1. A method for providing a base station-assigned public long code mask (PLCM) for a wireless communication device, comprising:
generating a base transceiver subsystem (BTS) identifier for a base transceiver subsystem;
generating a reusable wireless communication device(WCD) identifier for the wireless communication device when the wireless communication device communicates with the base transceiver subsystem; and
assigning a PLCM to the wireless communication device, the PLCM comprising the BTS identifier and the WCD identifier.
2. The method of claim 1, the BTS identifier comprising an identifier unique to the base transceiver subsystem.
3. The method of claim 1, the BTS identifier comprising an identifier based on a unique characteristic of the base transceiver subsystem.
4. The method of claim 3, the unique characteristic of the base transceiver subsystem comprising latitude and longitude information.
5. The method of claim 4, generating a BTS identifier for a base transceiver subsystem comprising generating reduced latitude information and reduced longitude information.
6. The method of claim 5, generating reduced latitude information and reduced longitude information comprising shifting the latitude and longitude information and performing a mod operation on the shifted latitude and longitude information.
7. The method of claim 1, the PLCM further comprising a predefined segment operable to distinguish between private and public long code masks and to differentiate between Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID)-generated PLCMs and base station-assigned PLCMs.
8. The method of claim 1, the PLCM further comprising a sector identifier operable to identify a sector.
9. The method of claim 1, further comprising releasing the WCD identifier when one of a hard handoff and a call ending occurs.
10. The method of claim 1, further comprising continuing to allow the wireless communication device to use the PLCM when a soft handoff occurs.
11. A base station operable to provide a base station-assigned public long code mask (PLCM) for a wireless communication device, comprising:
a base transceiver subsystem comprising a unique characteristic; and
a PLCM assigner operable to generate a base transceiver subsystem (BTS) identifier for the base transceiver subsystem based on the unique characteristic, to generate a reusable wireless communication device (WCD) identifier for the wireless communication device when the wireless communication device communicates with the base transceiver subsystem, and to assign a PLCM to the wireless communication device, the PLCM comprising the BTS identifier and the WCD identifier.
12. The base station of claim 11, the BTS identifier comprising an identifier unique to the base transceiver subsystem.
13. The base station of claim 11, the unique characteristic of the base transceiver subsystem comprising latitude and longitude information.
14. The base station of claim 13, the PLCM assigner operable to generate the BTS identifier by generating reduced latitude information and reduced longitude information.
15. The base station of claim 14, the PLCM assigner operable to generate reduced latitude information and reduced longitude information by shifting the latitude and longitude information and performing a mod operation on the shifted latitude and longitude information.
16. The base station of claim 11, the PLCM further comprising a predefined segment operable to distinguish between private and public long code masks and to differentiate between Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID)-generated PLCMs and base station-assigned PLCMs.
17. The base station of claim 11, the PLCM further comprising a sector identifier operable to identify a sector.
18. The base station of claim 11, the PLCM assigner further operable to release the WCD identifier when one of a hard handoff and a call ending occurs.
19. The base station of claim 11, the PLCM assigner further operable to allow the wireless communication device to continue to use the PLCM when a soft handoff occurs.
20. A wireless network comprising a plurality of base stations capable of communication with mobile stations in a coverage area of said wireless network, wherein each of said plurality of base stations is configured to provide a base station-assigned public long code mask (PLCM) to a mobile station, said each base station comprising:
a base transceiver subsystem comprising a unique characteristic; and
a PLCM assigner operable to generate a base transceiver subsystem (BTS) identifier for the base transceiver subsystem based on the unique characteristic, to generate a reusable wireless communication device (WCD) identifier for the wireless communication device when the wireless communication device communicates with the base transceiver subsystem, and to assign a PLCM to the wireless communication device, the PLCM comprising the BTS identifier and the WCD identifier.
21. The wireless network of claim 20, the BTS identifier comprising an identifier unique to the base transceiver subsystem.
22. The wireless network of claim 20, the unique characteristic of the base transceiver subsystem comprising latitude and longitude information.
23. The wireless network of claim 22, the PLCM assigner operable to generate the BTS identifier by generating reduced latitude information and reduced longitude information.
24. The wireless network of claim 23, the PLCM assigner operable to generate reduced latitude information and reduced longitude information by shifting the latitude and longitude information and performing a mod operation on the shifted latitude and longitude information.
25. The wireless network of claim 20, the PLCM further comprising a predefined segment operable to distinguish between private and public long code masks and to differentiate between Mobile Equipment Identifier (MEID)-generated PLCMs and base station-assigned PLCMs.
26. The wireless network of claim 20, the PLCM further comprising a sector identifier operable to identify a sector.
27. The wireless network of claim 20, the PLCM assigner further operable to release the WCD identifier when one of a hard handoff and a call ending occurs.
28. The wireless network of claim 20, the PLCM assigner further operable to allow the wireless communication device to continue to use the PLCM when a soft handoff occurs.

