1. A rock drilling and bolting system comprising:
a drill feed rail having first and second pivot attachment points;
a bolter feed rail having first and second pivot attachment points, the bolter feed rail being parallel to the drill feed rail;
a drill feed adapted to slide on the drill feed rail;
a bolter feed adapted to slide on the bolter feed rail;
a first L-shaped pivot arm pivotally connected to the first pivot attachment points of the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail;
a second L-shaped pivot arm pivotally connected to the second pivot attachment points of the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail;
a frame;
an actuator mounted to the frame for rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail;
wherein the bolter feed rail is rotationally coupled to the drill feed rail by the first and second pivot L-shaped pivot arms to enable the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail to rotate in unison between a drilling position and a bolting position.
2. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the actuator is a hydraulic rotary actuator.
3. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the actuator is a hydraulic linear actuator.
4. A method of installing ground support using a rock drilling and bolting system having a drill feed rail and a bolter feed rail, the method comprising:
positioning a drill feed rail being pivotally connected at two attachment points to a bolter feed rail by first and second L-shaped pivot arms;
feeding a drill string using a drill feed slidable on the drill feed rail;
drilling a hole in the rock;
rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail using an actuator mounted to a frame to rotate the drill feed rail out of alignment with the hole and to concurrently rotate the bolter feed rail into alignment with the hole;
feeding a rock bolt using a bolter feed slidable on the bolter feed rail; and
installing the rock bolt into the hole.
5. The method as claimed in claim 4 wherein rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail is accomplished using a hydraulic rotary actuator.
6. The method as claimed in claim 4 wherein rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail is accomplished using a hydraulic linear actuator.
7. A rock drilling and bolting system comprising:
a frame;
a drill feed rail mounted to the frame;
a bolter feed rail mounted to the frame in a back-to-back arrangement with the drill feed rail;
a drill feed movably mounted on the drill feed rail;
a bolter feed movably mounted on the bolter feed rail;
a first pivot arm pivotally connected to the frame;
a second pivot arm pivotally connected to the frame; and
an actuator connected between the first and second pivot arms for rotating the drill feed rail and bolter feed rail from a drilling position to a bolting position that is aligned with a hole drilled in the drilling position.
8. The system as claimed in claim 7 wherein the actuator is a hydraulic rotary actuator.
9. The system as claimed in claim 7 wherein the actuator is a hydraulic linear actuator.
10. A method of installing ground support using a rock drilling and bolting system, the method comprising:
positioning a drill feed rail at a rock face, the drill feed rail being attached via a frame in a back-to-back arrangement to a bolter feed rail;
feeding a drill string using a drill feed movably mounted to the drill feed rail;
drilling a hole in the rock face;
rotating the drill feed rail and bolter feed rail using an actuator connected to first and second L-shaped pivot arms which are also pivotally connected to the frame to thereby rotate the bolter feed rail into alignment with the hole;
feeding a rock bolt using a bolter feed movably mounted to the bolter feed rail; and
installing the rock bolt into the hole.
11. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail is accomplished using a hydraulic rotary actuator.
12. The method as claimed in claim 10 wherein rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail is accomplished using a hydraulic linear actuator.
13. A rock drilling and bolting system comprising:
a frame;
a drill feed rail rotationally supported on the frame, the drill feed rail having a drill feed slidable on the drill feed rail;
a bolter feed rail rotationally supported on the frame, the bolter feed rail having a bolter feed slidable on the bolter feed rail;
a rotary mechanism comprising a first pivot arm and a parallel second pivot arm that rotationally couples the bolter feed rail to the drill feed rail;
an actuator mounted to the frame and the rotary mechanism for simultaneously rotating the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail between a drilling position for drilling and a bolting position for bolting.
14. The system as claimed in claim 13 wherein the rotary mechanism comprises first and second L-shaped pivot arms connecting the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail at respective pivot attachment points.
15. The system as claimed in claim 13 wherein the rotary mechanism comprises first and second straight-member pivot arms connecting to a frame supporting the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail in a back-to-back arrangement.
16. A rock drilling and bolting system comprising:
a boom;
a frame mounted to the boom;
a drill feed rail;
a bolter feed rail mounted to the drill feed rail and rotatable with the drill feed rail; and
a rotary actuator mounted between the frame and one or both of the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail, wherein rotation of the rotary actuator indexes the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail.
