What is claimed is:

1. A method of transmitting data using a wireless network printer, comprising:
providing in the printer a wireless LAN card that has an access point;
receiving via the access point predetermined data transmitted from a wireless LAN card of a first wireless client; and
transmitting via the access point the data to a wireless LAN card of a second wireless client.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the access point function comprises detecting a target internet protocol of the data and transmitting the data to the wireless LAN card of the second wireless client corresponding to the target internet protocol.
3. A method of transmitting data using a wireless network printer, comprising:
providing in the printer a wireless LAN card in communication with a cable LAN and having an access point;
receiving via the access point predetermined data from a wireless LAN card of a wireless client; and
transmitting via the access point the data to a cable client connected to the cable LAN.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein the access point comprises an operation of detecting a target Internet protocol of the data and transmitting the data to the cable client corresponding to the target Internet protocol.
5. A method of transmitting data using a wireless network printer comprising:
providing in the printer a wireless LAN card that is connected to a cable LAN and has an access point;
receiving via the access point predetermined data from a cable client connected to the cable LAN; and
transmitting via the access point the data to a wireless LAN card of a wireless client.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein the access point comprises an operation of detecting a target Internet protocol of the data and transmitting the data to the wireless LAN card of the wireless client which corresponds to the target internet protocol.
7. A method of transmitting data using a wireless network printer comprising:
providing in the printer a wireless LAN card that is connected to a cable LAN and has an access point;
receiving via the access point first data transmitted from a first client; and
detecting in the access point a target Internet protocol of the first data and transmitting via the access point second data to a second client which corresponds to the target Internet protocol.
8. The method of claim 7, wherein frame formats of the first data and second data are the same in the event that the first client is a wireless client having a first wireless LAN card and the second client is a wireless client having a second wireless LAN card.
9. The method of claim 7, wherein frame formats of the first data and second data are different from each other in the event that the first client is the first wireless client having a wireless LAN card and the second client is a cable client connected to the cable LAN.
10. The method of claim 7, wherein frame formats of the first data and second data are different from each other in the event that the first client is a cable client connected to the cable LAN and the second client is a wireless client having a wireless LAN card.
11. A method of transmitting data, comprising:
connecting a wireless client to a wireless network printer including a wireless LAN card that is connected to a cable LAN and having an access point; and
transmitting or receiving via the access point predetermined data by accessing an Internet connected to the cable LAN via the wireless LAN card.
12. A wireless network printer, comprising:
a wireless LAN card receiving predetermined data from a wireless LAN card of a first wireless client, and transmitting via an access point function the data to a cable client connected to a cable LAN or a wireless LAN card of a second wireless client; and
a printer processor receiving the data output from the wireless LAN card having the access point function.
13. The wireless network printer of claim 12, wherein the wireless LAN card having the access point transmits data received from the cable client, which is connected to the wireless LAN card having the access point, to the wireless LAN card of the first wireless client or the wireless LAN card of the second wireless client.
14. The wireless network printer of claim 12, wherein the wireless LAN card having the access point comprises:
an access processor receiving the data from the wireless LAN card of the first wireless client, and transmitting the data to the cable client connected to the cable LAN or the wireless LAN card of the second wireless client; and
an interface allowing communication between the access processor and the printer processor.
15. The wireless network printer of claim 14, wherein the interface comprises:
a memory receiving and storing the data from the wireless LAN card of the first wireless client;
a bus arbiter arbitrating a bus connected between the printer processor and the access processor; and
an interface logic interfacing the printer processor and the access processor.
16. A wireless LAN card, comprising:
an access processor receiving data output from a wireless LAN card of a first wireless client and transmitting the data to a cable LAN connected to the wireless LAN card or a wireless LAN card of a second wireless client; and
an interface transmitting the data output from the access processor to an output terminal of the wireless LAN card.
17. The wireless LAN card of claim 16, wherein the access processor receives the data from the cable LAN and transmits the data to the wireless LAN card of the first client or the wireless LAN card of the second client.