1. A composition comprised of aromatic amines with crosslinkable silanes, which composition is represented by the following Formula I

wherein A is a hole transporting aromatic tertiary amine moiety; L1 and L2 represent independently a divalent group of an alkylene or a substituted alkylene; X is oxygen or an imino group; Y is an alkoxy group, or a halide atom; R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and n represents the number of segments and optionally is a number of from 1 to about 5.
2. A composition in accordance with claim 1 wherein L1 and L2 are independently selected from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, propylene, butylene and pentylene.
3. A composition in accordance with claim 1 wherein A is selected from the group consisting of

wherein R1 to R23 are independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl with from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, a cyclic alkyl with from 1 to about 10 atoms, an alkoxyl group with from 1 to about 5 carbon atoms, or a halogen.

7. A composition in accordance with claim 1 wherein Y is selected from the group consisting of chloride and bromide.
8. A composition in accordance with claim 1 wherein R is a hydrogen atom.
9. A photoconductive imaging member comprised of charge transport composition comprised of a hole transport segment of Formula (IV)

wherein A represents a hole transporting aromatic tertiary amine moiety; L1 and L2 represents a divalent group of an alkylene; X represents oxygen or an imino group; R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; and n represents the number of repeating segments.
10. A member in accordance with claim 9 wherein L1 and L2 are independently selected from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, propylene, butylene and pentylene.
11. A member in accordance with claim 9 wherein A is selected from the group consisting of

13. A photoconductive imaging member comprised of a photogenerating layer and a charge transport layer, and wherein the charge transport layer is comprised of a hole transport composition comprised of an amine of Formula (IV)

wherein A represents a charge transporting aromatic tertiary amine moiety; L1 and L2 represents a divalent group of an alkylene, optionally with from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms; X represents oxygen or an imino group; R is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group optionally with from 1 to about 5 carbon atoms; and n is a number.
14. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 13 wherein L1 and L2 are independently selected from the group consisting of methylene, ethylene, propylene, butylene and pentylene, and n is from 1 to about 5.
15. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 13 wherein A is selected from the group consisting of

wherein R1 to R23 are independently a hydrogen, an alkyl with from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, a cyclic alkyl with from 1 to about 10 carbon atoms, an alkoxyl group with from 1 to about 5 carbon atoms, or halide.
16. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 13 wherein X is an oxygen atom, or wherein X is an imino group, and wherein R is a hydrogen atom.
17. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 13 wherein said composition is comprised of the condensation reaction product of
a) a tertiary amine of Formula (I),
b) a crosslinkable silane component, and
c) an optional polymer binder.
18. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 17 wherein said silane is selected from the group consisting of tetraethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane, 3-aminopropyltriisopropoxysilane, 1,2-bis(trimethoxysilyl) ethane, and 1,2-bis(triethoxysilyl)ethane.
19. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 17 wherein said polymer binder is comprised of

A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 14 wherein said photogenerating layer is comprised of photogenerating pigments of metal phthalocyanines, metal free phthalocyanines, perylenes, titanyl phthalocyanines, selenium, or hydroxygallium phthalocyanines optionally dispersed in a resin binder.
21. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 14 and containing a supporting substrate in contact with the photogenerating layer, or containing a supporting substrate in contact with the charge transport layer.
22. A process for the synthesis of hole transport molecules of Formula I

23. A process in accordance with claim 22 wherein said reaction is conducted at from about 100 C. to about 180 C., optionally in an inert organic solvent.
24. A process in accordance with claim 23 wherein said organic solvent is selected from the group consisting of chlorobenzene, toluene, dichlorobenzene, xylene and tetralene.
25. A process in accordance with claim 22 wherein said reaction is conducted in the presence of a catalyst selected from the group consisting of a trialkyl amine, a pyridine, a dialkylaminopyridine, and an organic tin compound.
26. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 14 wherein the supporting substrate is a metal, a conductive polymer, or an insulating polymer, each with a thickness of from about 30 microns to about 300 microns optionally overcoated with an electrically conductive layer with an optional thickness of from about 0.01 micron to about 1 micron, and wherein there is further optionally included an overcoating polymer top layer on said member.
27. A photoconductive imaging member in accordance with claim 14 wherein the photogenerating layer is of a thickness of from about 0.2 to about 10 microns, wherein the charge transport layer is of a thickness of from about 10 to about 100 microns, and wherein there is included a supporting substrate overcoated with a polymeric adhesive layer of a thickness of from about 0.01 to about 1 micron.
28. A composition in accordance with claim 1 wherein said composition functions as a charge transport in a photoconductive imaging member.
29. A composition in accordance with claim 28 wherein said charge transport is a hold transport.
30. A composition in accordance with claim 1 wherein alkylene or substituted alkylene contains from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms; alkoxy contains from 1 to about 12 carbon atoms; and n is 1, 2, or 3.