17. The system as claimed in claim 16 comprising a first rotary actuator and a second rotary actuator aligned with the first rotary actuator for together indexing the drill feed rail and the bolter feed rail.

What is claimed is:

1. A home appliance networking system comprising:
at least one home appliance connected to a network, said home appliance being controlled in response to control information received over said network and transmitting its state information and self-information over said network; and
communication mediation means connected to said home appliance for recognizing said self-information transmitted from said appliance and managing transmission and reception of all data over said network by said appliance on the basis of the recognized information.
2. The home appliance networking system as set forth in claim 1, further comprising a service provider for providing additional information regarding said home appliance, not included in said appliance self-information, to said communication mediation means in response to a request therefrom.
3. The home appliance networking system as set forth in claim 1, wherein said self-information of said home appliance includes basic information for notifying other home appliances connected to said network and said communication mediation means of the existence of said home appliance.
4. The home appliance networking system as set forth in claim 1, wherein said self-information of said home appliance includes:
an appliance name indicative of a product type of said home appliance;
an appliance nickname indicative of a representative specific function of said home appliance;
a version name indicative of a version of a software program associated with an operation and control of said home appliance;
a manufacturer of said home appliance;
a brand name of said home appliance offered for sale to the public;
a model number uniquely assigned to said home appliance;
a model address that is a uniform resource locator of a service provider which stores additional information regarding said home appliance; and
a coding method for storage of said additional information regarding said home appliance in said service provider.
5. The home appliance networking system as set forth in claim 1, wherein a new data item is added to said self-information of said home appliance or an existing data item is deleted therefrom according to a given situation.
6. A method for controlling a home appliance networking system, comprising the steps of:
a) allowing communication mediation means managing transmission and reception of data over a network to determine whether there is a new home appliance connected to said network and, if there is the new home appliance connected to said network, request said new home appliance to transmit its self-information;
b) allowing said home appliance to transmit its self-information to said communication mediation means in response to the request therefrom; and
c) allowing said communication mediation means to recognize said self-information transmitted from said home appliance.
7. The method as set forth in claim 6, wherein said step b) includes the step of sequentially transmitting said self-information of said home appliance to said communication mediation means in response to the request therefrom.
8. The method as set forth in claim 6, wherein said self-information of said home appliance includes a plurality of data items; and
wherein said step b) includes the step of transmitting said data items to said communication mediation means at one time in response to the request therefrom.
9. The method as set forth in claim 6, further comprising the step of:
d) controlling said home appliance according to control information transmitted over an external network after said step c) is performed.
10. The method as set forth in claim 6, further comprising the steps of:
d) allowing said communication mediation means to request a service provider storing additional information regarding said home appliance, not included in said appliance self-information, to transmit said additional information after said step c) is performed;
e) allowing said service provider to transmit said additional information regarding said home appliance to said communication mediation means in response to the request therefrom; and
f) allowing said communication mediation means to recognize said additional information transmitted from said service provider.
11. The method as set forth in claim 10, wherein said self-information of said home appliance includes a uniform resource locator of said service provider storing said additional information regarding said home appliance; and
wherein said step d) includes the step of requesting said service provider with said uniform resource locator of said self-information to transmit said additional information regarding said home appliance.
12. The method as set forth in claim 10, wherein said step e) includes the step of sequentially transmitting said additional information regarding said home appliance to said communication mediation means in response to the request therefrom.
13. The method as set forth in claim 10, wherein said additional information regarding said home appliance includes a plurality of data items; and
wherein said step e) includes the step of transmitting said data items to said communication mediation means at one time in response to the request therefrom.

That which is claimed is:

1. A lighting device comprising:
a) a hooded cover structure having a forwardly extending curved hood and a rear portion;
b) a nonconductive base member constructed and arranged to hold a light emitting source, a power source and a switch, said light emitting source being disposed within said forwardly extending curved hood and said nonconductive member being constructed and arranged for placement in said rear portion of said hooded cover structure; and
c) an attachment member being constructed and arranged to position said lighting device to an appliance.
2. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said cover structure is formed of a molded plastic and wherein said cover structure has a bottom and wherein said attachment member is connected to said bottom of said cover structure.
3. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said attachment member of said lighting device is constructed and arranged for movement with respect to an appliance whereby said device is able to cast light on any desired portion of the appliance.
4. The lighting device of claim 2, wherein said attachment member is a ring-like member having a decorative front and a rear connecting structure constructed and arranged to frictionally engage an appliance.
