1. A vehicle component made of plastic,
in particular a vehicle body shell component, such as a vehicle roof module, vehicle door, roof post, vehicle pillar, wing, engine compartment cover, luggage compartment cover, rear-end module, roof shells of cabriolet hoods, front or rear spoilers,
with at least one supporting layer,
with at least one outer skin,
and with at least one splinter protection layer,

characterized in that
the splinter protection layer is formed as a splinter protection fabric and
is embedded between two adjacent layers or in one of the supporting layers, in particular in the region thereof near the edge.
2. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that the at least one supporting layer consists
of polyurethane (PU) or some other thermoset andor
of a honeycomb layer or a foam layer of plastic or metal or a layer of some other core material andor
of a glass fiber mat andor
of a decoupling layer.
3. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that the at least one supporting layer or at least one of a number of supporting layers is produced
by the composite spray molding process (CSM process) andor
by the long fiber injection process (LFI process) andor
by the glass fiber mat polyurethane process (GM-PU process) andor
by the resin transfer molding process (RTM process) andor
by the sheet molding compound process (SMC process) andor
by the reaction injection molding process (RIM process) andor
by the reinforced reaction injection molding process (RRIM process) andor
by the injection molding process.
4. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that the at least one splinter protection fabric consists
of polyethylene (PE) andor
of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) andor
of polyamide (PA) andor
of polypropylene (PP) andor
of aramid andor
of elastic polyurethane (PU) andor
of natural or synthetic rubber andor
of a steel mesh.
5. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that the supporting layers thereof consist, from the inside outward,
of a first layer of polyurethane (PU),
of a core layer created by honeycomb technology,
of a second layer of polyurethane (PU),
of a decoupling layer and
of an outer skin,
at least one splinter protection fabric being arranged
between the first layer of polyurethane (PU) and the core layer andor
between the second layer of polyurethane (PU) and the core layer andor
between the second layer of polyurethane (PU) and the decoupling layer.
6. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that a glass fiber mat is embedded as reinforcement in at least one of the supporting layers of polyurethane or some other thermoset.
7. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that the outer skin is colored in the desired vehicle color.
8. The vehicle component of claim 1, characterized in that the vehicle component has an overall thickness of 2 mm to 60 mm.

1. A screening for separating an inner protected area from a more accessible area comprising
first and second spaced apart vertical supports,
each of said vertical supports having an upper and a lower attachment member,
a panel having an inner surface, an outer surface and parallel sides,
said panel having an upper attachment member on each of said sides for attachment to said upper attachment members of said vertical supports to form mated pairs of upper attachment members,
said panel having a lower attachment member on each of said sides for attachment to said lower attachment members of said vertical supports to form mated pairs of lower attachment members,
one of said mated pairs of upper and lower attachment members including a pivot pin wherein said panel is pivotable about said one of said mated pairs of attachment members while another of said mated pairs of upper and lower attachment members remain unattached to each other,
said another of said mated pairs of attachment members including a latch wherein said another of said mated pairs of attachment members are latchable together to retain said panel to said vertical supports,
said latch including a cam for unlatching said latch wherein said cam is operable from said outer surface of said panel, and
said latch further including a lock for selectively locking and unlocking said latch between a locked condition wherein said cam is rendered inoperable, and an unlocked condition wherein said cam is operable.
2. The screening of claim 1 wherein said lock is only operable from said inner surface of said panel.
3. A screening of claim 1 wherein said lock is operable by a tool and said tool is useable only from said inner surface of said panel.
4. The screening of claim 1 wherein said cam is operable by a first tool and said lock is operable by a second tool that is different from said first tool.
5. The screening of claim 1 wherein said cam is operable from said outer surface and said lock is operable only from said inner surface of said panel.
6. The screening of claim 5 wherein said cam is operable by a first tool and said lock is operable by a second tool that is different from said first tool.
7. The screening of claim 1 and further comprising
said another of said mated pairs of attachment members including an indentation for receiving a mating attachment member,
said indentation having diverging surfaces to form a mouth thereof,
said mating attachment member having a body with parallel sides and adjacent said parallel sides, ramped surfaces wherein said ramped surfaces mate with said ramped surfaces to obstruct access of a tampering tool to said latch.
8. A screening for separating an inner protected area from a more accessible area comprising
first and second spaced apart vertical supports,
a panel having an inner surface, an outer surface, and parallel sides,
said panel between said first and second supports and attached thereto by a first and second upper connectors, one of said upper connectors between each side of said panel and one of said vertical supports,
said panel also attached between said first and second supports by first and second lower connectors, one of said lower connectors between each side of said panel and one of said vertical supports,
one of said upper and lower pairs of connectors including pivot pins wherein said panel is pivotable about said pivot pins while another of said upper and lower pairs of connectors are unconnected,
said another of said upper and lower pairs of connectors including a releasable latch for releasably retaining said panel to one of said first and second vertical supports, and
said latch including a lock for selectively locking and unlocking said latch, wherein said latch is unreleasable while in said locked condition and releasable in said unlocked condition.
9. The screening of claim 1 and further comprising
said another of said upper and lower pairs of connectors including an indentation for receiving a mating attachment member,
said indentation having diverging surfaces to form a mouth thereof,
said mating attachment member having a body with parallel sides and adjacent said parallel sides, ramped surfaces wherein said ramped surfaces mate with said ramped surfaces to obstruct access to a tampering tool to said releasable latch.
10. The screening of claim 8 wherein said lock is only operable from said inner surface of said panel.
11. The screening of claim 8 wherein said lock is operable by a tool and said tool is useable only from said inner surface of said panel.
12. The screening of claim 8 wherein said releasable latch is operable by a first tool and said lock is operable by a second tool that is different from said first tool.
13. The screening of claim 8 wherein said releasable latch is operable from said outer surface and said lock is operable only from said inner surface of said panel.
14. The screening of claim 13 wherein said releasable latch is operable by a first tool and said lock is operable by a second tool that is different from said first tool.
15. A screening for separating an inner protected area from a more accessible area comprising
first and second spaced apart vertical supports,
a panel having an inner surface, an outer surface, and parallel sides,
said panel between said first and second supports and attached thereto by a first and second upper connectors, one of said upper connectors between each side of said panel and one of said vertical supports,
said panel also attached between said first and second supports by first and second lower connectors, one of said lower connectors between each side of said panel and one of said vertical supports,
one of said upper and lower pairs of connectors including pivot pins wherein said panel is pivotable about said pivot pins while another of said upper and lower pairs of connectors are unconnected,
said another of said upper and lower pairs of connectors including a releasable latch for releasably retaining said panel to one of said first and second vertical supports,
said latch including an indentation for receiving a mating attachment member, wherein said latch is unreleasable while in said locked condition and releasable in said unlocked condition,
said indentation having diverging surfaces to form a mouth thereof, and
said mating attachment member having a body with parallel sides and adjacent said parallel sides, ramped surfaces wherein said ramped surfaces mate with said ramped surfaces to obstruct access to a tampering tool to said releasable latch.
16. The screening of claim 15 wherein
said latch includes a lock for selectively locking and unlocking said latch, wherein said latch is unreleasable while in said locked condition and releasable in said unlocked condition.
17. The screening of claim 16 wherein said lock is only operable from said inner surface of said panel.
18. The screening of claim 16 wherein said lock is operable by a tool and said tool is useable only from said inner surface of said panel.
19. The screening of claim 16 wherein said releasable latch is operable by a first tool and said lock is operable by a second tool that is different from said first tool.
20. The screening of claim 16 wherein said releasable latch is operable from said outer surface and said lock is operable only from said inner surface of said panel.
