1. A cryostat microtome comprising:
a stationary microtome part;
a microtome knife;
a slide guide defining a linear travel path toward and away from said microtome knife to adjust thickness of cut;
a slide element guided by said slide guide for movement relative to said slide guide along said linear travel path;
a specimen holder mounted on said slide element for holding a specimen to be cut by said microtome knife;
a drive motor;
a cam driven by said drive motor and engaged by said slide element, wherein said slide element includes a roller arranged to engage an outer periphery of said cam; and
at least one spring having a first end connected to said stationary microtome part and a second end connected to said slide element, said at least one spring acting to bias said slide element toward engagement with said cam to maintain a non-positive connection between said slide element and said cam;
wherein said cam is located between said slide element and a location where said at least one spring is connected to said stationary microtome part.
2. The cryostat microtome according to claim 1, wherein said cam is a helical cam.
3. The cryostat microtome according to claim 1, wherein said cam is an eccentric cam.
4. The cryostat microtome according to claim 1, wherein said roller defines a roller track for receiving said outer periphery of said cam.
5. The cryostat microtome according to claim 1, wherein the drive motor is a stepper motor.
6. The cryostat microtome according to claim 5, further comprising a control unit connected to said stepper motor, whereby a predetermined relative displacement between said specimen and said knife can be set.
7. The cryostat microtome according to claim 1, wherein said at least one spring is a tension spring.

1. A method for informing a user of a content management directive associated with a rating, the method comprising:
identifying a content management directive capable of being invoked through a user assigned rating;
identifying a rating associated with invoking the identified content management directive; and
providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file further comprises:
identifying text describing the rating;
identifying text describing the content management directive;
creating a media file; and
storing the text describing the rating and the text describing the content management directive as metadata associated with the media file.
3. The method of claim 2 wherein:
identifying text describing the rating further comprises retrieving a description of the rating from a data structure;
identifying text describing the content management directive further comprises retrieving a description of the content management directive from a data structure.
4. The method of claim 2 further comprising:
storing the media file on a digital audio player; and
displaying the metadata describing the media file, the metadata containing the text describing the rating and the text describing the content management directive
5. The method of claim 1 wherein providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file further comprises:
identifying text describing the rating;
identifying text describing the content management directive;
creating a media file;
converting the text to speech; and
recording the speech in the audio portion of the media file.
6. The method of claim 5 further comprising:
storing the media file on a digital audio player; and
playing the audio portion containing the speech.
7. A system for informing a user of a content management directive associated with a rating, the system comprising:
a computer processor;
a computer memory operatively coupled to the computer processor;
the computer memory having disposed within it computer program instructions capable of:
identifying a content management directive capable of being invoked through a user assigned rating;
identifying a rating associated with invoking the identified content management directive; and
providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file.
8. The system of claim 7 wherein computer program instructions capable of providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file further comprise computer program instructions capable of:
identifying text describing the rating;
identifying text describing the content management directive;
creating a media file; and
storing the text describing the rating and the text describing the content management directive as metadata associated with the media file.
9. The system of claim 8 wherein:
computer program instructions capable of identifying text describing the rating further comprise computer program instructions capable of retrieving a description of the rating from a data structure;
computer program instructions capable of identifying text describing the content management directive further comprise computer program instructions capable of retrieving a description of the content management directive from a data structure.
10. The system of claim 8 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of:
storing the media file on a digital audio player; and
displaying the metadata describing the media file, the metadata containing the text describing the rating and the text describing the content management directive
11. The system of claim 7 wherein computer program instruction capable of providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file further comprises computer program instruction capable of:
identifying text describing the rating;
identifying text describing the content management directive;
creating a media file;
converting the text to speech; and
recording the speech in the audio portion of the media file.
12. The system of claim 11 wherein the computer memory also has disposed within it computer program instructions capable of:
storing the media file on a digital audio player; and
playing the audio portion containing the speech.
13. A computer program product for informing a user of a content management directive associated with a rating, the computer program product embodied on a computer-readable medium, the computer program product comprising:
computer program instructions for identifying a content management directive capable of being invoked through a user assigned rating;
computer program instructions for identifying a rating associated with invoking the identified content management directive; and
computer program instructions for providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file.
14. The computer program product of claim 13 wherein computer program instructions for providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file further comprise:
computer program instructions for identifying text describing the rating;
computer program instructions for identifying text describing the content management directive;
computer program instructions for creating a media file; and
computer program instructions for storing the text describing the rating and the text describing the content management directive as metadata associated with the media file.
15. The computer program product of claim 14 wherein:
computer program instructions for identifying text describing the rating further comprises retrieving a description of the rating from a data structure;
computer program instructions for identifying text describing the content management directive further comprises retrieving a description of the content management directive from a data structure.
16. The computer program product of claim 14 further comprising:
computer program instructions for storing the media file on a digital audio player; and
computer program instructions for displaying the metadata describing the media file, the metadata containing the text describing the rating and the text describing the content management directive
17. The computer program product of claim 13 wherein computer program instructions for providing an identification of the rating and an identification of the content management directive associated with the rating to a user through a media file further comprise:
computer program instructions for identifying text describing the rating;
computer program instructions for identifying text describing the content management directive;
computer program instructions for creating a media file;
computer program instructions for converting the text to speech; and
computer program instructions for recording the speech in the audio portion of the media file.
18. The computer program product of claim 17 further comprising:
computer program instructions for storing the media file on a digital audio player; and
computer program instructions for playing the audio portion containing the speech.
19. The computer program product of claim 13 wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises a recording medium.
20. The computer program product of claim 13 wherein the computer-readable medium further comprises a transmission medium.