18. The wireless LAN card of claim 16, wherein the interface comprises:
a memory storing the data received from the wireless LAN card of the first wireless client;
a bus arbiter arbitrating a bus connected between the output terminal of the wireless LAN card and the access processor; and
an interface logic interfacing the output terminal of the wireless LAN card and the access processor.
19. A wireless LAN card, comprising:
a programmed computer processor receiving data from a wireless LAN card of a first wireless client and transmitting the data to a cable LAN connected to the wireless LAN card, a wireless LAN card of a second wireless client, or an output terminal of the wireless LAN card.
20. A wireless network printer in communication with a cable LAN, comprising:
a wireless network access controller receiving predetermined data received from wireless clients andor cable clients connected to the cable LAN and transmitting the predetermined data to the wireless clients, the cable client andor a printer processor of the wireless network printer.
21. The wireless network printer of claim 20, wherein the access controller transmitsreceives the predetermined data tofrom the wireless clients using a wireless data link layer standard protocol with a transport layer protocol and transmitsreceives the predetermined data tofrom the cable clients using a wire data link layer standard protocol with the transport layer protocol and the controller detects a target transport layer protocol of the received predetermined data to transmit the predetermined data to one of the clients corresponding to the target transport layer protocol.
22. The wireless network printer of claim 21, wherein the wireless data link layer standard is IEEE 802.11b and the wire standard is IEEE 802.3 and the access controller, in case of receiving data targeted for one of the cable clients from one of the wireless clients, converts the IEEE 802.11b data link layer to the IEEE 802.3 data link layer to transmit the received data to the one cable client.
23. The wireless network printer of claim 20, wherein the access controller transmitsreceives the predetermined data tofrom the wireless and cable clients using a layered protocol comprising respective layers of an upper layer protocol, an internet protocol layer, an IEEE 802.2 logical link control layer and a media access control layer comprising IEEE 802.3 and IEEE 802.11b protocols.
24. An office network system, comprising:
a cable LAN providing data communication among cable clients and Internet; and
wireless network printers each comprising a network access controller providing data communication among wireless clients, the cable clients, the printer and the Internet.
25. A network printer, comprising:
a wireless LAN card that can be connected to a cable LAN and has an access point function allowing data communication using the network printer, thereby providing a mobile access point.
26. The method of claim 7, wherein the second client is a printer processor if the target IP address is the same as the IP address of the wireless LAN and the second data is printing data produced from the first data.
27. The method of claim 7, wherein the second client is a printer processor if the target IP address is the same as the IP address of the wireless LAN and the second data is printing data produced by excluding a header from the first data and converting the first data into compatible data of the printer processor.
28. The method of claim 9, wherein the frame format of the first data is IEEE 802.11b, which is converted to the frame format IEEE 802.3 of the second data.
29. The method of claim 10, wherein the frame format of the first data is IEEE 802.3, which is converted to the frame format IEEE 802.11b of the second data.

1. A method of generating reference picture lists L0 and L1 for decoding a predicted picture within video data, the method comprising:
generating a first ordered list of reference pictures from a decoded picture buffer (DPB), RefPicSetCurrTempList0, in which the list is ordered with the reference pictures in the DPB that are temporally before the current picture, if any, listed in order by temporal distance from the current picture, followed by the reference pictures in the DPB that are temporally later than the current picture, if any, listed in order by temporal distance from the current picture, followed by long term reference pictures in the DPB, if any, listed in the order in which they are stored in the DPB;
generating a second ordered list of reference pictures from the DPB, RefPicSetCurrTempList1, in which the list is ordered with the reference pictures in the DPB that are temporally later than the current picture, if any, listed first in order by temporal distance from the current picture, followed by the reference pictures in the DPB that are temporally before the current picture, if any, listed in order by temporal distance from the current picture, followed by long term reference pictures in the DPB, if any, listed in the order in which they are stored in the DPB; and
generating at least one of lists L0 and L1 by selecting reference pictures from RefPicSetCurrTempList0 and RefPicSetCurrTempList1, respectively.
