7. A method for determining a trigger time for restraint means in a vehicle, comprising:
generating acceleration signals using acceleration sensors, wherein a velocity reduction of the vehicle that crashes into an object is determined from the acceleration signals;
determining at least one first time window as a function of at least one comparison of the velocity reduction to at least one first threshold value;
determining the trigger time as a function of at least the slope of the velocity reduction in the at least one first time window, a crash time, and a crash speed, wherein the crash time and the crash speed are determined with the aid of a precrash sensor system (1).
8. The method as recited in claim 7, wherein a second time window is determined as a function of the crash speed, the position of the first time window, and the slope of the velocity reduction in the first time window, and wherein a crash type is determined as a function of specific positions of the first and second time windows, the crash time, and the crash speed, and wherein the velocity reduction is compared to a second threshold value after the end of the second time window, in order to determine the trigger time as a function of the crash type.
9. The method as recited in claim 7, wherein a minimum time is stipulated for the at least one first time window.
10. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein the second threshold value is a continuous threshold value function.
11. The method as recited in claim 7, wherein, for each crash type, a trigger time corresponding to a particular crash time is determined with the aid of a table.
12. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein, for each crash type, a trigger time corresponding to a particular crash time is determined with the aid of a table.

1. A non-transitory machine-readable medium carrying one or more sequences of instructions which, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to carry out the steps of:
receiving a message using an on-demand database service, on behalf of an entity:
applying, to the message received on behalf of the entity, a security criterion retrieved from a portion of an on-demand database limited to information of the entity, where the security criterion includes validation of an address of a sender of the message; and
retrieving a rule for processing the message received on behalf of the entity if the message received on behalf of the entity successfully meets the security criterion, wherein the rule is linked to the address of the sender of the message such that the rule is identified for retrieval using the validated address of the sender of the message.
2. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the security criterion includes security criterion managed by the on-demand database service controlling the on-demand database.
3. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the retrieving includes retrieving the rule on behalf of the entity.
4. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, further comprising processing the message by applying the rule retrieved.
5. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 4, further comprising limiting processing resources used to process the message by applying a rate limit to a resource count tracked on behalf of processing the message.
6. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, further comprising installing the rule for processing the message from an application exchange platform.
7. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the message is received at the on-demand database service.
8. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the message includes at least one of a workflow approval, a mass email, a single email, a notification, a case email, a billing email, and a workflow request.
9. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the message includes at least one of an email to create a new case, a thread to a previous email, an inquiry, and a customer support email.
10. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the on-demand database service includes a multi-tenant on-demand database service.
11. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the security criterion applied to the message received on behalf of the entity includes an anti-spam verification.
12. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 1, wherein the rule is configured to only be invoked in response to the validation of the address of the sender of the message received on behalf of the entity.
13. A method, comprising:
receiving a message using an on-demand database service, on behalf of an entity;
applying, to the message received on behalf of the entity, a security criterion retrieved from a portion of an on-demand database limited to information of the entity, where the security criterion includes validation of an address of a sender of the message; and
retrieving a rule for processing the message received on behalf of the entity if the message received on behalf of the entity successfully meets the security criterion, wherein the rule is linked to the address of the sender of the message such that the rule is identified for retrieval using the validated address of the sender of the message.
14. An apparatus, comprising:
a processor; and
one or more stored sequences of instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to carry out the steps of:
receiving a message using an on-demand database service, on behalf of an entity; applying, to the message received on behalf of the entity, a security criterion retrieved from a portion of an on-demand database limited to information of the entity, where the security criterion includes validation of an address of a sender of the message; and
retrieving a rule for processing the message received on behalf of the entity if the message received on behalf of the entity successfully meets the security criterion, wherein the rule is linked to the address of the sender of the message such that the rule is identified for retrieval using the validated address of the sender of the message.
15. A method for transmitting code for use in a an ant database system on a transmission medium, the method comprising:
transmitting code for receiving a message using an on-demand database service, on behalf of an entity;
transmitting code for applying, to the message received on behalf of the entity, a security criterion retrieved from a portion of an on-demand database limited to information of the entity, utilizing a processor, where the security criterion includes validation of an address of a sender of the message; and
transmitting code for retrieving a rule for processing the message received on behalf of the entity if the message received on behalf of the entity successfully meets the security criterion, wherein the rule is linked to the address of the sender of the message such that the rule is identified for retrieval using the validated address of the sender of the message.
