1. A user equipment, handling an attach procedure with a service network, comprising:
a wireless module transmitting an attach request message to the service network and receiving an attach accept message replied to the attach request message from the service network; and
a controller determining whether to accept the attach accept message, sending an attach complete message, via the wireless module, to the service network in response to the attach accept message being accepted, and resending the attach request message, via the wireless module, to the service network in response to the attach accept message not being accepted.
2. The user equipment of claim 1, further comprising a retry counter, wherein the retry counter is initialized to 0 before starting the attach procedure, increased upon resending the attach request message, and reset when the attach procedure ends.
3. The user equipment of claim 2, wherein the attach request message is resent with a resent cause when the retry counter is less than a predetermined number.
4. The user equipment of claim 3, wherein the controller further determines whether the retry counter is less than the predetermined number, and sends a detach request message, via the wireless module, to the service network in response of that the retry counter is greater than or equal to the predetermined number.
5. A method for a user equipment to handle an attach procedure with a service network, comprising:
sending an attach request message to the service network;
receiving an attach accept message replied to the attach request message from the service network;
determining whether to accept the attach accept message;
sending an attach complete message to the service network in response to the attach accept message being accepted; and
resending the attach request message to the service network in response to the attach accept message not being accepted.
6. The method of claim 5, further comprises initializing a retry counter to 0 before starting the attach procedure, increasing the retry counter upon resending the attach request message, and resetting the retry counter when the attach procedure ends.
7. The method of claim 6, wherein the attach request message is resent with a resent cause when the retry counter is less than a predetermined number.
8. The method of claim 7, further comprises determining whether the retry counter is less than the predetermined number, and sending a detach message to the service network in response of that the retry counter is greater than or equal to the predetermined number.
9. A service network, handling an attach procedure with a user equipment, comprising:
a radio access network receiving an attach request message from the user equipment, sending a first attach accept message to the user equipment in response to the attach request message, and receiving a response message from the user equipment; and
a control node determining that the attach procedure has ended successfully in response to the response message being an attach complete message, aborting the attach procedure and initiating a new attach procedure by sending a second attach accept message, via the radio access network, to the user equipment in response to the response message being the attach request message resent by the user equipment, and aborting the attach procedure and sending a detach accept message, via the radio access network, to the user equipment in response to the response message being a detach request message.
10. The service network of claim 9, wherein the attach complete message is sent upon the first attach accept message being accepted by the user equipment.
11. The service network of claim 9, wherein the attach request message resent by the user equipment is resent with a resent cause upon the first attach accept message not being accepted by the user equipment.
12. The service network of claim 9, wherein the detach request message is sent, upon the first attach accept message not being accepted by the user equipment and the number of resending the attach request message being greater than or equal to a predetermined number.
13. A method for a service network to handle an attach procedure with a user equipment, comprising:
receiving an attach request message from the user equipment;
sending a first attach accept message to the user equipment in response to the attach request message;
receiving a response message from the user equipment;
determining that the attach procedure has ended successfully in response to the response message being an attach complete message;
aborting the attach procedure and initiating a new attach procedure by sending a second attach accept message to the user equipment in response to the response message being the attach request message resent by the user equipment; and
aborting the attach procedure and sending a detach accept message to the user equipment in response to the response message being a detach request message.
14. The method of claim 13, wherein the attach complete message is sent upon the first attach accept message being accepted by the user equipment.
15. The method of claim 13, wherein the attach request message resent by the user equipment is resent with a resent cause upon the first attach accept message not being accepted by the user equipment.
16. The method of claim 13, wherein the detach request message is sent, upon the first attach accept message not being accepted by the user equipment and the number of resending the attach request message being greater than or equal to a predetermined number.
17. A mobile communication system, handling an attach procedure, comprising:
a user equipment sending an attach request message, receiving a first attach accept message replied to the attach request message, determining whether to accept the first attach accept message, sending an attach complete message in response to the first attach accept message being accepted, and resending the attach request message in response to the first attach accept message not being accepted; and
a service network receiving the attach request message, sending the first attach accept message to the user equipment in response to the attach request message, determining that the attach procedure has ended successfully upon receiving the attach complete message, and aborting the attach procedure and initiating a new attach procedure by sending a second attach accept message to the user equipment upon receiving the attach request message resent by the user equipment.
18. The mobile communication system of claim 17, wherein the attach request message resent by the user equipment is resent with a resent cause when the number of resending the attach request message is less than a predetermined number.
19. The mobile communication system of claim 18, wherein the user equipment further determines whether the number of resending the attach request message is less than the predetermined number, and sends a detach request message to the service network in response of that the number of resending the attach request message is greater than or equal to the predetermined number.
20. The mobile communication system of claim 19, wherein the service network further aborts the attach procedure and sends a detach accept message to the user equipment upon receiving the detach request message.

