1. An image display device that has an authenticationdecryption unit for authenticating and decrypting encrypted video signals and a display for displaying video signals thereon, said image display device comprising:
open-condition detecting means for detecting whether a cabinet of said image display device is opened;
storing means for storing one of a first flag indicating that an authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit is enabled and a second flag indicating that the authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit is disabled;
flag writing means for writing said second flag into said storing means when said open-condition detecting means detects that said cabinet is opened;
enablingdisabling control means for controlling enablingdisabling of the authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit according to the flag stored in said storing means;
first display control means for putting said display in a first state by displaying the video signals decrypted from the encrypted video signals when the flag stored in said storing means is the first flag; and
second display control means for putting said display in a second state, which is different from the first state, when the flag stored in said storing means is the second flag.
2. The image display device according to claim 1, further comprising hidden command entering means for entering a hidden command for returning the authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit to an enabled state by causing said flag writing means to write said first flag into said storing means in which said second flag is stored.
3. The image display device according to claim 1, further comprising an independent power that supplies power to said open-condition detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to allow said open-condition detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to continue operation even when power normally supplied to said image display device is turned off.
4. The image display device according to claim 2, further comprising an independent power that supplies power to said open-condition detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to allow said open-condition detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to continue operation even when power normally supplied to said image display device is turned off.
5. An image display device that has an authenticationdecryption unit for authenticating and decrypting encrypted video signals and a display for displaying video signals thereon, said image display device comprising:
detecting means for detecting that there is a possibility that video signals, decrypted from the encrypted video signals by said authenticationdecryption unit, will be taken out of said image display device;
storing means for storing one of a first flag indicating that an authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit is enabled and a second flag indicating that the authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit is disabled;
flag writing means for writing said second flag into said storing means when said detecting means detects that there is a possibility that the video signals decrypted from the encrypted video signals will be taken out of said image display device;
enablingdisabling control means for controlling enablingdisabling of the authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit according to the flag stored in said storing means;
first display control means for putting said display in a first state by displaying the video signals decrypted from the encrypted video signals when the flag stored in said storing means is the first flag; and
second display control means for putting said display in a second state, which is different from the first state, when the flag stored in said storing means is the second flag.
6. The image display device according to claim 5, further comprising hidden command entering means for entering a hidden command for returning the authentication operation of said authenticationdecryption unit to an enabled state by causing said flag writing means to write said first flag into said storing means in which said second flag is stored.
7. The image display device according to claim 5, further comprising an independent power that supplies power to said detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to allow said detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to continue operation even when power normally supplied to said image display device is turned off.
8. The image display device according to claim 6, further comprising an independent power that supplies power to said detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to allow said detecting means, said storing means, and said flag writing means to continue operation even when power normally supplied to said image display device is turned off.

R1a is hydrogen, halo or \u2014O(C1-6alkyl);
R1b is hydrogen or, when R1a is halo, R1b may also be halo;

R3a is hydrogen, halo, CN, C1-4alkyl, \u2014O(C1-4alkyl), C1-4haloalkyl, \u2014O(C1-4haloalkyl), SO2(C1-4alkyl), SO2NR4aR4b or NO2;
where each R4a and R4b is independently H or C1-4alkyl;

R3b is hydrogen or, when R3a is halo, R3b may also be halo;
X is CH or N;

