A method of determining skin anisotropy of a subject, said method comprising measuring rates of propagation of mechanical energy between a mechanical energy generator and a mechanical energy detector along a plurality of directions of an expanse of skin wherein each of said directions are from about 0\xb0 to about 10\xb0 in separation relative at least one other of said directions and at least two of said directions are from about 30\xb0 to about 180\xb0 in separation relative to each other.
2. A method of claim 1, wherein at least two of said directions are at least about 90\xb0 in separation relative to each other.
3. A method of claim 1, wherein each of said directions are from about 0\xb0 to about 5\xb0 in separation relative to least one other of said directions.

5. A method of claim 1 wherein the rate of propagation along one of said directions is at least about 3 times the first rate of propagation along one of the other directions.
6. A method of claim 1, wherein a distance between said mechanical energy generator and said mechanical energy detector is from about 0.5 mm and about 5 mm.
7. A method of claim 1, wherein said mechanical energy generator and said mechanical energy detector are transducers.
8. A method of claim 1 wherein the expanse of skin has a location selected from a group consisting of the upper inner arm, the jaw, the upper inner thigh, the abdomen, and the neck.
9. A method of claim 1 wherein the expanse of skin is located on the upper inner arm.
10. A method of claim 1 wherein said mechanical energy comprises an elastic shear wave.
11. A method of claim 1 wherein said mechanical energy has a frequency from about 0.5 kHz to about 30 kHz.
12. A method of claim 1, said method further comprising determining a skin anisotropy parameter based on said measured rates and comparing said skin anisotropy parameter to a standard skin anisotropy parameter that is associated with skin age.
13. A method of determining the efficacy of a skin treatment said comprising the steps of:
(i) measuring a first set of rates of propagation of mechanical energy along a plurality of first directions of an expanse of skin wherein each of said first directions are from about 0\xb0 to about 10\xb0 in separation relative at least one other of said first directions and at least two of said first directions are from about 30\xb0 to about 180\xb0 in separation relative to each other;
(ii) administering a treatment to said expanse of skin; and
(iii) measuring a second set of rates of propagation of mechanical energy along a plurality of second directions of an expanse of skin wherein each of said second directions are from about 0\xb0 to about 10\xb0 in separation relative at least one other of said second directions and at least two of said second directions are from about 30\xb0 to about 180\xb0 in separation relative to each other; and
(iv) comparing said first set and said second set.
14. A method of claim 13 wherein said treatment comprises applying a topical composition to the expanse of skin.
15. A method of claim 13 wherein said treatment comprises applying a device to the expanse of skin.
16. A method of claim 13, wherein at least two of said directions are at least about 90\xb0 in separation relative to each other.
17. A method of claim 13, wherein each of said directions are from about 0\xb0 to about 5\xb0 in separation relative to least one other of said directions.
18. A method of claim 16, wherein each of said directions are from about 0\xb0 to about 5\xb0 in separation relative to least one other of said directions.

5. A method according to claim 4, wherein the heating comprises heating the irradiated packaging material to a temperature which does not exceed 200\xb0 C.
6. A method according to claim 5, wherein the heating comprises heating the irradiated packaging material to a temperature within the temperature interval 40\xb0 C. to 95\xb0 C.
7. A method according to claim 4, wherein the heating is performed using infrared radiation.
8. A method according to claim 4, wherein the heating is performed using an oven.
9. A method according to claim 4, wherein the heating is performed by applying a flow of heated air to the packaging material.

19. A method for sterilizing polymer packaging material in packaging for protein containing products, the method comprising:
irradiating the polymer packaging material using ionizing radiation,
subsequently processing the polymer packaging material in such a manner that any protein reactive substances or compounds formed in the polymer packaging material during the irradiation are at least partly removed or rendered unreactive with respect to proteins,
positioning a protein containing product in packaging formed by the polymer packaging material, and
sealing the packaging having the protein containing product positioned therein,
wherein the processing is performed in such a manner that an impurity level in the protein containing product after storage in the packaging for 10 weeks at 5\xb0 C. is within 1.5% of a corresponding impurity level in a comparable protein containing product positioned in a packaging made from a sterilized glass material under similar storage conditions.
20. A method according to claim 19, wherein the processing is performed by accelerating diffusion from the packaging material of protein reactive substances or compounds formed in the packaging material during the irradiation step.
21. A method according to claim 19, wherein the processing comprises heating the packaging material.
22. A method according to claim 21, wherein the heating comprises heating the packaging material to a temperature which does not exceed 200\xb0 C.
23. A method according to claim 22, wherein the heating comprises heating the packaging material to a temperature within the temperature interval 40\xb0 C. to 95\xb0 C.
24. A method according to claim 21, wherein the heating is performed by applying a flow of heated air to the packaging material.
25. A method according to claim 19, wherein the processing comprises subjecting the packaging material to a vacuum.
26. An apparatus for sterilizing packaging material in packaging for protein containing products, the apparatus comprising:
an irradiation station comprising means for emitting ionizing radiation towards the packaging material,
a processing station comprising means for processing the irradiated packaging material in such a manner that diffusion of protein reactive substances or compounds formed in the packaging material during irradiation is accelerated, and
means for conveying the packaging material at least between the irradiation station and the processing station.
27. An apparatus according to claim 26, wherein the means for emitting ionizing radiation comprises an electron beam emitter.
28. An apparatus according to claim 26, wherein the processing means comprises means for heating the packaging material.

1. A polyolefin resin composition comprising component (A) defined below, 0.001 to 10 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of component (A), of component (B) defined below and 0.01 to 100 parts by weight, based on 100 parts by weight of component (A), of component (C) defined below:
component (A): polyolefin resin, except polyolefin resin which has been graft-modified with a compound selected from the group consisting of unsaturated carboxylic acids and their derivatives;
component (B): carbon black which satisfies requirements (1) and (2) defined below:
requirement (1): containing a volatile component in an amount of less than 0.2% by weight as measured by the method provided in JIS X6221;
requirement (2): containing at least one element selected from the group consisting of iron, nickel, copper, cobalt, aluminum, manganese and vanadium an amount, based on the weight of the carbon black, of 4 ppm or less;
component (C): stabilizer.

component (E): polyolefin resin which has been graft-modified with a compound selected from the group consisting of unsaturated carboxylic acids and their derivatives.
5. The composition according to claim 2 wherein component (D) is fiber.

9. A molded article obtained by molding the composition according to any one of claims 1 to 8.
