1. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound having the formula:
wherein A1, A3, A6, and A8 independently represent CH or N;
A2 represents N or C\u2014X1a\u2014R1;
A4 represents N or C\u2014X2b\u2014R2;
wherein when A3 is N, then A4 is CH or CCH3, and
when A4 is N, then A3 is CH,
R1 and R2 independently represent H, or a hydrocarbon containing a minimum of three carbon atoms and a maximum of twenty six carbon atoms for R1, and a minimum of one carbon atom and a maximum of twenty six carbon atoms for R2, wherein the hydrocarbon is unsubstituted, or is substituted with one or more of \u2014OH, \u2014NH2, \u2014SH, halo, or \u2014COOH;
X1 and X2 independently represent \u2014O\u2014, \u2014S\u2014, \u2014NH\u2014, \u2014C(O)O\u2014, \u2014C(O)\u2014, \u2014C(O)NH\u2014, or \u2014SO2NH\u2014;
a and b independently represent 0 or 1, provided that when a and b are both 0, then R1 and R2 are not both H; when a is 1, then R1 is not H; and when b is 1, then R2 is not H;
A5 and A9 independently represent CR3 or N;
R3 represents H, methyl, ethyl, or halo;
A7 represents CR4 or N;
R4 represents H, methyl, ethyl, halo, nitro, amino, amido, or a methyl or ethyl group substituted with halo, nitro, hydroxy, amino, or amido;
provided that A2 and A4 are not both N; and not more than three of A5, A6, A7, A8, and A9 are N,
and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
2. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 1 wherein A2 represents C(X1)a\u2014R1.
3. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 2 wherein A4 represents C(X2)b\u2014R2.
4. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 3 wherein a and b represent 0.
5. The compound according to claim 4 wherein R1 is H.
6. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 4 wherein R2 is H.
7. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 6 wherein R1 is a hydrocarbon containing a minimum of three carbon atoms and a maximum of twenty six carbon atoms.
8. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 7 wherein the hydrocarbon is alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl.
9. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 8 wherein the hydrocarbon is a straight-chained alkyl group.
10. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 9 wherein the straight-chained alkyl group contains a maximum of eight carbon atoms.
11. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 10 wherein the straight-chained alkyl group contains a minimum of four carbon atoms.
12. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 11 wherein the straight-chained alkyl group is unsubstituted.
13. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 12 wherein A1 represents CH.
14. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 13 wherein A3 represents CH.
15. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 14 wherein A5 represents CR3.
16. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 15 wherein R3 represents H.
17. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 16 wherein A6 represents CH.
18. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 17 wherein A7 represents CR4.
19. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 18 wherein R4 represents H.
20. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 19 wherein A8 represents CH.
21. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 20 wherein A9 represents CR3.
22. The pharmaceutical composition according to claim 21 wherein R3 represents H.
23. The compound according to claim 11 wherein the straight-chained alkyl is substituted with OH.
24. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 1 wherein the compound is represented by the formula
wherein R1 is a straight-chained alkyl containing a minimum of four carbon atoms and a maximum of twenty six carbon atoms.

1. A near field light generator comprising:
a waveguide comprising a core and a clad brought into contact with the core, to guide light comprising an electric field component perpendicular to an interface between the core and the clad, and
a metallic structure body provided on an outputting end face onto which light of the waveguide is output, to generate near field light by receiving light guided by the waveguide,
wherein the metallic structure body is placed straddling the core and the clad on the outputting end face in such a way that the metallic structure body receives the electric field component protruding from the interface to the clad, and
wherein the metallic structure body comprises a sharpened portion in its shape, the sharpened portion being placed in such a way that the sharpened portion is present in the clad.
2. The near field light generator of claim 1,
wherein specific refractive index difference \u0394 between refractive index ncore of a material constituting the core and refractive index nclad of a material constituting the clad, represented by the following Formula, is 0.25 or more:
\u0394=(ncore2\u2212nclad2)(2\xd7ncore2).
3. The near field light generator of claim 1,
wherein the waveguide comprises a light spot size converter to make a light spot on an output side of the waveguide to be smaller in size than another light spot on an incident side of the waveguide.
4. The near field light generator of claim 1,
wherein the metallic structure body is in the form of a triangle, and placed in such a way that the triangle comprises an apex present in the clad, and an opposite side facing the apex is present in the core.
5. An optical recording head comprising:
the near field light generator of claim 1 placed to provide near field light to a magnetic recording medium, and
a magnetic recording section placed to conduct magnetic recording onto the magnetic recording medium to which the near field light is provided by the near field light generator,
wherein the metallic structure body is placed straddling from the core to a clad on a side where the magnetic recording section is located.
6. An optical recording apparatus comprising:
the optical recording head of claim 5,
a light source emitting light coupled with the waveguide,
a magnetic recording medium, and
a control section to conduct controlling for magnetic recording onto the magnetic recording medium with the optical recording head.
