a plurality of stripes, each of the plurality of stripes having a width that is a portion of the plurality of programmable devices within the flash memory device.
2. The device of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of stripes has a height of one page.
3. The device of claim 2, wherein the pages have corresponding logical block addresses and wherein the pages within each of the plurality of stripes are numbered consecutively.
4. The device of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of stripes has a height of more than one page.
5. The device of claim 4, wherein the pages have corresponding logical block addresses and wherein at least some of the pages within an erasure block are numbered consecutively.
6. The device of claim 5, wherein, for each of the plurality of erasure blocks, the logical block addresses within the erasure block are sequentially ordered.
7. The device of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of stripes has a height of all the pages in a block.
8. The device of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of stripes has a height that is greater than one page and less than all of the pages in a block.
9. The device of claim 1, further comprising a cache that stores a plurality of write commands.
10. The device of claim 9, wherein the cache is implemented in a non-volatile memory.
11. A flash memory device comprising:
a plurality of programmable devices;
a plurality of pages within each of the plurality programmable devices; and
a plurality of stripes, each of the plurality of stripes having a height that is greater than one page.
12. The device of claim 11, wherein each of the plurality of stripes has a width that is less than all of the programmable devices within the flash memory device.
13. The device of claim 11, wherein the plurality of programmable devices are dual programmable devices.
14. The device of claim 11, wherein the plurality of pages are dual pages.
15. The device of claim 11, wherein the plurality of pages are within a plurality of erasure blocks and wherein the erasure blocks are dual erasure blocks.
16. The device of claim 11, wherein each of the plurality of stripes have the same size.
17. The device of claim 11, wherein at least two of the plurality of stripes have different sizes.
18. A method of storing data to a flash memory device, the method comprising:
receiving a write command;
dividing the write command into multiple segments;
storing one of the multiple segments to at least two of the pages within a first erasure block; and
storing another one of the multiple segments to at least two of the pages within a second erasure block.
19. The method of claim 18, further comprising:
caching additional write commands; and
storing the additional write commands, the one of the multiple segments, and the another one of the multiple segments concurrently.
20. The method of claim 18, further comprising:
addressing the at least two of the pages within the first erasure block and the at least two of the pages within the second erasure block by consecutively numbering the at least two of the pages in the first erasure block and then consecutively numbering the at least two of the pages in the second erasure block with the following numbers.
The claims below are in addition to those above.
All refrences to claim(s) which appear below refer to the numbering after this setence.
