to the calf of the orthesis wearer and which has a forefoot shell section constructed in one piece which extends to a point below the foot sole region; and
encasing in plastic at least one resilient inlay, which extends approximately parallel to and at a short distance from an edge of the leg shell from the calf region thereof to a point below the forefoot shell section., wherein the leg shell exhibits a low resistance in dorsal foot bending and a high resistance compensating for the foot and shoe mass in plantar foot bending.
16. The method of forming a foot lifter orthesis according to claim 15, wherein the step of encasing in plastic at least one resilient inlay includes encasing in plastic at least one spring wire.
17. The method of forming a foot lifter orthesis according to claim 15, wherein the step of encasing in plastic at least one resilient inlay includes encasing in plastic a pair of spring wires.
18. The method of forming a foot lifter orthesis according to claim 15, further including molding a central rib in the plastic which is formed integrally in the rear heel region of the leg shell and on the rear side thereof, protrudes beyond the shoe edge of footwear put on by an orthesis wearer.
19. The method of forming a foot lifter orthesis according to claim 15, wherein the plastic includes low-density polyethylene.
20. The method of forming a foot lifter orthesis according to claim 15, wherein the plastic includes EVA.