2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:
determining if either of lists L0 and L1 are to be modified lists, wherein;
if list L0 is to be a modified list, then generating list L0 comprises, for each reference picture in reference picture list L0, receiving a first index into the first ordered list and listing the reference picture identified at that index in the first ordered list at the corresponding entry in L0; and
if list L1 is to be a modified list, then generating list L1 comprises, for each reference picture entry in reference picture list L1, receiving a second index into the second ordered list and listing the reference picture identified at that index in the second ordered list at the corresponding entry in L1.
3. The method of claim 2 wherein;
if list L0 is not to be a modified list, then generating list L0 comprises taking entries from RefPicSetCurrTempList0 in order up to a first specified number of entries; and.
if list L1 is not to be a modified list, then generating list L1 comprises taking entries from RefPicSetCurrTempList1 in order up to a second specified number of entries.
4. The method of claim 2 wherein the determining comprises reading a syntax element. syntax element. ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l0 with respect to list L0 and syntax element ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1 with respect to list L1.
5. The method of claim 2 wherein the first index and the second index are in the range of zero to the number of pictures in the DPB.
6. The method of claim 2 wherein a syntax element ref_pic_set_idx is used to specify the first index and the second index.
7. The method of claim 6 further comprising:
reading a syntax element, ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1, wherein ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1 equal to a first value specifies that the syntax element ref_pic_set_idx is present for specifying L1 and wherein ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1 equal to a second value specifies that this syntax element is not present for specifying L1.
8. The method of claim 6 further comprising:
reading a syntax element, ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l0, wherein ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l0 equal to a first value specifies that the syntax element ref_pic_set_idx is present for specifying L0 and wherein ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l0 equal to a second value specifies that this syntax element is not present for specifying L0.
9. The method of claim 8 further comprising:
reading a syntax element, ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1, wherein ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1 equal to a first value specifies that the syntax element ref_pic_set_idx is present for specifying L1 and wherein ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1 equal to a second value specifies that this syntax element is not present for specifying L1.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising constructing list L1 (RefPicList1), if the flag (ref_pic_list_modification_flag_l1) is 1 by invoking a reference picture list modification process with RefPicSetCurrTempList1 and num_ref_idx_l1_active_minus1 as inputs.
17. The method of claim 16 wherein the reference picture list modification process is used to generate RefPicListX, wherein X designates the corresponding list 0 or 1, wherein:
set refIdxLX as an index into the reference picture list RefPicListLX; and
iteratively repeat until refIdxLX is greater than num_ref_idx\u20141X_active_minus1+1:

18. A method of signaling modifications to a plurality of reference picture lists comprising signaling the modifications to the plurality of reference picture lists using a unified signaling syntax.
19. The method of claim 18 wherein the plurality of reference picture lists includes L0, L1, and a combined list, LC.
20. The method of claim 19 wherein the unified signaling syntax includes coding an index of a reference picture using an entropy coding method.
21. The method of claim 20 wherein the unified signaling syntax includes coding the index of a reference picture using te(v).
22. A method comprising:
determining a number of entries in a reference picture list;
generating a message including a value identifying an entry in the reference picture list, wherein the value is represented by a single bit if the number of entries in the reference picture list is two, the value is represented by multiple bits if the number of entries in the reference picture list is three or more, and the message omits the value if the number of entries in the reference picture list is one.
23. The method of claim 22 wherein the value is ue(v) when the number of entries is three or more values.
24. The method of claim 22 wherein the index is specified by the syntax element ref_idx_list_curr.
25. A method of creating a combined list, LC, of reference pictures to be used for decoding a B slice from a first list of reference pictures, L0, and a second list of reference pictures, L1, the method comprising:
determining if L0 contains more than one entry;
determining if L1 contains more than one entry;
if either L0 or L1 contains more than one entry, using a syntax element ref_idx_list_curr to indicate entries in at least one of L0 and L1 to be added into LC;
if L0 contains only one entry, setting ref_idx_list_curr to 0;
if L1 contains only one entry, setting ref_idx_list_curr to 0; and
creating LC using the value of ref_idx_list_curr.
26. The method of claim 25 wherein the determining if L0 contains more than one entry comprises determining if a syntax element num_ref_idx_l0_active_minus1 is zero or more and the determining if L1 contains more than one entry comprises determining if a syntax element num_ref_idx_l1_active_minus 1 is zero or more.