1. A method for qualifying a telephone line for very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (\u201cVDSL\u201d) service, comprising:
querying a network database for an equivalent working length (\u201cEWL\u201d) of a neighboring telephone line, the network database comprising a plurality of determined VDSL qualifications and a plurality of telephone makeup information for at least one or more telephone lines neighboring a telephone line;
determining whether to prequalify the telephone line for VDSL service based on an EWL of the telephone line and the EWL of the neighboring telephone line;
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL data qualified based on a measured VDSL rate of the telephone line and a VDSL rate threshold; and
updating the network database with the determined VDSL data qualification of the telephone line.
2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
measuring the VDSL rate of the telephone line.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein determining whether to prequalify the telephone line for VDSL service further comprises:
determining whether to prequalify the telephone line for VDSL service based on the EWL length of the telephone line and an EWL threshold.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein the telephone line is qualified as VDSL data qualified if the measured VDSL rate exceeds the VDSL rate threshold.
5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL video qualified based on a measured VDSL video quality of the telephone line; and
updating the network database with the determined VDSL video qualification of the telephone line.
6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:
measuring the VDSL video quality of the VDSL.
7. The method of claim 5, wherein the telephone line is qualified as VDSL video qualified if the measured VDSL video quality exceeds a VDSL video quality threshold.
8. The method of claim 5, further comprising:
qualifying the telephone line as not VDSL data qualified and not VDSL video qualified;
collecting telephone makeup information regarding the telephone line; and
determining that the telephone line can be repaired to sustain VDSL data and video service based on the collected telephone makeup information.
9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:
repairing the telephone line to sustain VDSL data and video service; and
repeating the steps of:
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL data qualified; and
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL video qualified.
10. The method of claim 1, wherein the collected telephone makeup information comprises at least one of insertion loss, background noise, impedance, impulse noise, telephone line noise, tap length, tap location, power spectrum density of background noise, or count of impulse noise in a unit of time.
11. A computer-readable storage medium comprising a set of instructions for qualification a telephone line for very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (\u201cVDSL\u201d) service, the set of instructions to direct a processor to perform acts of:
querying a network database for an equivalent working length (\u201cEWL\u201d) of a neighboring telephone line, the network database comprising a plurality of determined VDSL qualifications and a plurality of telephone makeup information for at least one or more telephone lines neighboring a telephone line;
determining whether to prequalify the telephone line for VDSL service based on an EWL of the telephone line and the EWL of the neighboring telephone line;
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL data qualified based on a measured VDSL rate of the telephone line and a VDSL rate threshold; and
updating the network database with the determined VDSL data qualification of the telephone line.
12. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 11, further comprising a set of instructions to direct a processor to perform acts of:
measuring the VDSL rate of the telephone line.
13. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 11, further comprising a set of instructions to direct a processor to perform acts of:
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL video qualified based on a measured VDSL video quality of the telephone line; and
updating the network database with the determined VDSL video qualification of the telephone line.
14. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 13, further comprising a set of instructions to direct a processor to perform acts of:
measuring the VDSL video quality of the VDSL.
15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 13, further comprising a set of instructions to direct a processor to perform acts of:
qualifying the telephone line as not VDSL data qualified and not VDSL video qualified;
collecting telephone makeup information regarding the telephone line; and
determining that the telephone line can be repaired to sustain VDSL data and video service based on the collected telephone makeup information.
16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, further comprising a set of instructions to direct a processor to perform acts of:
repairing the telephone line to sustain VDSL data and video service; and
repeating the steps of:
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL data qualified; and
determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL video qualified.

