1. A saw table comprising:
a table base having a first base end and a second base end;
a clamping bar having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis therebetween;
a first pivoting arm operatively connected to said first end of said clamping bar to pivotally support said clamping bar at said first base end of said table base for pivotal movement about a pivot axis parallel to said longitudinal axis;
a second pivoting arm operatively connected to said second end of said clamping bar to pivotally support said clamping bar at said second base end of said table base for pivotal movement about said pivot axis; and
a biasing device biasing said clamping bar about said pivot axis toward said table base to clamp a work piece between said clamping bar and said table base and resisting pivotal movement of said clamping bar in the opposite direction about said pivot axis.
2. A saw table as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a first track supported by said table base and extending parallel to said longitudinal axis between said first and second base ends and spaced from said table base for supporting a saw cradle.
3. A saw table as set forth in claim 2 further comprising a first track support and a second track support mounting said first track on said table base at said respective first and second base ends and spaced from said table base, and a second track extending parallel to said first track and mounted on said first and second track supports and spaced from said table base.
4. A saw table as set forth in claim 3 wherein said arms are pivotally mounted on said respective first and second track supports.
5. A saw table as set forth in claim 4 wherein each of said arms comprises a socket for receiving said respective first and second ends of said clamping bar.
6. A saw table as set forth in claim 5 wherein each socket includes an end wall extending transverse to said longitudinal axis for abutting and restricting movement of said ends of said clamping bar along said longitudinal axis.
7. A saw table as set forth in claim 6 wherein each of said arms further comprises a lever wall extending transversely to said longitudinal axis from said socket to said pivot axis.
8. A saw table as set forth in claim 7 wherein each of said arms further comprises a peripheral housing wall extending parallel to said longitudinal axis and transversely from said socket and said lever wall.
9. A saw table as set forth in claim 8 wherein each of said arms further comprises a support wall extending across said lever wall between said socket and said housing wall.
10. A saw table as set forth in claim 8 wherein each of said housing walls extends beyond said lever wall to define an opening between said lever wall and said housing wall.
11. A saw table as set forth in claim 10 wherein said biasing device comprises a spring extending through each of said openings between said lever wall and the adjacent of said track supports.
12. A saw table as set forth in claim 11 wherein each of said arms further comprises a cover extending parallel to said lever wall and closing said housing wall.
13. A saw table as set forth in claim 12 wherein each of said lever walls defines a first hole and one end of said spring extends through said hole for connecting the end of the spring to the lever wall.
14. A saw table as set forth in claim 12 further including a bushing mounted on and extending outwardly from each of said track supports and each of said lever walls further defining a second hole for receiving said bushing.
15. A saw table as set forth in claim 3 further including a saw cradle slidably mounted on said first and second tracks for movement between a first position and a second position and for supporting a saw.
16. A saw table as set forth in claim 15 further including a pivot foot rotatably coupled to said table base and including a work piece abutment edge defining an acute angle with said longitudinal axis for accepting an edge of the work piece.
17. A saw table as set forth in claim 16 further including a coupling mechanism for selectively preventing rotation of said pivot foot.
18. A saw table as set forth in claim 17 wherein said pivot foot defines an aperture and said coupling mechanism comprises a post passing through said aperture and into said table base.
19. A saw table as set forth in claim 18 wherein said coupling mechanism further comprises a nut embedded in said table base and said post includes a threaded portion for engaging said nut.
20. A saw table as set forth in claim 1 wherein said biasing device comprises a first spring disposed about a center axis and providing a biasing force along said center axis.
21. A saw table as set forth in claim 20 wherein said first spring is disposed in tension between one of said arms and said table base.
22. A saw table as set forth in claim 21 wherein said biasing device further comprises a second spring disposed between the other of said arms and said table base.
23. A saw table as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a sleeve formed from a polymer and disposed about said clamping bar for frictionally engaging the work piece.
24. A clamping mechanism for use on a saw table comprising:
a clamping bar having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis therebetween;
a first pivoting arm operatively connected to one of said ends of said clamping bar to support said clamping bar for rotation about a pivot axis; and
a biasing device biasing said clamping bar about said pivot axis to clamp a work piece between said clamping bar and a table base.
25. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 24 wherein said biasing device comprises a first spring disposed about a center axis and providing a biasing force along said center axis.
26. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 25 wherein said first spring is connected to said first pivoting arm.
27. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 26 further comprising a second pivoting arm operatively connected to the other of said ends of said clamping bar.
28. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 27 wherein said biasing device further comprises a second spring connected to said second pivoting arm.
29. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 28 wherein each of said arms comprises a socket for receiving said respective first and second ends of said clamping bar.
30. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 29 wherein each socket includes an end wall extending transverse to said longitudinal axis for abutting and restricting movement of said ends of said clamping bar along said longitudinal axis.
31. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 30 wherein each of said arms further comprises a lever wall extending transversely to said longitudinal axis from said socket to said pivot axis.
32. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 31 wherein each of said arms further comprises a peripheral housing wall extending parallel to said longitudinal axis and transversely from said socket and said lever wall.
33. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 32 wherein each of said arms further comprises a support wall extending across said lever wall between said socket and said housing wall.
34. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 32 wherein each of said housing walls extends beyond said lever wall to define an opening between said lever wall and said housing wall.
35. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 34 wherein said springs extend through each of said openings between said lever wall and the adjacent of said track supports.
36. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 35 wherein each of said arms further comprises a cover extending parallel to said respective lever walls and closing said housing walls.
37. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 36 wherein each of said lever walls defines a first hole and one end of said spring extends through said hole for connecting the end of the spring to the lever wall.
38. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 36 further including a bushing mounted on and extending outwardly from each of said track supports and each of said lever walls further defining a second hole for receiving said bushing.
39. A clamping mechanism as set forth in claim 24 further comprising a sleeve formed from a polymer and disposed about said clamping bar for frictionally engaging the work piece.
40. A saw table comprising:
a table base having a first base end and a second base end;
a clamping bar having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis therebetween;
a first pivoting arm operatively connected to said first end of said clamping bar to pivotally support said clamping bar at said first base end of said table base for pivotal movement about a pivot axis parallel to said longitudinal axis;
a second pivoting arm operatively connected to said second end of said clamping bar to pivotally support said clamping bar at said second base end of said table base for pivotal movement about said pivot axis;
a biasing device biasing said clamping bar about said pivot axis toward said table base to clamp a work piece between said clamping bar and said table base and resisting pivotal movement of said clamping bar in the opposite direction about said pivot axis;
a first track supported by said table base and extending parallel to said longitudinal axis between said first and second base ends and spaced from said table base for supporting a saw cradle;
a second track extending parallel to said first track; and
a first track support and a second track support mounting said first track and said second track on said table base at said respective first and second base ends and spaced from said table base, said arms pivotally mounted on said respective first and second track supports.
41. A saw table comprising:
a table base having a first base end and a second base end;
a clamping bar having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis therebetween;
a first pivoting arm operatively connected to said first end of said clamping bar to pivotally support said clamping bar at said first base end of said table base for pivotal movement about a pivot axis parallel to said longitudinal axis;
a second pivoting arm operatively connected to said second end of said clamping bar to pivotally support said clamping bar at said second base end of said table base for pivotal movement about said pivot axis;
a biasing device biasing said clamping bar about said pivot axis toward said table base to clamp a work piece between said clamping bar and said table base and resisting pivotal movement of said clamping bar in the opposite direction about said pivot axis; and
a pivot foot rotatably coupled to said table base and including a work piece abutment edge defining an acute angle with said longitudinal axis for accepting an edge of the work piece.
42. A clamping mechanism for use on a saw table comprising:
a clamping bar having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis therebetween;
a first pivoting arm operatively connected to one of said ends of said clamping bar to support said clamping bar for rotation about a pivot axis;
a second pivoting arm operatively connected to the other of said ends of said clamping bar;
each of said arms including a socket for receiving said respective first and second ends of said clamping bar and a lever wall extending transversely to said longitudinal axis from said socket to said pivot axis and a peripheral housing wall extending parallel to said longitudinal axis and transversely from said socket and said lever wall;
each of said sockets including an end wall extending transverse to said longitudinal axis for abutting and restricting movement of said ends of said clamping bar along said longitudinal axis;
each of said housing walls extending beyond said lever wall to define an opening between said lever wall and said housing wall; and
a biasing device biasing said clamping bar about said pivot axis to clamp a work piece between said clamping bar and a table base.
