1. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground, said system comprising:
a collective control arm and pitch adjustment mechanism for control of a helicopter;
an altimeter for sensing the distance between the helicopter and the ground;
data storage means and means for inputting a pre-selected altitude into said data storage means;
signal generating means for generating a signal as the helicopter approaches the ground and comes within a pre-selected distance from the ground; and
a tactile warning device operably connected to said collective control arm and responsive to a signal from said signal generator means for vibrating said collective control arm as a warning to the pilot that the helicopter is within the pre-selected distance from the ground.
2. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground according to claim 1 in which the altimeter is a radio altimeter.
3. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground in accordance with claim 1, and wherein the tactile warning device vibrates the collective control arm and wherein the frequency of vibration increases as the helicopter gets closer to the ground.
4. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground in accordance with claim 1 and wherein the tactile warning device increases the amplitude of vibration of the collective control arm as the helicopter draws nearer to the ground.
5. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground in accordance with claim 1 and wherein the tactile warning system includes an eccentrically mounted weight and electric motor for rotating said eccentrically mounted weight about an axis whereby the inertial rotation of the unbalanced weight produces vibration in the collective control arm.
6. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground in accordance with claim 1 and which includes means for increasing the rotational speed of the eccentrically mounted weight as the helicopter comes closer to the ground.
7. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground in accordance with claim 1 and wherein the tactile warning system includes a reciprocal weight operably connected to said collective control arm and means including an electric motor and electric means for reciprocating said weight to thereby vibrate said collective control arm.
8. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of the altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground in accordance with claim 1 and which includes means for actuating said tactile warning device in response to a dangerous condition during startup andor in flight operation.
9. A method for aiding a helicopter pilot in making a soft landing comprising the steps of:
providing a collective and a tactile warning device operably connected to the collective;
selecting a threshold height for warning a pilot of a pre-selected distance to the ground during a landing operation;
sensing the altitude of the helicopter as it descends for a landing; and activating the tactile warning device as the helicopter reaches the threshold height to warn the pilot of the distance to the ground.
10. A method for aiding a helicopter pilot in making a soft landing in accordance with claim 9 which includes the step of increasing the magnitude of the tactile warning as the helicopter closes the distance between the threshold height and the ground.
11. A method for aiding a helicopter in making a soft landing comprising the steps of:
providing a collective pitch adjusting mechanism and a moveable collective control arm operatively connected to the collective pitch adjusting mechanism whereby movement of the collective control arm collectively adjusts the pitch of the motor blades;
providing a storage device and an input device;
selecting a threshold height for warning a pilot of a preselected distance from the ground and entering the threshold height into the storage device;
providing an altimeter and monitoring the actual altitude of the helicopter as the helicopter approaches the ground for landing;
providing a computer for comparing the sensed altitude and the threshold height and comparing the sensed altitude and the threshold height; and
actuating the tactile warning device when the actual height is equal to or less than the threshold height to warn the pilot of the distance to the ground.
12. A method for aiding a helicopter pilot in making a soft landing in accordance with claim 11 and which includes the step of increasing the magnitude of the tactile warning as the helicopter approaches the ground.
13. A method for aiding a helicopter pilot in making a soft landing in accordance with claim 12 wherein the tactile warning device is a striker shaker.
14. A method for protecting a helicopter of the type having a turbine engine during startup andor aiding a pilot in making a soft landing comprising the steps of:
providing a pilots control stick and tactile warning device operatively connected to the central stick;
providing a safe temperature profile for startup of the helicopter turbine engine;
monitoring an actual turbine output temperature of the engine during startup;
activating the tactile warning device when the actual turbine output temperature exceeds the safe temperature profile and aborting the startup in response to the tactile warning; and
selecting a threshold height for warning a pilot of a pre-selected distance to the ground during a landing maneuver;
sensing the altitude of the helicopter as it descends for a landing; and
activating the taotile warning device as the helicopter reaches the threshold height to warn the pilot of the distance to the ground.
15. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter pilot of dangerous conditions, said system comprising:
a collective control arm and pitch adjustment mechanism for control of the helicopter;
a tactile warning device operably connected to said collective control arm;
means for actuating said tactile warning device during a startup when the engine temperature exceeds a pre-selected temperature;
means for actuating said tactile warning device during flight operation to warn a pilot of dangerous conditions; and
means for actuating said tactile warning device during a landing approach.
