1. A slip system comprising:
a set of drive slips having wickers thereon, substantially all of which being truncated in cross-section;
a set of gripping slips operatively interengagable with the set of drive slips;
a drive slip end ring in operable communication with the set of drive slips; and
a gripping slip end ring in operable communication with the set of gripping slips, the end rings capable of transmitting a load applied in an axial direction of the system to the set of gripping slips and the set of drive slips to tangentially load the set of drive slips and the set of gripping slips against each other thereby increasing a radial dimension of the system and distributing stresses created in a target tubular.
2. The slip system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the wickers of the drive slips are all truncated.
3. The slip system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the truncation is by an amount about the same as an amount a sharp wicker having similar dimensions and flank angles would be expected to penetrate a target tubular.
4. The slip system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the drive slips engage only frictionally with a target tubular.
5. The slip system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the gripping slips possess at least one truncated wicker.
6. The slip system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the gripping slips possess a plurality of truncated wickers.
7. The slip system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the truncated wickers are positioned on each gripping slip to distribute applied stress in a target tubular.
8. The slip system as claimed in claim 6 wherein the truncated wickers are positioned on each gripping slip in an alternating pattern with sharp wickers.
9. The slip system as claimed in claim 8 wherein the pattern is a single alternating pattern.
10. The slip system as claimed in claim 8 wherein the pattern is a double alternating pattern.
11. The slip system as claimed in claim 8 wherein the pattern is a triple alternating pattern.
12. The slip system as claimed in claim 8 wherein the pattern is a random pattern of truncated and sharp wickers.
13. The slip system claimed in claim 1 wherein the drive end ring includes a plurality of interengagement slots.
14. The slip system as claimed in claim 13 wherein the slots are all the same dimensions and shape.
15. The slip system as claimed in claim 13 wherein the slots are T-shaped.
16. The slip system as claimed in claim 1 wherein the grip end ring includes a plurality of interengagement slots.
17. The slip system as claimed in claim 16 wherein the interengagement slots are of differing dimensions.
18. The slip system claimed in claim 16 wherein the interengagement slots are configured to selectively loading in tension certain ones of the set of gripping slips.
19. The slip system claimed in claim 1 wherein each slip of the set of slips includes a keyed flange and a flange keyhole.
20. A method for distributing stress in a target tubular imparted by a slip system comprising:
embedding a plurality of sharp wickers of the slip system into the target tubular; and
contacting an inside dimension of the target tubular with a plurality of truncated wickers.

1. A ball game for two or more competitors comprising:
a console unit, said console unit having two sides, each side being associated with one of the playing competitors, the sides being divided by a central divider, the console including five tubes on each side associated with each playing competitor;
each of the tubes including five key holes for reception of keys;
twenty five keys associated with each playing competitor, each of the twenty five keys having a different indicator, and each of the twenty five keys having a ball-blocking portion;
four unmarked balls and one marked ball associated with each playing competitor;
whereby the twenty five keys associated with each competitor are placed into the key holes on the tubes and whereby the four unmarked balls and one marked ball are placed into the tubes after the keys have been placed into the key holes, one ball in each playing competitor’s tube, the balls being supported in the tubes by the ball-blocking portion of the keys;
and whereby a playing competitor alternates with the other playing competitor in directing the other playing competitor to remove one key at a time from a key slot until a correct combination of keys have been removed to release the marked ball.
2. A ball game for two or more competitors comprising:
a console unit, said console unit having a plurality of playing sides, each side being associated with one of the playing competitors, the console including an identical plurality of tubes on each playing side, each tube having a predetermined plurality of key holes;
a plurality of keys associated with each of the playing competitors, the plurality of keys being an equal number to the predetermined plurality of key holes associated with each playing competitor, each of the keys having a ball blocking portion, and each of the keys associated with each of the playing competitors including a different marking; and
a plurality of balls associated with a playing competitor, the plurality of balls being an equal number to the plurality of tubes associated with the playing competitor, wherein all of the balls except for one are unmarked and one is marked;
whereby the plurality keys associated with each competitor are placed into the key holes on the tubes and whereby the unmarked balls and marked ball are placed into the tubes after the keys have been placed into the key holes, one ball in each playing competitor’s tube, the balls being supported in the tubes by the ball-blocking portion of the keys;
and whereby a playing competitor alternates with the other playing competitor in directing the other playing competitor to remove one key at a time from a key slot until a correct combination of keys have been removed to release the marked ball.

1. A Moir\xe9 interferometric-based shear-stress sensor, comprising:
a substrate support, said substrate including a first optical grating disposed in or on said substrate, said first grating having a plurality of features defining a first spatial period, and
a floating element having a second optical grating disposed in or on said floating element, said second grating having a plurality of features defining a second spatial period, said floating element suspended over said first grating and flexibly connected to said substrate with compliant springs, wherein said first and second gratings are in an optical path with one another, said sensor upon irradiation forming a Moir\xe9 fringe pattern which relates to a shear-stress induced translation of said floating element.
2. The sensor of claim 1, wherein said substrate support is substantially optically transparent.
3. The sensor of claim 1, wherein said sensor is a MEMS sensor.
4. The sensor of claim 3, wherein said floating element comprises silicon.
5. The sensor of claim 4, wherein said silicon is single crystal silicon.
6. The sensor of claim 1, wherein a ratio of fringe pitch (G) to a pitch of said second grating is at least 10.
7. A sensor system for measuring shear-stress, comprising:
A Moir\xe9 interferometric-based shear-stress sensor including a substrate support, said substrate including a first optical grating disposed in or on said substrate, said first grating having a plurality of features defining a first spatial period, and a floating element having a second optical grating disposed in or on said floating element, said second grating having a plurality of features defining a second spatial period, said floating element suspended over said first grating and flexibly connected to said substrate with compliant springs, wherein said first and second gratings are in an optical path with one another, said sensor upon irradiation forming a Moir\xe9 fringe pattern which relates to a shear-stress induced translation of said floating element;
a light source for irradiating said sensor with electromagnetic radiation, and
a detector for measuring fringe patterns resulting from reflections of said radiation from said first and second grating.
8. A method for measuring shear-stress, comprising the steps of:
providing a Moir\xe9 interferometric-based shear-stress sensor including a pair of gratings in an optical path and a floating element;
irradiating said sensor with electromagnetic radiation;
measuring a Moir\xe9 fringe pattern resulting from reflections of said radiation from said pair of gratings, and
using said Moir\xe9 fringe pattern for determination of displacement of said floating element to determine shear-stress.
9. The method of claim 8, wherein one of said pair of gratings comprises a grating disposed in or on said floating element.
10. The method of claim 8, wherein said sensor is a MEMS sensor, said MEMS sensor including a semiconducting or dielectric substrate.
11. The method of claim 10, wherein said substrate is substantially optically transparent to said electromagnetic radiation.
12. The method of claim 11, wherein said step of irradiating said sensor comprises applying incident radiation to said substrate.
13. The method of claim 10, wherein said substrate is single crystal silicon and said floating element is formed from said single crystal silicon.
14. The method of claim 10, wherein said substrate comprises silicon-on-insulator (SOI).
15. The method of claim 14, wherein said floating element formed in or on a Si-overlayer of said SOI substrate.