1. A headrest, in particular for a motor vehicle seat, comprising:
a cushion (2);
an integrated support (12) enclosed by said cushion (2);
two parallel anchor rods (6) for fitting said integrated support (12) onto a receiving seat (7);
wherein each of said anchor rods (6) has a threaded shaft (18) extending at a right angle from an upper end thereof and rigidly secured to said upper end;
a rotatable, complementary threaded housing sleeve (19) threadably attached to each of said rigidly secured threaded shafts (18), whererby rotation of the housing sleeve (19) causes the threaded shafts (18) engaged thereby to move laterally to provide an adjustment for adjusting the lateral distance between said anchor rods (6);
a lock (22) for locking the anchor rods (6) in a set position on the sleeve (19) to thereby maintain a set lateral distance between both anchor rods (6); and
securing means (24, 25, 26) for securing said housing sleeve (19) onto the integrated support (12).
2. The headrest as recited in claim 1,
wherein said threading of said housing sleeve (19) is an inner threading adapted to conform with an outer threading on each of said threaded shafts (18), and,
said lock (22) comprises locknuts on each of said threaded shafts (18) adapted to abut said housing sleeve (19) so as to secure the position of said anchor rods (6).
3. The headrest as recited in claim 1,
wherein the housing sleeve (19) has a substantially cylindrical shape, the sleeve (19) being housed in the base of an attached flat, U-shaped stirrup piece (24), the stirrup piece (24) abutting a locking lug (30) situated on the integrated support (12) and affixed to the locking lug (30) via a screw-nut tightening system (25, 26).
4. The headrest as recited in claim 3,
wherein the integrated support (12) has a seat (28) adapted to receive the sleeve (19) and the threaded shafts (18) that extend at right angles from the upper ends of the anchor rods (6) wherein said seat (28) ends at the front face of the support (12) and is positioned just below the locking lug (30) of the integrated support (12), and wherein the seat (28) has lower horizontally extending elongated openings (29) for passage of the anchor rods (6), the openings (29) being adapted to receive anchor rods (6) at different spaced distances.
5. The headrest as recited in claim 4,
wherein the seat (28) of the support (12) has an opening (35) situated below the locking lug (30) in order to facilitate the positioning of the U-shaped stirrup piece (24).
6. The headrest as recited in claim 1,
wherein the headrest has attached adapter sleeves (37), capable of compensating for the difference between the outer diameter of the anchor rods (6) and the inner diameter of a housing sleeve (20) installed in the upper portion of the receiving seat (7), the adapter sleeves (37) having an upper flange (38) allowing the adapter sleeves (37) to be held on the housing sleeves (20).
7. The headrest as recited in claim 1,
wherein the headrest has a monitor (8) embedded in a rear face of the headrest, the monitor (8) being moveably clamped into a casing (14) which is embedded in the rear face and fixed on the integrated support (12).
8. The headrest as recited in claim 7,
wherein the casing (14) is embedded in a housing (4\u2032) situated at the rear face of cushion (2), the housing (4\u2032) being delimited by a rigid frame (10) whose width essentially corresponds to the thickness of the casing (14) and along the inner rim of which the integrated support comes to rest, the base of the casing (14) being fixed to the integrated support (12) via locking screws (15) and the front face of the casing (14) being equipped with an oversize peripheral flange (16) adapted to rest against the outer rim of the rigid frame (10).
9. The headrest as recited in claim 8,
wherein the headrest cushion (2) is molded onto the rigid frame (10).
10. The headrest as recited in claim 7,
wherein the interior of said headrest anchor rods (6) are hollow, and power supply cables (40) of the monitor (8) pass through the interior of at least one of said anchor rods.
11. A headrest, in particular for a motor vehicle seat, comprising:
a cushion (2);
an integrated support (12) enclosed by said cushion (2);
two parallel anchor rods (6) attached to said integrated support for fitting said integrated support (12) onto a receiving seat (7);
wherein each of said anchor rods (6) has a threaded shaft (18) extending at a right angle from an upper end thereof and rigidly secured to said upper end; and
a rotatable, complementary threaded housing sleeve (19) threadably attached to each of said rigidly secured threaded shafts (18), whereby rotation of the housing sleeve (19) causes the threaded shafts (18) engaged thereby to move laterally to provide an adjustment for adjusting the lateral distance between said anchor rods (6).