The computer-readable storage medium of claim 10, wherein the collected telephone makeup information comprises at least one of insertion loss, background noise, impedance, impulse noise, telephone line noise, tap length, tap location, power spectrum density of background noise, or count of impulse noise in a unit of time.
18. A server for qualifying a telephone line for very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber lien (\u201cVDSL\u201d) service, comprising:
a memory for use in storing data and instructions; and
a processor in communication with the memory, the processor operative to enable actions based on the stored instructions;
wherein the instructions stored in the memory comprise:
programming code for querying a network database for an equivalent working length (\u201cEWL\u201d) of a neighboring telephone line, the network database comprising a plurality of determined VDSL qualifications and a plurality of telephone makeup information for at least one or more telephone lines neighboring a telephone line;
programming code for determining whether to prequalify the telephone line for VDSL service based on an EWL of the telephone line and the EWL of the neighboring telephone line;
programming code for determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL data qualified based on a measured VDSL rate of the telephone line and a VDSL rate threshold; and
programming code for updating the network database with the determined VDSL data qualification of the telephone line.
19. The server of claim 18, wherein the instructions stored in the memory further comprise:
programming code for determining whether to qualify the telephone line as VDSL video qualified based on a measured VDSL video quality of the telephone line; and
programming code for updating the network database with the determined VDSL video qualification of the telephone line.
20. The server of claim 19, wherein the instructions stored in the memory further comprise:
programming code for measuring the VDSL rate of the telephone line; and
programming code for measuring the VDSL video quality of the VDSL.
21. A method for prequalifying a telephone line for very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line (\u201cVDSL\u201d) service, comprising:
querying a network database for an equivalent working length (\u201cEWL\u201d) of a neighboring telephone line, the network database comprising a plurality of determined VDSL qualifications and a plurality of telephone makeup information for at least one or more telephone lines neighboring a telephone line;
determining whether to prequalify the telephone line for VDSL service based on an EWL of the telephone line and the EWL of the neighboring telephone line; and
updating the network database with the determined VDSL data pre qualification of the telephone line.

1. A system for providing content to a plurality of mobile electronic devices, at least some of the mobile electronic devices having wireless communications capabilities, the system comprising:
a first network comprising:
a wireless portion;
a wired portion;
a wireless network system for permitting communication with at least some of the mobile electronic devices through wireless sessions;
a wired to wireless gateway module connected to the wireless network system for interfacing between said wireless portion and said wired portion;
a session control module interfacing with the wired to wireless gateway module for managing the wireless sessions and wired sessions; and
a relay server module interfacing with the session control module and the wired to wireless gateway module; and

a second network comprising:
an external server for providing data content to the mobile electronic devices, the external server adapted to communicate directly with either the relay server module or the wired to wireless gateway module to induce establishment of a session between said external server and at least one mobile electronic device among said plurality of mobile electronic devices;

