What is claimed is:
1. A method for assigning domain names on a wide area network to a client by a provider operating a provider computer, wherein the domain name is defined by a plurality of name level components including a provider component and a client component, comprising:
selecting a provider component of the domain name by the client, wherein the provider component is defined by the provider;
selecting a client component of the domain name, wherein the client component is selected by the client;
submitting the proposed name to the provider computer, wherein the proposed domain name is a combination of the plurality of the selected components, wherein the domain name is configured such that the client component is followed by the provider component; and
determining whether the proposed name is to be assigned to the client.
2. A method for assigning domain names as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
verifying the availability of a proposed domain name by the provider computer.
3. A method for assigning domain names as claimed in claim 1, wherein the provider component comprises a plurality of name levels, wherein the plurality of name levels defined by the provider are greater than two.
4. A method for assigning domain names as claimed in claim 1, wherein the client component comprises a plurality of name levels, wherein the plurality of name levels defined by the client are greater than two.
5. A method for assigning domain names on a wide area network to a client by a provider operating a provider computer, wherein the domain name is defined by a plurality of components including a thirdlevel component, a secondlevel component and a toplevel component, comprising:
selecting a secondlevel component and a toplevel component of the domain name, wherein the secondlevel component and the toplevel component are defined by the provider computer;
selecting a thirdlevel component of the domain name, wherein the thirdlevel component is selected by the client;
verifying the availability of a proposed domain name by the provider computer, wherein the proposed domain name is a combination of the plurality of the selected components; and
if the proposed domain name is available, assigning the proposed domain name to the client.
6. A method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the domain name is further defined by a fourthlevel component, further comprising:
selecting a fourthlevel component of the domain name, wherein the fourthlevel component is selected by the client.
7. A method as claimed in claim 5 further comprising:
storing the proposed domain name in a provider maintained register.
8. A method for retrieving an assigned domain on a wide area network by a provider computer, wherein the assigned domain is referenced by an assigned domain name which is requested by a user, the domain name having a computer address being defined by a plurality of components including a thirdlevel component, a secondlevel component and a toplevel component, the provider computer including a domain hosting system having a scheduler, a plurality of redirectors, a plurality of servers and a data storage apparatus, comprising:
identifying the computer address of the assigned domain name requested by the user, wherein the computer address is determined by the secondlevel component and toplevel component of the domain name;
executing a parsing procedure, wherein the user requested domain name is translated to a provider defined subdomain name and a client directory, wherein the provider defined subdomain name is partially determined by the secondlevel and toplevel components of the assigned domain name and wherein the client directory is partially determined by the thirdlevel component of the assigned domain name;
identifying a second computer address, wherein the second computer address identifies the provider defined subdomain name; and
transmitting the data associated with the second computer address to the user.
9. A domain management system including a provider defined data structure for use on a network system, the network system including a user computer and a provider computer coupled via the network system, wherein the user computer is capable of transmitting a domain request and the provider computer is capable of receiving the domain request, comprising:
a name assignment system; and
a hosting system, wherein the hosting system comprises a scheduler, a plurality of redirectors, a plurality of servers, and a data storage apparatus, wherein the redirectors includes a parsing mechanism, the parsing mechanism being capable of translating the domain request, which is transmitted by the user computer, to the provider defined data structure.

What is claimed is:
1. A limiter device provided in a variable displacement compressor capable of varying a discharge displacement per revolution and compressing a fluid in a cycle, the limiter device comprising:
an operating characteristic acquiring means for acquiring a predetermined characteristic during a compression operation of the compressor; and
a varying means for varying the discharge displacement to a minimum side when the predetermined characteristic obtained by the operating characteristic acquiring means exceeds a predetermined value.
2. The limiter device according to claim 1, wherein:
the operating characteristic acquiring means is a sensor for detecting at least one of a temperature or a vibration at a predetermined portion of the compressor, a quantity of worn powder flowing in the compressor with the fluid, a sliding position of a compression member of the compressor, and a discharge side pressure of the compressor; and
the varying means is a solenoid valve that has a current supplied thereto adjusted in response to a detection signal from the sensor and opens or closes a part of a communication passage of the fluid in the compressor to vary the discharge displacement.
3. The limiter device according to claim 2, wherein:
the sensor is for detecting the quantity of the worn powder, and is constructed of a positive pole part and a negative pole part;
the positive pole part and the negative pole part have tips that are disposed in the compressor, and are arranged to have a predetermined potential difference therebetween; and
the positive pole part is separated from the negative pole part in such a manner that they are brought into conduction when a predetermined amount of the worn powder adheres to them.
4. The limiter device according to claim 3, wherein a plurality of the positive pole parts and a plurality of the negative pole parts are provided in an inner peripheral direction of the compressor.
5. The limiter device according to claim 3, wherein the positive pole part and the negative pole part are provided continuously in an inner peripheral direction of the compressor.
6. The limiter device according to claim 3, wherein:
the compressor has an inner space constructed of at least two outer housings;
the positive pole part is interposed between the two outer housings, and includes a sheet metal and insulation members provided on both surfaces of the sheet metal; and
the negative pole part is at least one of the two outer housings.
7. The limiter device according to claim 1, wherein:
the operating characteristic acquiring means is a temperature fuse that fuses and blows out when a temperature at a predetermined portion of the compressor exceeds the predetermined value during the compression operation;
the varying means is a solenoid valve that has a current supplied thereto via the temperature fuse and is adjusted to open or close a part of communication passage of the fluid in the compressor to vary the discharge displacement; and
the solenoid valve varies the discharge displacement of the compressor to a minimum side when the current becomes zero.
8. The limiter device according to claim 1, wherein the compressor is a swash plate type compressor in which a slanting angle of a swash plate received in a swash plate chamber is adjusted to vary the discharge displacement.
9. The limiter device according to claim 1, wherein:
the compressor is a swash plate type compressor in which a pressure in a swash plate chamber having a swash plate received therein is adjusted by a discharge side pressure or a suction side pressure of the compressor to adjust a slanting angle of the swash plate to vary the discharge displacement;
the varying means is a communication hole for communicating a discharge side of the compressor with the swash plate chamber; and
the operating characteristic acquiring means is release means for closing the communication hole during a normal mode of the compression operation and for opening the communication hole when a temperature at a predetermined portion of the compressor exceeds the predetermined value during the compression operation.
10. The limiter device according to claim 9, wherein the release means is a low-melting metal part that melts when the temperature during the compression operation exceeds the predetermined value.
11. The limiter device according to claim 9, wherein the release means is a bimetal part that bends when the temperature during the compression operation exceeds the predetermined value.
12. The limiter device according to claim 8, wherein the operating characteristic acquiring means and the varying means are a filter that is arranged in an exhaust passage for making the swash plate chamber communicate with a suction side in the compressor and traps worn powder flowing with the fluid.