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof;
provided that when R1a is fluoro, chloro or methoxy and R1b and R2 are hydrogen, R3a is not 3\u2032-methoxy or 3\u2032-trifluoromethyl.
2. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1a is hydrogen, fluoro, chloro or \u2014O(C1-4alkyl).
3. The compound of claim 2 wherein:
R1a and R1b are both hydrogen; or
R1a is chloro, fluoro or methoxy and R1b is hydrogen; or
R1a and R1b are both chloro; or
R1a and R1b are both fluoro.
4. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1b is hydrogen and R1a is at the 5- or 6-position.
5. The compound of claim 4 wherein R1a is selected from the group consisting of chloro, fluoro or methoxy, especially 5-chloro, 5-fluoro, 6-chloro, 6-fluoro and 6-methoxy.
6. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1a and R1b are both halo and are at the 4- and 5-positions or at the 5- and 6-positions.
7. The compound of claim 6 wherein R1a and R1b are selected from the group consisting of 4,5-dichloro, 5,6-dichloro, 4,5-difluoro and 5,6-difluoro.
8. The compound of claim 1 R2 is hydrogen or methyl.
9. The compound of claim 1 wherein R3a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chloro, fluoro, CN, C1-2alkyl, \u2014O(C1-2alkyl), C1-2haloalkyl, \u2014O(C1-2haloalkyl), SO2\u2014(C1-4alkyl), SO2NH2, SO2NH(C1-4alkyl) and SO2N(C1-2alkyl)2; and R3b is hydrogen.
10. The compound of claim 9 wherein R3a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, chloro, fluoro, methyl, trifluoromethyl methoxy, trifluoromethoxy, SO2NH2, SO2NHCH3, SO2NH(ethyl), SO2NH(n-propyl), SO2NH(isopropyl) and SO2N(CH3)2; and R3b is hydrogen.
11. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1a is 6-chloro or 6-fluoro; R1b is H and either:
R3b is H and R3a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, 3\u2032-halo, 4\u2032-halo, 3\u2032-C1-4alkyl, 4-trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, SO2(C1-4alkyl) and SO2NR4aR4b; where each R4a and R4b is independently H, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or n-propyl; or
R3a is 3\u2032-fluoro and R3b is 4-fluoro.
12. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1a is 5-chloro or 5-fluoro; R1b is H and either:
R3b is H and R3a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, 3\u2032-halo, 4\u2032-halo C1-4alkyl, 4-trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, SO2(C1-4alkyl) and SO2NR4aR4b; where each R4a and R4b is independently H, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or n-propyl; or
R3a is 3\u2032-fluoro and R3b is 4-fluoro.
13. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1a is 6-methoxy; R1b is H and either:
R3b is H and R3a is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, 2\u2032-halo, 3\u2032-halo, 4\u2032-halo, C1-4alkyl, 2-trifluoromethyl, 4-trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy, cyano, SO2(C1-4alkyl) and SO2NR4aR4b; where each R4a and R4b is independently H, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or n-propyl; or
R3a is 3\u2032-fluoro and R3b is 4-fluoro.
14. The compound of claim 1 wherein R1a and R1b are 4,5-difluoro, R3b is hydrogen and R3a is halo, 3\u2032-trifluoromethyl, trifluoromethoxy cyano or SO2(C1-4 alkyl), SO2NR4aR4b; where each R4a and R4b is independently H, methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or n-propyl.

18. A process for the preparation of a compound of general formula (I) as defined in claim 1 comprising:
a. for compounds of general formula (I) in which X is CH: reacting a compound of general formula (II):
wherein R1a, R1b and R2 are as defined in claim 1 with an aldehyde of general formula (III):
wherein R3a and R3b are as defined in claim 1; or
b. for compounds of general formula (I) in which X is N: reacting a compound of general formula (IV):
wherein R1a, R1b and R2 are as defined in claim 1; with an aniline derivative of general formula (V):
wherein R3a and R3b are as defined in claim 1.
19. A method for the treatment or prevention of a disease or condition related to increased protein kinase activity, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.

A method for the treatment or prevention of cancers, atherosclerosis, arthritis, restenonsis or a metabolic disease such as diabetes, fibrotic and mesangial disorders, abnormal angiogenesis and vasculogenesis, psoriasis, diabetes mellitus, and inflammation; neurodegenerative disorders and slow wound healing rates, the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.
21. A method for the treatment of a cancer selected from the group consisting of hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, colon cancer and lung cancer the method comprising administering to a patient in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound according to claim 1.
22. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound according to claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
23. A pharmaceutical composition according to claim 22 which is adapted for oral, transdermal, buccal, nasal, sublingual or anal, intravenous or intramuscular administration.
