What is claimed, is:

1. A scanner comprising a body having a substantially horizontal operative position and a chassis, wherein the body is movably connected to the chassis for moving from the substantially horizontal operative position to a substantially vertical rest position.
2. The scanner according to claim 1 wherein the body comprises a base portion and a document lid and wherein the base portion is pivotally connected to the chassis for pivoting around a first axis.
3. A scanner comprising a body having a substantially horizontal operative position and a chassis, wherein the body is movably connected to the chassis for moving from the substantially horizontal operative position to a substantially vertical rest position, the body comprising a base portion and a document lid, wherein the document lid is pivotally connected to the base portion for pivoting around a second axis.
4. A scanner comprising a body having a substantially horizontal operative position and a chassis, wherein the body is movably connected to the chassis for moving from the substantially horizontal operative position to a substantially vertical rest position, the body comprising a base portion and a document lid, wherein the document lid is pivotally connected to the chassis for pivoting around a third axis.
5. The scanner according to claim 2 wherein the document lid is pivotally connected to the base portion for pivoting around a second axis.
6. The scanner according to claim 2 wherein the document lid is pivotally connected to the chassis for pivoting around a third axis.
7. The scanner according to claim 6 wherein the third axis coincides with the first axis.
8. The scanner according to claim 1 wherein the chassis comprises electronic hardware for operating the scanner.
9. The scanner according to claim 1 wherein the scanner has a user interface and wherein the chassis comprises at least a portion of the user interface.
10. The scanner according to claim 9 wherein the user interface comprises at least one pushbutton.

The claims below are in addition to those above.
All refrences to claim(s) which appear below refer to the numbering after this setence.

1. A structured light 3D triangulation system, comprising a spatially coded structured light generator, said spatially coded structured light generator comprising an array of monolithically integrated surface emitting laser diodes, wherein the spatial encoding is implemented on wafer level by an arrangement of the individual laser diodes in an array, the structured light field being formed in a scene by the projection of the emission of the laser array.
2. The structured light 3D triangulation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the spatial encoding is achieved by the positions of the individual laser diodes, the positions forming a non-regular unique pattern.
3. The structured light 3D triangulation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the information content of the spatially coded pattern is provided or increased by giving different shapes to the output of the laser diodes.
4. as claimed in claim 1, wherein the information content of the spatially coded pattern is provided or increased by giving different spot sizes to the output of the laser diodes.
5. The structured light 3D triangulation system as claimed in claim 4, wherein the realization of different spot sizes of the laser diode outputs is achieved by giving different shapes or sizes to the output aperture of the laser diodes.
6. The structured light 3D triangulation system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the laser diode array is implemented in Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology.
7. The structured light 3D triangulation system according to claim 1, further comprising at least one of a refractive, diffractive or reflective optical element configured for projecting said structured light field onto said a scene and a camera arranged for capturing an image of said scene illuminated by said structured light field.
8. The structured light 3D triangulation system as claimed in claim 3, wherein a shaping of the laser diode outputs is achieved by giving different shapes or sizes to the output aperture of the laser diodes.
