We claim:

1. A device for reducing the noise emissions of a machine for printing flat material, wherein flat material is transportable across an impression cylinder, comprising at least one muffling element disposed across a portion of a transport path of the flat material extending along the impression cylinder, directly behind or downline from a nip, as viewed in the direction of the transport path, and at a spaced distance from the impression cylinder.
2. The device according to claim 1, wherein said muffling element serves for shielding said nip on at least one side of the transport path of the flat material.
3. The device according to claim 1, wherein said muffling element is affixed to a bearing element.
4. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element is movably mounted.
5. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element has a hollow interior wherein said muffling element is disposed.
6. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element is rigid with a footstep for accessing the machine.
7. The device according to claim 3, wherein said footstep is pivotably mounted.
8. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element comprises a baffling arrangement which is connected to said muffling element.
9. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element is constructed as a baffling arrangement connected to said muffling element.
10. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element is constructed at least partly as a muffling element.
11. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element comprises a guide element for the flat material, and including a muffling element arranged on a side of said guide element facing away from the impression cylinder.
12. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element is formed by a perforated plate at least approximately following the curvature of the surface of a jacket of the impression cylinder.
13. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element comprises a parallel arrangement of sheet guide rails at least approximately following the curvature of the surface of a jacket of the impression cylinder.
14. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element comprises a lateral part for covering an interspace between said muffling element and the impression cylinder at least on one side of the transport path of the flat material.
15. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element comprises a lateral part for shielding the impression cylinder at least at one end face thereof.
16. The device according to claim 3, wherein said bearing element comprises a lateral part for shielding a nip on at least one side of the transport path of the flat material.
17. The device according to claim 8, wherein said muffling element is disposed at said lateral part.
18. A machine for printing flat material, wherein flat material is transportable across an impression cylinder, including a device for reducing the noise emissions of the machine, comprising at least one muffling element disposed across a portion of a transport path of the flat material extending along the impression cylinder, directly behind or downline from a nip, as viewed in the direction of the transport path, and at a spaced distance from the impression cylinder.
19. The machine for printing flat material, according to claim 18, wherein the machine is an offset printing machine.

1. A notepad cover comprising:
a first cover and a second cover, the first cover being joined to the second cover at a hinge and constructed and arranged to cover a pad mounted between the first cover and the second cover when the first cover and the second cover are in a closed position;
a neck cord mounted to the first cover at a location remote from the hinge;
a sleeve having a transparent window mounted to one of the first cover and the second cover so as to project beyond bottom edges of each of the first cover and the second cover when the first cover and the second cover are in the closed position;
a clasp for removably securing the first cover and the second cover together in the closed position; and
wherein the clasp is constructed and arranged to removably secure the neck cord with a releasable fastener assembly.
2. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 1 wherein the sleeve is removably attached to one of the first cover and the second cover by a fastener assembly.
3. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 2 wherein the fastener assembly includes a first pair of snaps attached to the first cover on an outside surface adjacent to the hinge.
4. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 3 wherein the fastener assembly includes a second pair of snaps that mate to the first pair of snaps, mounted on an extension of the sleeve remote from the transparent window.
5. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 4 wherein the sleeve is constructed from a plastic sheet having three adjacent edges that are sealed to the window and an open edge adjacent to the extension through which documents can be passed.
6. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 1 wherein the pad comprises a writing pad having paper sheets and a binding.
7. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a writing instrument mounted between the first cover and the second cover in the closed position.
8. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 1 wherein the sleeve is constructed from a plastic material.
9. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 1 wherein the neck cord is attached to the first cover and the pad is mounted to the second cover so that the pad is oriented to be read by a wearer of the neck cord right-side up when the second cover is opened on the hinge with respect to the first cover.
10. The notepad cover as set forth in claim 1 wherein the neck cord includes a quick-release connection along a length of the neck cord.
