1. A pedometer comprising:
a pedometer body including therein a measuring mechanism that make a measurement of a number of steps walked and a display that displays a result of said measurement;
an illumination lamp installed in said pedometer body;
a battery installed in said pedometer body;
a first window provided in said pedometer body so as to allow light of said illumination lamp to illuminate an outside of said pedometer body; and
a power switch provided on said pedometer body, said power switch being operable from an outside of said pedometer body so as to turn on and off said illumination lamp.
2. The pedometer according to claim 1, wherein said pedometer body is comprised of a main body unit and a lid member that is hingedly connected to said main body unit so as to open and close and covers said display when closed, and said illumination lamp and battery are installed in said lid member.
3. The pedometer according to claim 2, wherein said lid member is provided with an illumination unit that includes said illumination lamp and battery and is formed with a second window so that said illumination lamp illuminates said outside of said pedometer body as well as said display.
4. The pedometer according to claim 1, wherein said pedometer body is comprised of a main body unit and a lid member that is hingedly connected to said main body unit so as to open and close and covers said display when closed, and said lid member is comprised of a box-like lid member main body and an illumination unit that is removably installed in said box-like lid member main body.
5. The pedometer according to claim 4, wherein said illumination unit is removable from said box-like lid member main body for an entirety thereof.
6. The pedometer according to claim 4, wherein a part of said illumination unit is removable from said box-like lid member main body, said part being used for changing said battery.
7. The pedometer according to claim 4, wherein said box-like lid member main body is provided therein with a guide rail and said illumination unit is slidably provided on said guide rail.

1. A method comprising:
determining a genre classification for a document, the genre classification comprising multiple terms and corresponding scores, each score for a term indicating a confidence level for the term with respect to the document;
identifying a relevant node in a document control policy ontology by comparing the genre classification with the document control policy ontology;
assessing a confidence level for applicability of the relevant node based at least in part upon at least one of the scores;
selecting a parent node of the relevant node in the document control policy ontology to stand in for the relevant node if the assessed confidence level for applicability of the relevant node falls below a threshold; and
recommending at least one document control policy to govern access to the document based on the identified or selected relevant node in the document control policy ontology.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the determining comprises classifying the document using a document genre ontology comprising a hierarchical knowledge structure containing a vocabulary of terms and concepts, and inference chains representing interrelationships between the vocabulary terms and concepts, for document genre classification, the genre classification comprises a subset of the inference chains, and the identifying comprises checking terms associated with levels higher than a lowest level of respective ones of the subset of inference chains.
3. The method of claim 1, further comprising deriving a document control policy for a parent node in the document control policy ontology based on a combination of multiple document control policies associated with child nodes of the parent node in the document control policy ontology, and associating the derived document control policy with the parent node in the document control policy ontology.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein the derived document control policy comprises a derived security policy and a derived retention policy, and deriving the document control policy comprises:
combining Boolean values of security policies associated with the child nodes of the parent node to form the derived security policy; and
combining identified separate cases, which depend on variables associated with the multiple document control policies associated with child nodes, to form the derived retention policy.
5. The method of claim 3, wherein the deriving comprises deriving a document control policy that aggregates policy components, defaulting to more conservative policy components, from the multiple document control policies associated with the child nodes in the document control policy ontology.
6. The method of claim 3, wherein the deriving comprises recursively deriving document control policies for parent nodes in the document control policy ontology up to a root node; and wherein the deriving and the associating are performed before deployment of the document control policy ontology.
7. The method of claim 1, wherein the recommending comprises outputting multiple recommended document control policies and corresponding inference chains from the document control policy ontology.
8. The method of claim 1, further comprising automatically applying a highest ranked document control policy, from multiple recommended document control policies, to the document.