the session control module adapted to:
initiate a session establishment request between the electronic device and the external server;
determine that the relay server is to be used;
determine that a direct link between the electronic device and the external server has not been requested; and
establish a session between the electronic device and the relay server.
2. The system according to claim 1, wherein the first network is an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) enabled network having a transport plane, a session control plane, and a service plane.
3. The system according to claim 2, wherein the wireless network system and the wired to wireless gateway module are members of the transport plane, the session control module is a member of the session control plane, and the relay server module is a member of the service plane.
4. The system according to claim 3, wherein the external server is a member of the transport plane, is configured as a peer to the mobile electronic devices and communicates with the relay server as IMS-enabled user equipment.
5. The system according to claim 4, wherein the session control module is adapted to:
receive requests for the wireless sessions from the mobile electronic devices; and
negotiate aspects of the wireless sessions with the relay server module, the wireless sessions being selected from the group consisting of transient sessions and permanent sessions.
6. The system according to claim 4, wherein the session control module is adapted to:
receive requests, for one or more wireless sessions, from the external server; and
negotiate aspects of the wired sessions with the relay server module.
7. The system according to claim 4, further comprising:
one or more servers being members of the session control plane and the service plane, the wired to wireless gateway module, the session control module, and the relay server module being implemented as software modules running on the one or more servers.
8. The system according to claim 7, further comprising:
a server dedicated to and executing the wired to wireless gateway module;
a server dedicated to and executing the session control module and
a server dedicated to and executing the relay server module,
the servers being interconnected by a network and each executing one of the modules.
9. The system according to claim 4, wherein the second network is a private enterprise network and the external server is an email server.
10. The system according to claim 4, wherein the wireless network system comprises:
a wireless network gateway interfacing with the wired to wireless gateway module; and
one or more transceivers coupled to the wireless network gateway.
11. The system according to claim 4, wherein the external server is adapted to communicate with the mobile electronic devices through the wired to wireless gateway module when granted a session to do so by the relay server module or the session control module.
12. A method of establishing a communication session between an electronic device and a communications system, the communications system being arranged to provide content to a plurality of mobile electronic devices, at least some of the mobile electronic devices having wireless communications capabilities, the communications system including:
a first network having:
a wireless network system for communicating with at least some of the mobile electronic devices through wireless sessions;
a wired to wireless gateway module connected to the wireless network system for interfacing between a wireless portion of the first network and a wired portion of the first network;
a session control module interfacing with the wired to wireless gateway module for managing the wireless sessions and wired sessions; and
a relay server module interfacing with the session control module and the wired to wireless gateway module; and

a second network having:
an external server for providing content to the mobile electronic devices through one or more sessions,

the method comprising:
at the session control module, initiating a session establishment request between the electronic device and the external server;
determining that the relay server is to be used;
determining that a direct link between the electronic device and the external server has not been requested;
establishing a session between the electronic device and the relay server;
determining session specifications to be applied to the requested session; and
at said session control module, establishing a session between the mobile electronic device and the external server incorporating direct communication between the external server and the relay server module, the session having the session specifications and corresponding to the request.
13. The method according to claim 12, wherein the established session is an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) enabled session.
14. The method according to claim 12, wherein the session is an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) enabled session, with the electronic device being one of the mobile electronic devices and the external server being treated as a peer to the mobile electronic devices with sessions involving the external server also being IMS enabled sessions.
15. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing instructions, which may be executed on a programmed processor to facilitate electronic device session establishment for use with a communications system, the communications system being arranged to provide content to a plurality of mobile electronic devices, at least some of the mobile electronic devices having wireless communications capabilities, the communications system including:
a first network having:
a wireless network system for communicating with at least some of the mobile electronic devices through wireless sessions;
a wired to wireless gateway module connected to the wireless network system for interfacing between a wireless portion of the first network and a wired portion of the first network;
a session control module interfacing with the wired to wireless gateway module for managing the wireless sessions and wired sessions; and
a relay server module interfacing with the session control module and the wired to wireless gateway module; and

a second network having:
an external server for providing content to the mobile electronic devices through one or more sessions,

said instructions causing said processor to:
initiate a session establishment request between the electronic device and the external server;
determine that the relay server is to be used;
determine that a direct link between the electronic device and the external server has not been requested;
establish a session between the electronic device and the relay server;
determine session specifications to be applied to the requested session; and
establish a session between the mobile electronic device and the external server by direct communication between the external server and either the relay server module or the wired to wireless gateway module, the session having the session specifications and corresponding to the request.