5. The lighting device of claim 4, wherein said rear connecting structure of said attachment member includes a tapered surface constructed and arranged to engage an appliance selected from the group of appliances consisting of a thermostat, a thermostat component, a thermostat inner member and a mounting plate.
6. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said non-conductive base structure has a bottom and wherein said attachment member is positioned on said bottom of said base structure.
7. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said base structure has a bottom and wherein said attachment member is comprised of opposing snap ridges extending from said base structure bottom.
8. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said attachment member for securing said lighting device to an appliance comprises said cover structure having a bottom, said cover structure being comprised of a unitary molded structure including a ring-like portion extending from said cover structure bottom, said ring-like portion being constructed and arranged to engage an appliance selected from the group of appliances consisting of a thermostat, a thermostat component, a VCR, a caller ID, and a mounting plate.
9. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said attachment member is constructed and arranged to engage an appliance selected from the group of appliances consisting of a thermostat, a thermostat component, a thermostat inner member and a mounting plate.
10. The lighting device of claim 1, wherein said cover structure has a bottom and wherein said attachment member for securing said device to an appliance further comprises a ring-like portion extending from said cover structure bottom and a mounting plate constructed to receive said ring-like portion of said cover structure.
11. A lighting device for appliances said device comprising:
a) a base structure having a bottom, a cavity, an aperture, an opening, and a slot in said opening;
b) said cavity in said base structure having means for supporting a conductive connector member, a switch, a light source, and a power means;
c) said switch being positioned on said conductive connector member which provides electrical communication between said light source and said power means, said conductive connector member being positioned in said slot in said opening of said base structure;
d) said switch extending from of said base structure and said light source extending outwardly from said base structure; and
e) a cover structure having a forwardly extending hood and being constructed and arranged to receive said base structure whereby said hood extends below said light source, said cover further having an aperture through which said switch is activatable.
12. The lighting device of claim 11, wherein said lighting device has means for securing said device to an appliance, said means being a member of the group of securing means consisting of an adhesive layer with a release liner attached to said bottom of said base structure, opposing snap ridges extending from the base structure bottom, an attachment member connected to said base structure, a unitary molded structure with said cover structure having a bottom and including a ring-like portion extending from said cover structure bottom, said ring-like portion being constructed and arranged to engage an appliance, and an attachment member connected to said bottom of said cover structure.
13. A lighting device for an appliance, said device comprising:
a) a base structure having a bottom and having a cavity therein;
b) a conductive connector member and a switch;
c) a light emitting source extending from said base structure;
d) power source means positioned in said cavity of said base structure and being constructed and arranged to be in communication with said light emitting source;
e) a cover structure having a forwardly extending hood and being constructed and arranged to hold said base structure whereby said hood extends below said light emitting source, said cover further having an aperture through which said switch is accessible for activation; and
f) attachment means for securing said lighting device to an appliance.
14. The lighting device of claim 13, wherein said attachment means is a ring-like portion extending from the bottom thereof, said ring-like portion being constructed and arranged to engage an appliance.
15. The lighting device of claim 13, wherein said ring-like portion is of a geometric shape.
16. The lighting device of claim 13, wherein said attachment means is comprised of an adjustable attachment structure.
17. The lighting device of claim 13, wherein said attachment means includes an attachment structure connected to said lighting device and a mounting structure for receiving said attachment structure, said mounting structure being adapted for use with to an appliance.
18. The lighting device of claim 13, wherein said attachment means is selected from the group of attachment structures consisting of an adhesive, snap ridges, an attachment member extending from said base structure, an attachment structure extending from said cover structure, molding said device into an appliance and an attachment member extending from said lighting device having a cooperating mounting structure for an appliance.
19. A lighting device for an appliance comprising:
a) a body member having a forwardly extending hooded member with a downwardly disposed opening, said body member further having a bottom portion and an upwardly disposed opening and a rearwardly disposed opening;
b) a lighting module having a body constructed and arranged for holding a light source, power means and an upwardly extending switch, said switch being aligned for activation with said upwardly disposed opening of said body member, and said light source being disposed in said forwardly extending hooded member; and
c) said body member further having means for attachment of said device to an appliance, said means for attachment being positioned at said bottom portion of said body member.