1. An optical switching apparatus comprising:
an optical switch for switching and setting a route of an optical signal without being converted;
a performance monitor for detecting, for each of a plurality of predetermined factors, performance of said optical signal that has passed through said optical switch, and for issuing a plurality of alarms that correspond respectively to any of said plurality of factors;
a memory for storing in advance a respective masking time for each of said plurality of alarms, the respective masking times being not the same for all of said plurality of alarms, but a respective masking time of at least one alarm being different from the others;
an alarm masking unit for receiving said plurality of alarms from said performance monitor, and passing said plurality of alarms or masking each of said plurality of alarms for the respective period of time set by a timer; and
a control unit for instructing a start of masking said plurality of alarms done by said alarm masking unit.
2. The optical switching apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said plurality of factors include at least one of optical power, operation clock synchronization, frame clock synchronization, and an error rate of said optical signal.
3. The optical switching apparatus according to claim 1, wherein:
said optical switch includes output routes amounting to N in number,
said performance monitor is disposed for monitoring each of the number N of output routes,
said plurality of alarms are issued for an optical signal of each of said number N of output routes regarding each of said plurality of factors, and
said alarm masking unit masks said plurality of alarms for each of said plurality of factors for each of said number N of output routes.
4. The optical switching apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said alarm masking unit masks said plurality of alarms from a point in time at which said optical switch begins a switching operation, for a period predetermined for each of the plurality of factors.
5. An optical switch control apparatus for instructing an optical switch for switching and setting a route of an optical signal without being converted to execute a route switching operation, comprising:
an alarm receiver for receiving a plurality of alarms that an external performance monitor outputs respectively for each of a plurality of factors, said monitor being for detecting, for said plurality of factors, performance of said optical signal for which said route is set by said optical switch;
a memory for storing in advance a respective masking time for each of said plurality of alarms, the respective masking times being not the same for all of said plurality of alarms but a respective masking time of at least one alarm being different form others; and
an alarm masking unit for masking each of said plurality of factors for the respective time stored in the memory.
6. The optical switch control apparatus according to claim 5, wherein said alarm masking unit masks said plurality of alarms from a point in time at which said optical switch begins a switching operation, for a period predetermined for each of the plurality of factors.
7. An optical switching apparatus comprising:
an optical switch for switching and setting a route of an optical signal without being converted
a memory for storing in advance a respective masking time for each of a plurality of alarms, the respective masking times being not the same for all of said plurality of alarms but a respective masking time of at least one alarm being different from others; and
an alarm masking unit for masking each of said plurality of alarms from an external performance monitor for the respective time stored in the memory, the external performance monitor detecting, for each of a plurality of predetermined factors, performance of said optical signal that has passed through said optical switch, and issuing a plurality of alarms that correspond respectively to any of said plurality of factors.
8. The optical switching apparatus according to claim 7, wherein said alarm masking unit masks said plurality of alarms from a point in time at which said optical switch begins a switching operation, for a period predetermined for each of the plurality of factors.
9. An optical communication network system comprising, an optical switching apparatus, wherein said optical switching apparatus includes:
an optical switch for switching and setting a route of an optical signal without being converted,
a performance monitor for detecting, for each of a plurality of predetermined factors, performance of the optical signal that has passed through the optical switch, and issuing a plurality of alarms that correspond respectively to any of the plurality of factors, and
a memory for storing in advance a masking time for each of said plurality of alarms, the masking time being not the same for all of said plurality of alarms but a masking time of at least one alarm being different from others;
an alarm masking unit for receiving said plurality of alarms from said performance monitor, and passing said plurality of alarms or masking each of said plurality of alarms for a period of time set by a timer; and
a control unit for instructing a start of masking said plurality of alarms done by said alarm masking unit.
10. The optical communication network system according to claim 9, wherein said alarm masking unit masks said plurality of alarms from a point in time at which said optical switch begins a switching operation, for a period predetermined for each of the plurality of factors.
11. An optical switching apparatus comprising:
a control unit;
an optical switch for setting a route of an optical signal; and
a performance monitor for detecting, for each of a plurality of predetermined factors, performance of the optical signal that has passed through the optical switch, and issuing a plurality of alarms that correspond respectively to any of the plurality of factors;
wherein said control unit includes:
means for controlling route setting of said optical switch,
means for storing in advance a respective masking time for each of said plurality of alarms, the respective masking times being not the same for all of said plurality of alarms but a respective masking time of at least one alarm being different from others,
means for receiving said plurality of alarms from said performance monitor, and passing said plurality of alarms or masking each of said plurality of alarms for a period of time set by a timer, and
means for distinguishing, according to whether or not, after a period has passed in which each of said plurality of alarms is masked by said means for masking and each of said alarms is detected, the alarms are caused by (1) one caused by a trouble, and (2) the route setting operation of said optical switch, and for controlling issuance of each of said alarms to another connected apparatus.
12. The optical switching apparatus according to claim 11, wherein said means for masking masks said plurality of alarms from a point in time at which said optical switch begins a switching operation, for a period predetermined for each of the plurality of factors.