9. A system comprising:
a user interface device;
a document control component comprising a hierarchical knowledge structure including document control policies, including at least one document control policy inherited by a parent node in accordance with an algebraic maximum of rules associated with child nodes of the parent node; and
one or more computers operable to interact with the user interface device and the document control component to determine a genre classification for a document, compare the genre classification with the hierarchical knowledge structure to identify a relevant node among multiple nodes, including the parent node, and recommend at least one document control policy to govern access to the document based on the identified relevant node in the hierarchical knowledge structure.
10. The system of claim 9, wherein the one or more computers comprise a server operable to interact with the user interface device through a data communication network, and the user interface device is operable to interact with the server as a client.
11. The system of claim 9, wherein the one or more computers comprises one personal computer, and the personal computer comprises the user interface device.
12. The system of claim 9, further comprising:
a document genre ontology used for document genre classification, the document genre ontology comprising a hierarchical knowledge structure containing a vocabulary of terms and concepts, and inference chains representing interrelationships between the vocabulary terms and concepts;
an application program interface (API) configured to provide the document control component with access to selected elements in an inference chain in the document genre ontology;
wherein the document control component comprises a policy ontology component configured to recommend the at least one document control policy and including an interface through which a policy management component accesses the at least one document control policy for application to the document.
13. The system of claim 12, wherein the policy management component comprises a policy server.
14. The system of claim 9, the one or more computers further operable to derive a document control policy for a parent node in the hierarchical knowledge structure, in the document control component, based on a combination of multiple document control policies associated with child nodes of the parent node in the hierarchical knowledge structure; and to associate the derived document control policy with the parent node in the hierarchical knowledge structure.
15. The system of claim 9, the one or more computers further operable to output multiple recommended document control policies and corresponding inference chains from the hierarchical knowledge structure in the document control component.
16. The system of claim 9, the one or more computers further operable to automatically apply a highest ranked document control policy, from multiple recommended document control policies, to the document.
17. A computer program product, encoded on a computer-readable medium, operable to cause data processing apparatus to perform operations comprising:
receiving a genre classification for a document, the genre classification comprising multiple terms and corresponding scores, each score for a term indicating a confidence level for the term with respect to the document;
identifying a relevant node in a document control policy ontology by comparing the genre classification with the document control policy ontology;
assessing a confidence level for applicability of the relevant node based at least in part upon at least one of the scores;
selecting a parent node of the relevant node in the document control policy ontology to stand in for the relevant node if the assessed confidence level for applicability of the relevant node falls below a threshold; and
recommending at least one document control policy to govern access to the document based on the identified or selected relevant node in the document control policy ontology.
18. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the determining comprises classifying the document using a document genre ontology comprising a hierarchical knowledge structure containing a vocabulary of terms and concepts, and inference chains representing interrelationships between the vocabulary terms and concepts, for document genre classification; the genre classification comprises a subset of the inference chains; and the identifying comprises checking terms associated with levels higher than a lowest level of respective ones of the subset of inference chains.

1. A bottled water dispenser, which comprises:
(A) a cabinet having an exterior portion, which comprises side walls, a top wall, and a bottom wall;
(B) at least one water dispensing actuator, which comprises a cap portion, wherein an exterior top surface of the cap portion is flush with the top wall of the bottled water dispenser;
(C) a recessed area within one side wall, which is (1) adapted to receive a container into which water may be dispensed and (2) comprises a stop, wherein the stop is configured to make contact with the container when the container has been inserted into the recessed area a sufficient distance to receive dispensed water;
(D) two actuating mechanisms which must both be activated to dispense water, wherein:
(1) a first actuating mechanism comprising a button located on the cap portion, wherein the button is approximately parallel with a side wall and is activated by pressing the button inwards toward an interior portion of the water dispenser; and
(2) a second actuating mechanism is activated by pressing the exterior top surface of the cap portion downwards toward the interior portion of the water dispenser, wherein the second actuating mechanism (i) may not be activated unless the first actuating mechanism is activated; and (ii) comprises a push rod, wherein the push rod comprises a first portion that is operably coupled to the cap portion, a second portion that is received by a channel when the exterior top surface of the cap portion is pressed downwards, and a third portion that is operably coupled to a first end of a connecting rod, wherein:
(a) a second end of the connecting rod is rotatably attached to a water tap release, wherein upon pressing the exterior top surface of the cap portion downwards toward the interior of the water dispenser: (i) the first portion of the push rod is forced downward, causing the second portion to be inserted into the channel and the third portion to cause the connecting rod to be forced downward; (ii) a downward movement of the connecting rod causes the water tap release to rotate upwards about an axis, wherein the axis is located in an area where the connecting rod is attached to the water tap release; and (iii) the upwards rotation of the water tap release causes water to be dispensed from a spout; and
(b) the connecting rod is comprised of a flexible material and two dowel portions located at the second end thereof and is rotatably attached to the water tap release without screws, wherein the dowel portions are configured (i) to be received by corresponding apertures located in the water tap release and (ii) to serve as the axis about which the water tap release will rotate when the second actuating mechanism is activated.
