What is claimed is:

1. A flexible container comprising:
two webs sealed with respect to each other to form a void between said webs, each said web having at least two layers, a first web of said webs having a first thickness, said first web having a closure area, in at least a portion of said closure area said first web having a second thickness which is less than said first thickness, said first web having an opening at said closure area, and a layer of adhesive applied to said first web at said closure area.
2. The flexible container according to claim 1, wherein at said closure area said first web has a cutout area, and a fold layer is sealed to said first web at said cutout area.
3. The flexible container according to claim 2, wherein said fold layer is heat sealed to said first web.
4. The flexible container according to claim 2, wherein said fold layer is integrated with said first web.
5. The flexible container according to claim 1, further comprising a cover strip applied to said adhesive layer, wherein said adhesive layer is sandwiched between said closure area of said first web and said cover strip.
6. The flexible container according to claim 1, wherein said webs are sealed about a periphery of the flexible container.
7. The flexible container according to claim 1, wherein a first layer of said at least two layers is coextensive with a second layer of said at least two layers.
8. The flexible container according to claim 1, wherein said opening provides access to said void.
9. The flexible container according to claim 1, wherein said at least two layers comprise a first layer of a polyester or nylon material and a second layer of a polyethylene material.
10. The flexible container according to claim 1, wherein said opening comprises a slit positioned along a fold line passing through said closure area.
11. The flexible container according to claim 10, wherein near at least one of opposing end portions of said slit at least one of said webs has a structural relief.
12. The flexible container according to claim 11, wherein said structural relief comprises at least one of said layers of at least one of said webs having a reduced thickness at said fold line.
13. The flexible container according to claim 11, wherein said structural relief comprises at least one of said layers of at least one of said webs having a notched area.
14. The flexible container according to claim 13, wherein a material of said at least one said layer is removed at said notched area.
15. The flexible container according to claim 13, wherein said notched area extends at least partially between an outer edge of the flexible container and at least one of said end portions of said slit.
16. The flexible container according to claim 13, wherein said notched area extends inward from an outer edge of the flexible container, beyond one of said end portions of said slit.
17. The flexible container according to claim 13, wherein said webs are sealed with respect to each other with a heat seal, and said notched area extends into said heat seal.
18. The flexible container according to claim 11, wherein said structural relief comprises a second slit within each of said at least one of said webs.
19. The flexible container according to claim 11, wherein said structural relief comprises a score line within each of said at least one of said webs.
20. The flexible container according to claim 1, further comprising a secondary first web positioned adjacent said first web on one side of the flexible container.
21. A flexible container comprising:
two webs sealed with respect to each other to form a void between said webs, each said web having at least two layers, said first web having an opening at a closure area, a layer of adhesive applied to said first web at said closure area, and near said opening at least one of said webs having a structural relief.
22. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein said opening is positioned along a fold line passing through said closure area.
23. The flexible container according to claim 22, wherein said opening comprises a slit.
24. The flexible container according to claim 22, wherein said structural relief comprises at least one of said layers of at least one of said webs having a reduced thickness at said fold line.
25. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein said structural relief comprises at least one of said layers of at least one of said webs having a notched area.
26. The flexible container according to claim 25, wherein a material of said at least one said layer is removed at said notched area.
27. The flexible container according to claim 25, wherein said notched area extends at least partially between an outer edge of the flexible container and at least one of opposing end portions of said opening.
28. The flexible container according to claim 25, wherein said notched area extends inward from an outer edge of the flexible container, beyond one of said end portions of said slit.
29. The flexible container according to claim 25, wherein said webs are sealed with respect to each other with a heat seal, and said notched area extends into said heat seal.
30. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein said structural relief comprises a second slit within each of said at least one of said webs.
31. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein said structural relief comprises a score line within each of said at least one of said webs.
32. The flexible container according to claim 21, a first web of said webs has a first thickness, and in said closure area said first web having a second thickness which is less than said first thickness.
33. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein at said closure area said first web has a cutout area, and a fold layer is sealed to said first web about said cutout area.
34. The flexible container according to claim 33, wherein said fold layer is heat sealed to said first web.
35. The flexible container according to claim 33, wherein said fold layer is integrated with said first web.
36. The flexible container according to claim 21, further comprising a cover strip applied to said adhesive layer, wherein said adhesive layer is sandwiched between said closure area of said first web and said cover strip.
37. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein said webs are sealed about a periphery of the flexible container.
38. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein a first layer of said at least two layers is coextensive with a second layer of said at least two layers.
39. The flexible container according to claim 21, wherein said opening provides access to said void.
40. The flexible container according to claim 21, further comprising a secondary first web positioned adjacent said first web on one side of the flexible container.
41. A flexible container comprising:
two webs sealed with respect to each other to form a void between said webs, each said web having at least two layers, said first web having an opening at a closure area, a layer of adhesive applied to said first web at said closure area, and within at least a portion of said closure area at least one of said webs having an area of weakening near said opening.
42. The flexible container according to claim 41, wherein said opening is a slit.
43. The flexible container according to claim 42, wherein near at least one of opposing end portions of said slit at least one of said webs has a structural relief.
44. The flexible container according to claim 41, wherein said area of weakening comprises at said closure area said first web having a cutout area, and a fold layer sealed to said first web about said cutout area.
45. The flexible container according to claim 41, wherein said area of weakening comprises a first web of said webs having a first thickness, and in said closure area said first web having a second thickness which is less than said first thickness.
46. The flexible container according to claim 41, wherein said area of weakening comprises near said opening at least one of said webs having a structural relief.