20. The lighting device of claim 19, wherein said means for attachment of said device to an appliance is a member of the group of attachment members consisting of a downwardly extending attachment member from said bottom portion of said hooded body member and having a cooperating mounting member for attachment to an appliance, a downwardly extending adjustable attachment member extending from said bottom of said body member, a slide structure incorporated in said body member and having a cooperating mounting structure, molding the lighting device into an appliance, molding the lighting device into a component of an appliance, an enclosed member having a geometric shape and an opening, and a ring-like portion extending from said bottom of said the lighting device body.
21. The lighting device of claim 19, wherein said body member is formed of a molded plastic or metal material and is constructed and arranged to receive said lighting module through said rearwardly disposed opening.
22. The lighting device of claim 19, wherein said means for attachment is an adjustable structure whereby said device may be moved to any position with respect to an appliance.
23. The lighting device of claim 22, wherein said adjustable structure includes a hinge member.
24. The lighting device of claim 19, wherein said means for attachment includes a slidable engagement member.
25. The lighting device of claim 19, wherein said means for attachment includes a mounting member for cooperating with said means for attachment.
26. The lighting device of claim 25, wherein said mounting member is constructed and arranged for incorporation with an appliance.
27. The lighting device of claim 21, wherein said means for attachment comprises incorporating said lighting device into the structure of an appliance.

1. A notebook comprising:
a. a front cover and a back cover each having first and second major sides and movable relative to each other between open and closed positions;
b. an insert retaining panel cooperating with the back cover to form a pocket to receive an insert between the back cover and the panel; and
c. an implement holder formed from a flap portion of the back cover into a sleeve for retaining an implement therein.
2. A notebook according to claim 1, wherein the front cover and back cover are integrally formed and are foldable along at least one crease therebetween.
3. A notebook according to claim 1, wherein the panel comprises an integrally formed extension of the back cover.
4. A notebook according to claim 1, wherein the flap is formed from a U-shaped tab cut from the panel and folded out of a plane of the panel.
5. A notebook according to claim 1, wherein the implement holder comprises a sleeve formed by folding the flap upon itself to form a void.
6. A notebook according to claim 1, wherein the pocket formed by the panel and back cover is maintained by at least one connection between the panel and back cover.
7. A notebook according to claim 6, wherein the connection is selected from a group consisting of a rivet, a staple, an adhesive, and sonic welding.
8. A notebook according to claim 1, wherein the flap defines a raised edge forming a stop against which an edge of an insert rests for proper positioning of the insert between the front and back covers.
9. A notebook according to claim 1, and further comprising a spine integrally formed with the front cover and the back cover.
10. A notebook according to claim 9, wherein the sleeve is integrally formed with and projects outwardly from the back cover.
11. A blank for forming a notebook having a front cover, a back cover and an integrally formed spine therebetween, the blank comprising:
a. a front cover;
b. a back cover;
c. a spine connecting the front cover to the back cover, the spine positioned between and integrally formed with the front cover and the back cover;
d. a panel integrally formed with the back cover opposite the spine for cooperating with the back cover to form a pocket to receive an insert between the back cover and the panel; and
e. a flap integrally formed with the back cover opposite the spine for forming a sleeve for retaining an implement therein.
12. A blank according to claim 11, wherein a U-shaped cut separates the panel and flap.
13. A blank according to claim 12, wherein the panel defines a U-shape positioned around the U-shaped cut.
14. A blank according to claim 11, wherein the spine is connected to the front cover and the back cover along a pair of weakness lines for forming hinges between the front cover and back cover, and the weakness lines are spaced to define the thickness of the notebook.
15. A method of forming a notebook having a front cover, a back cover and an integrally formed spine therebetween, the method comprising:
a. providing a blank comprising:
i. a front cover;
ii. a back cover;
iii. a spine connecting the front cover to the back cover and positioned between and integrally formed with the front cover and the back cover;
vi. a panel integrally formed with the back cover opposite the spine; and
v. a flap integrally formed with the back cover opposite the spine;

b. folding the panel into overlying relation to the back cover to form a pocket for receiving an insert between the panel and back cover;
c. folding the flap toward the back cover to form an implement holder for retaining an implement therein.
16. A method according to claim 15, wherein folding the flap toward the back cover comprises folding the flap at multiple creases to form the implement holder.
17. A method according to claim 15, wherein upon folding the flap to form the implement holder, the flap defines a raised edge forming a stop against which an edge of an insert rests for proper positioning between the front and back covers.
18. A method according to claim 15, wherein the implement holder comprises a sleeve positioned on an end edge of the back cover and projects outwardly therefrom.