16. A tactile warning system for warning a helicopter of dangerous conditions according to claim 15 which includes the step of increasing the magnitude of the tactile warning when a danger becomes more imminent or the altitude decreases between a threshold distance from the ground.
17. A method for aiding a helicopter in making a safe landing according to claim 11 which includes the steps of selecting a second pre-selected altitude and vibrating the collective at a different frequency than a first frequency when the helicopter descends to the second pre-selected altitude.

1. A method for delivering a notification message in a broadcastingcommunication system, the method comprising:
(a) in response to a notification event related to a broadcast service, generating, by an entity that manages subscription information of a terminal, the notification message to inform the terminal of the notification event, and generating a delivery request message including a target address, the target address being based on the subscription information of the terminal, the delivery request message being for requesting delivery of the generated notification message; and
(b) determining, by an entity that delivers the notification message, based on the target address in the received delivery request message, whether to use a broadcast channel or an interaction channel as a channel for delivery of the notification message, and delivering the notification message over the determined channel to the terminal,
wherein the notification message is delivered based on the target address, the target address including delivery channel information for indicating either the broadcast channel or the interaction channel as the channel for delivery of the notification message.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein step (b) comprises:
checking an address type of the terminal based on the target address if the notification message is delivered using the interaction channel; and
delivering the notification message to the terminal through the interaction channel according to the address type.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein step (b) comprises:
checking a target session address for the broadcast channel based on the target address if the notification message is delivered using the broadcast channel; and
delivering the notification message to the terminal through the broadcast channel according to the target session address.
4. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving, by the entity that manages the subscription information of the terminal, a subscription request message including notification related information for delivery of the notification message.
5. The method of claim 4, wherein the notification related information indicates whether or not the terminal subscribes to delivery of the notification message over the interaction channel.
6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
receiving from the terminal, by the entity that manages the subscription information, a message for requesting subscription or purchase of a service-specific notification message; and
handling the subscription or purchase request message and storing the corresponding service and the subscriber information of the terminal.
7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
receiving from the terminal, by the entity that manages the subscription information, a message for requesting unsubscription of the notification message for subscribed services; and
unsubscribing the notification message delivery for the subscribed services for the terminal.
8. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
receiving from the terminal, by the entity that manages the subscription information, a message for requesting unsubscription of a service-specific notification message; and
unsubscribing delivery of the notification message for the unsubscription-requested service.
9. The method of claim 1, wherein the target address includes an address type based on the delivery channel, for each terminal.
10. A transmitter for delivering a notification message in a broadcastingcommunication system, the transmitter comprising:
an entity configured to manage subscription information of a terminal, and upon an occurrence of a notification event related to a broadcast service, generate a notification message to inform a terminal of the notification event and generate a delivery request message including a target address, the target address being based on the subscription information of the terminal, the delivery request message being for requesting delivery of the generated notification message; and
an entity configured to determine whether to use a broadcast channel or an interaction channel as a channel for delivery of the notification message, based on the target address in the received delivery request message, and delivering the notification message over the determined channel to the terminal,
wherein the notification message is delivered based on the target address, the target address including delivery channel information for indicating either the broadcast channel or the interaction channel as the channel for delivery of the notification message.
11. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity for determining a channel is configured to check an address type of the terminal based on the target address if the notification message is delivered using the interaction channel and to deliver the notification message to the terminal through the interaction channel according to the address type.
12. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity for determining a channel is configured to check a target session address for the broadcast channel based on the target address if the notification message is delivered using the broadcast channel and to deliver the notification message to the terminal through the broadcast channel according to the target session address.
13. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity for managing subscription information is configured to receive a subscription request message including notification related information for delivery of the notification message.
14. The transmitter of claim 13, wherein the notification related information indicates whether or not the terminal subscribes to delivery of the notification message over the interaction channel.
15. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity for managing subscription information is configured to receive from the terminal a subscription or purchase request message for a service-specific notification message, and to handle the subscription or purchase request message and store the corresponding service and the subscriber information of the terminal.
16. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity for managing subscription information is configured to, upon receipt from the terminal of a message for requesting unsubscription of the notification message for subscribed services, unsubscribe the notification message delivery for the subscribed services for the terminal.
17. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity for managing subscription information is configured to, upon receipt from the terminal of a message for requesting unsubscription of a service-specific notification message, unsubscribe delivery of the notification message for the unsubscription-requested service.
18. The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the target address includes an address type based on the delivery channel, for each terminal.

The transmitter of claim 10, wherein the entity configured to manage the subscription information utilizes a Notification Generation (NTG) function and the entity configured to determine the channel and delivering the notification message utilizes a Notification DistributionAdaptation (NTDA) function.
20. A method for delivering a notification message in a broadcastingcommunication system, the method comprising:
receiving, by an entity that manages subscription information of a terminal, a subscription request message including notification related information, the notification related information being for delivery of a notification message, the notification related information indicating whether or not the terminal subscribes to delivery of the notification message over an interaction channel; and
in response to a notification event related to a broadcast service, delivering, by an entity that delivers the notification message, the notification message to the terminal, the delivery being based on the subscription information of the terminal,
wherein the notification message is delivered based on a target address, the target address including delivery channel information for indicating either a broadcast channel or the interaction channel as a channel for delivery of the notification message.
21. The method of claim 20, wherein the notification message is a service-specific notification message.
22. The method of claim 20, wherein the subscription information includes the notification related information for delivery of the notification message.
23. The method of claim 20, further comprising transmitting a response message including authentication information from the entity that manages the subscription information of the terminal in response to the subscription request message.
24. The method of claim 20, wherein the subscription request message for the notification message includes service identification information, and subscription or purchase information of the notification message for the broadcast service.
25. The method of claim 20, further comprising receiving a request message for delivery unsubscription of the notification message from the terminal.
26. A transmitter for delivering a notification message in a broadcastingcommunication system, the transmitter comprising:
an entity configured to manage subscription information of a terminal and receive a subscription request message including a notification related information, the notification related information being for delivery of a notification message, the notification related information indicating whether or not the terminal subscribes to delivery of the notification message over an interaction channel; and
an entity configured to deliver the notification message to the terminal based on the subscription information of the terminal, the delivery being in response to a notification event related to a broadcast service,
wherein the notification message is delivered based on a target address, the target address including delivery channel information for indicating either a broadcast channel or the interaction channel as a channel for delivery of the notification message.
27. The transmitter of claim 26, wherein the notification message is a service-specific notification message.
28. The transmitter of claim 26, wherein the subscription information includes the notification related information for delivery of the notification message.
29. The transmitter of claim 26, wherein the entity that manages the subscription information is configured to transmit a response message including authentication information of the terminal in response to the subscription request message.

32. A method for receiving a notification message at a terminal in a broadcastingcommunication system, the method comprising:
sending, to an entity that manages subscription information of the terminal, a subscription request message including notification related information, the notification related information being for delivery of a notification message, the notification related information indicating whether or not the terminal subscribes to delivery of the notification message over an interaction channel; and
in response to a notification event related to a broadcast service, receiving notification message from an entity that delivers the notification message, the delivery being based on the subscription information of the terminal,
wherein the notification message is transmitted based on a target address, the target address including delivery channel information for indicating either a broadcast channel or the interaction channel as a channel for delivery of the notification message.
33. The method of claim 32, wherein the notification message is a service-specific notification message.
34. The method of claim 32, wherein the subscription information includes the notification related information for delivery of the notification message.
35. The method of claim 32, further comprising receiving a response message including authentication information from the entity that manages the subscription information in response to the request message.

a transceiver configured to transmit or receive messages for reception of a notification message; and
a controller configured to control sending, to an entity that manages subscription information of the terminal, a subscription request message including a notification related information, the notification related information being for delivery of the notification message, the notification related information indicating whether or not the terminal subscribes to delivery of the notification message over the interaction channel, and, in response to a notification event related to a broadcast service, receiving a notification message from an entity that delivers the notification message, the delivery being based on the subscription information of the terminal,
wherein the notification message is delivered based on a target address, the target address including delivery channel information for indicating either a broadcast channel or the interaction channel as a channel for delivery of the notification message.
39. The terminal of claim 38, wherein the notification message is a service-specific notification message.
40. The terminal of claim 38, wherein the subscription information includes the notification related information for delivery of the notification message.
41. The terminal of claim 38, wherein the controller is further configured to receive a response message including authentication information from the entity that manages the subscription information in response to the request message.