1. An optical switching element, comprising:
a multi-layered optical switching layer that contains a charge generation layer and a charge transport layer; or
a mono-layered optical switching layer that has a charge generating function and a charge transporting function,
wherein the charge transport layer or the mono-layered optical switching layer contains a charge transporting material represented by the following general formula (1):

wherein R1 and R3 each independently represent CH3 or C2H5, and R2 and R4 each independently represent H, CH3 or C2H5.
2. The optical switching element of claim 1, wherein the charge transporting material is contained in the charge transport layer at a concentration of 30% to 90% by weight.
3. The optical switching element of claim 1, wherein the charge transporting material is contained in the charge transport layer at a concentration of 45% to 80% by weight.
4. The optical switching element of claim 1, wherein the charge transporting material is contained in the charge transport layer at a concentration of 50% to 70% by weight.
5. A device, comprising:
the optical switching element of claim 1; and
a functional element electrically connected to the optical switching element.
6. A photoaddressable display medium, comprising:
a pair of electrodes, at least one of which has optical transparency;
the optical switching element of claim 1; and
a display element including a display layer having a memory effect, wherein
the optical switching element and the display element are laminated between the pair of electrodes.
7. The photoaddressable display medium of claim 6, wherein the display element is a color display element having a plurality of display layers, and each of the plurality of display layers is a cholesteric liquid crystal display layer that selectively reflects visible light beams of a color that is different from the color of the visible light beams selectively reflected by any other one of the plurality of display layers.
8. A display device, comprising:
the photoaddressable display medium of claim 7;
a unit for driving the display medium; and
a unit for optically writing to the display medium.
9. The optical switching element of claim 1, wherein the charge transporting material represented by general formula (1) is a charge transporting material represented by the following general formula (2):

wherein R1 and R3 each independently represent CH3 or C2H5, and R2 and R4 each independently represent H, CH3 or C2H5.
10. A device, comprising:
the optical switching element of claim 9; and
a functional element electrically connected to the optical switching element.
11. A photoaddressable display medium, comprising:
a pair of electrodes, at least one of which has optical transparency;
the optical switching element of claim 9; and
a display element including a display layer having a memory effect, wherein
the optical switching element and the display element are laminated between the pair of electrodes.
12. The photoaddressable display medium of claim 11, wherein the display element is a color display element having a plurality of display layers, and each of the plurality of display layers is a cholesteric liquid crystal display layer that selectively reflects visible light beams of a color that is different from the color of the visible light beams selectively reflected by any other one of the plurality of display layers.
13. A display device, comprising:
the photoaddressable display medium of claim 12;
a unit for driving the display medium; and
a unit for optically writing to the display medium.
14. The optical switching element of claim 9, wherein R1 and R3 each represent CH3, and R2 and R4 each represent C2H5.
15. A device, comprising:
the optical switching element of claim 14; and
a functional element electrically connected to the optical switching element.
16. A photoaddressable display medium, comprising:
a pair of electrodes, at least one of which has optical transparency;
the optical switching element of claim 14; and
a display element including a display layer having a memory effect, wherein
the optical switching element and the display element are laminated between the pair of electrodes.

the photoaddressable display medium of claim 17;