43. A clamping mechanism for use on a saw table comprising:
a clamping bar having a first end and a second end defining a longitudinal axis therebetween;
a first pivoting arm operatively connected to one of said ends of said clamping bar to support said clamping bar for rotation about a pivot axis;
a biasing device biasing said clamping bar about said pivot axis to clamp a work piece between said clamping bar and a table base; and
a sleeve formed from a polymer and disposed about said clamping bar for frictionally engaging the work piece.

I claim:
1. An apparatus for supporting articles, said apparatus extending from a vertically-directed surface and comprising:
a first supporting member and a second supporting member;
means for mounting said first supporting member at a first predetermined vertical position along the vertically-directed surface and means for mounting said second supporting member at a second predetermined vertical position along the vertically-directed surface;
a first elongated rod, said first rod having one end secured to said first supporting member so that said first rod extends substantially horizontally outwardly from said first supporting member;
a second elongated rod, said second rod having one end secured to said second supporting member so that said second rod extends substantially horizontally outwardly from said second supporting member;
an elongated cross member rod pivotally secured at the other end of said first elongated rod; and
means for lockingly securing the other end of said cross member to the other end of said second elongated rod;
whereby articles supported upon said first and second elongated rods are protected from unauthorized removal from said apparatus.
2. The apparatus as described in claim 1, wherein said means for mounting said first supporting member and said means for mounting second supporting member to the vertically-directed surface each comprise a threaded mounting bolt extending from said first and second supporting members which engages the vertically-directed surface.
3. The apparatus as described in claim 2, further comprising said first supporting member and said second supporting member each having a recessed portion formed therein for receiving said ends of said first and second elongated rods, said recessed portions and said ends each having opposingly engaging threads placed thereon.
4. The apparatus as described in claim 3, further comprising a hole drilled through said recessed portions of said first and second supporting members, each of said holes receiving said mounting bolts.
5. The apparatus as described in claim 1, wherein said means for lockingly securing the other end of said cross member to the other end of said second elongated rod comprises a longitudinally extending slot recessed within said other end of said second elongated rod, said slot receives a tab portion extending from said other end of said cross member upon pivoting of said cross member in the direction of said second elongated rod.
6. The apparatus as described in claim 5, wherein said means for lockingly securing further comprises a lock cylinder attached to the other end of said second elongated rod.
7. The apparatus as described in claim 6, wherein said cylinder includes a key operated lock.
8. The apparatus as described in claim 1, wherein said first supporting member and said second member each further comprises a flange portion which is outwardly flared against the vertically-directed surface.
9. The apparatus as described in claim 3, wherein said first elongated rod comprises a three quarter of an inch steel pipe which is threadably engaged within said first supporting member.
10. The apparatus as described in claim 3, wherein said second elongated rod comprises a two and one quarter inch steel pipe which is threadably engaged within said second supporting member.
11. An apparatus for supporting articles comprising:
an elongated support which extends generally vertically from a ground surface and which is supported upon the ground surface.
at least one locking assembly secured to said elongated support, each locking assembly comprising:
a first supporting member and a second supporting member;
means for mounting said first supporting member at a first predetermined vertical position along said elongated support and means for mounting said second supporting member at a second predetermined vertical position along said elongated support;
a first elongated rod, said first rod having one end secured to said first supporting member so that said first rod extends substantially horizontally outwardly from said first supporting member;
a second elongated rod, said second rod having one end secured to said second supporting member so that said second rod extends substantially horizontally outwardly from said second supporting member;
an elongated cross member rod pivotally secured to the other end of said first elongated rod; and
means for lockingly securing the other end of said cross member to the other end of said second elongated rod;
whereby articles supported upon said first and second elongated rods are protected from unauthorized removal from said apparatus.