2. The bottled water dispenser of claim 1, wherein the spout is located above the recessed area and not visible from outside of the water dispenser.
3. The bottled water dispenser of claim 1, wherein the channel comprises a spring which exerts a constant upwards force on the first and second portion of the push rod.
4. The bottled water dispenser of claim 1, wherein the dispenser comprises two water dispensing actuators, wherein a first actuator is configured to dispense cold water and a second actuator is configured to dispense hot water.

24. A method of scanning a document, comprising:
displaying, by scanner software, preview scan data generated in response to a preview scan of the document;
selecting a region of interest in the preview scan data;
presenting, from scanner software to an application software, one or more data formats for the selected region of interest;
receiving selection, by the application software, of one of the one or more data formats;
launching a second scan of the document; and
storing data relating to the second scan of the document in the selected one data format.
25. The method of claim 24, further comprising:
the scanner software determining a data type of the selected region of interest; and
the scanner software presenting the one or more data formats associated with the determined data type.
26. The method of claim 24, further comprising:
receiving user input indicating selection of the application software; and
in response to the user input indicating selection of the application software, the application software receiving the presented one or more data formats.
27. The method of claim 26, further comprising:
the application software determining whether any one of the presented one or more data formats is acceptable to the application software; and
in response to the application software determining that any one of the presented one or more data formats is acceptable, the application software notifying the scanner software that the application software is able to receive scan data.
28. The method of claim 27, further comprising:
in response to the application software determining that none of the one or more data formats is acceptable, the application software causing presentation of an indicator that receipt of scan data is not allowed.
29. The method of claim 24, further comprising:
receiving a click input at a location on the displayed preview scan data; and
evaluating preview scan data around the location of the click input to identify the region of interest.
30. The method of claim 24, further comprising:
displaying a window for the application software;
receiving user input indicating that the selected region of interest is to be moved to the window for the application software,
wherein receiving the selection of the one or more data formats and launching the second scan are performed in response to the user input.
31. The method of claim 24, further comprising:
displaying a desktop on a computer;
receiving user input indicating that the selected region of interest is to be moved to the desktop,
wherein receiving the selection of the one or more data formats and launching the second scan are performed in response to the user input; and
displaying an icon representing the data relating to the second scan in the desktop.
32. A system of scanning data, comprising:
scanner software;
a monitor to display preview scan data generated in response to a preview scan of a document launched by the scanner software,
the scanner software to select a region of interest in the preview scan data in response to user input; and
an application software to receive one or more data formats for the selected region of interest from the scanner software,
the application software to select one of the one or more data formats,
the scanner software to launch a second scan of the document and to store data relating to the second scan of the document in the selected one data format.
33. The system of claim 32, wherein the scanner software is adapted to:
determine a data type of the selected region of interest, and
present the one or more data formats associated with the determined data type.
34. The system of claim 32, wherein the application software is adapted to:
determine whether any one of the presented one or more data formats is acceptable to the application software, and
in response to determining that any one of the presented one or more data formats is acceptable, notify the scanner software that the application software is able to receive scan data.