1. A lighting device comprising:
a plurality of linear light sources disposed in parallel;
a chassis housing the linear light sources and having an opening through which light from the linear light sources exits; and
an optical member facing the linear light sources and disposed to cover the opening, wherein:
the chassis is defined in a light source high-density region and a light source low-density region, and the linear light sources are arranged at relatively small intervals in the light source high-density region and the light sources are arranged at relatively large intervals in the light source low-density region; and
the optical member includes a light reflection portion at least in a portion overlapping with the light source low-density region and configured to reflect light from the linear light sources in the light source low-density region.
2. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the optical member includes the light reflection portion in a portion overlapping with the linear light source in planar view.
3. The lighting device according to claim 2, wherein the light reflection portion is longer in length in a lateral direction of the linear light source in planar view than the linear light source.
4. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the optical member includes the light reflection portion such that light reflectance of the optical member is highest in a portion overlapping with the light source low-density region.
5. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the optical member includes the light reflection portion on a surface facing the linear light source.
6. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the optical member includes the light reflection portion printed thereon.
7. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the chassis includes the light source high-density region in a middle portion thereof.
8. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the chassis includes the light source low-density region in a portion located on an outer side of a middle portion thereof.
9. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the light source high-density region is smaller in area than the light source low-density region.
10. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein:
the chassis is rectangular in planar view; and
the linear light sources are disposed such that a longitudinal direction thereof corresponds to a long side direction of the chassis.
11. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the linear light source is a cold cathode tube.
12. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the linear light source is a hot cathode tube.
13. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the linear light sources include point light sources arranged on an elongated board.
14. The lighting device according to claim 13, further comprising a diffuser lens configured to diffuse light from the point light source, the diffuser lens being provided on a light exit side of the point light source provided at least in the light source low-density region.
15. The lighting device according to claim 14, wherein the diffuser lens is circular in planar view.
16. The lighting device according to claim 14, wherein:
the diffuser lens includes a light incident surface and a light incident side recess formed on the light incident surface, and the light incident surface faces the point light source and light from the point light source enters the light incident surface, and the light incident side recess is formed on a portion of the light incident surface overlapping with the point light source and recessed into an optical member side and; and
the light incident side recess has an inclined sidewall facing the point light source.
17. The lighting device according to claim 14, wherein the diffuser lens includes a light exit surface and a light exit side recess, and the light entering the light incident surface exits from the light exit surface, and the light exit side recess is formed on a portion of the light exit surface overlapping with the point light source and recessed into a point light source side.
18. The lighting device according to claim 14, wherein at least the light incident surface of the diffuser lens is surface-roughened.
19. The lighting device according to claim 14, wherein the point light source is an LED.
20. The lighting device according to claim 1, wherein the optical member is a light diffusing member configured to diffuse light from the linear light sources.
21. A display device comprising:
the lighting device according to claim 1; and
a display panel configured to perform display by use of light from the lighting device.
22. The display device according to claim 21, wherein the display panel is a liquid crystal panel using a liquid crystal.
23. A television receiver comprising the display device according to claim 21.

1. An elbow-support apparatus comprising:
An elbow-support cushion device provided with opposed sides and top, front, back and bottom sides;
said cushion device arranged in removable mechanical communication with a shoulder-lap-belt harness in a vehicle, which shoulder harness is removably connected across a driver’s shoulder to a latch assembly and providing undiminished driver protection;
flexible cushion means constructed and arranged to support the elbows of a driver of a vehicle;
a plurality of integrally formed inverted u-shape locating means formed on the bottom side of said flexible cushion device and constructed and arranged to fit the thigh areas of the driver to prevent lateral movement of said device;
first fastening means attached to said opposed sides and to complementary mounting pads attachable to opposed sides of a front seat of a motor vehicle for restraining upward and lateral movement and to hold the cushion device steady in the driver’s lap; and
second fastening means attached to the back side of said cushion device and arranged in mechanical communication with the lap belt portion of the shoulder harness to prevent forward movement of the device.
2. An elbow-support cushion device as defined in claim 1, wherein the device is cloth stuffed with flexible material.
3. An elbow-support cushion device as defined in claim 1, wherein the device is foam rubber.
4. An elbow-support cushion device as defined in claim 1, wherein the device is an inflatable rubber cushion.
5. An elbow-support cushion device as defined in claim 1, wherein the device is an inflatable plastic cushion.
6. The cushion device of claim 1 wherein said second fastening means comprises a plurality of clamps attached to the back side of said elbow support cushion device.
7. The elbow-support cushion device as defined in claim 1, further comprising an apron attached to the front of the device for covering the lap and knee area of the driver.
