1. A splice system for linear connection of fishing lines, the system comprising:
a female connector having an outer surface, first and second opposite ends, and a longitudinal axis, the outer surface having an aperture disposed thereon, the first end connected to a first fishing line section and the second end having a co-axial opening therein, the connector having a co-axial interior feature with a radial extent; and
a male connector having first and second opposite ends and a longitudinal axis, the second end connected to a second fishing line section and the first end configured for coaxial insertion into the opening of the female connector, the second end having a radial extent greater than the radial extent of the interior feature of the female connector;
wherein at least one of the connectors is resilient so that the second end of the male connector compresses or the interior feature of the female connector expands to allow passage of the second end of the male connector axially past the interior feature.
2. The splice system of claim 1 wherein the female connector is removably connected to the first fishing line section.
3. The splice system of claim 2 further comprising:
an axial bore in the first end of the female connector having a diameter greater than a diameter of an end of the first fishing line section and less than a diameter of a knot formed at the end of the first fishing line.
4. The splice system of claim 1 wherein the male connector has a head at the first end and a plurality of petals at the second end, the plurality of petals having a radial extent greater than a radial extent of the head.
5. The splice system of claim 1 further comprising a ramp disposed on an interior surface of the female connector.
6. The splice system of claim 1 wherein the interior feature is a raised interior annulus.
7. The splice system of claim 6 further comprising a radially extending flat surface disposed on the raised interior annulus, the flat surface facing the first end of the female connector.
8. The splice system of claim 1 wherein the male connector is permanently connected to the second fishing line.
9. The splice system of claim 1 further comprising a float disposed on a fishing line section.
10. The splice system of claim 9 in which the float is radially symmetric.
11. The splice system of claim 10 in which the float is tapered.
12. The splice system of claim 9 further comprising a groove disposed on the outer surface of the female connector and an annulus disposed on the float configured to mate with the groove.
13. An apparatus comprising a card having a plurality of fishing line connectors removably disposed thereon, each connector having first and second opposite ends and a longitudinal axis, and having an axial bore extending from the first end to the second end thereof.
14. A method for linear connection of fishing lines comprising:
providing a female connector having first and second opposite ends and a longitudinal axis, the first end connected to a first fishing line section and the second end having an opening therein, the connector having a co-axial interior feature with a radial extent;
providing a male connector having first and second opposite ends and a longitudinal axis, the second end connected to a second fishing line section and the first end configured for coaxial insertion into the opening of the female connector, the second end having a radial extent greater than the radial extent of the female connector;
inserting the male connector into the opening of the female connector; and
moving the radial extent of the second end of the male connector axially past the interior feature of the female connector.
15. The method of claim 14 in which the step of providing a first fishing line section connected to a female connector includes passing an end of the first fishing line through an axial bore in the female connector and knotting the end of the first fishing line.
16. The method of claim 15 further comprising:
providing a plurality of the female connectors on a card; and
separating one of the female connectors from the card after knotting the end of the first fishing line.
17. The method of claim 15 further comprising:
providing a float having an axial bore; and
passing the end of the first fishing line through the bore of the float prior to passing the end of the first fishing line through the bore of the female connector.
18. A method for replacing a fishing line section comprising:
providing a first fishing line section connected to a female connector, the female connector having an outer surface with an aperture disposed thereon;
providing a second fishing line section connected to a male connector, the male connector being connected to the female connector;
moving the male connector through the aperture to separate the male connector from the female connector;
cutting the second fishing line and discarding the second fishing line and the male connector;
providing a second male connector having first and second opposite ends and a longitudinal axis, the second end connected to a third fishing line section and the first end configured for coaxial insertion into the opening of the female connector, the second end of the male connector having a radial extent greater than a radial extent of an interior feature of the female connector;
inserting the second male connector into the opening of the female connector; and
moving the radial extent of the second end of the male connector axially past the interior feature of the female connector.

1. A wireless mobile device for providing challengeresponse based authentication comprising:
a wireless transceiver operative to receive a first portion of a challenge from an external authentication unit;
an internal partial challenge generator, operatively coupled to the wireless transceiver, operative to provide internally, a second portion of the challenge and to provide the internally generated second portion of the challenge to the wireless transceiver for transmission for the authentication unit;
combiner logic, operatively coupled to the internal partial challenge generator, and operative to combine the externally received first portion of the challenge with the internally produced second portion of the challenge to produce a complete challenge; and
a response generator, operatively coupled to the wireless transceiver, and operative to produce a response based on the complete challenge for transmission to the external authentication unit.
2. The wireless mobile device of claim 1 wherein the internal partial challenge generator provides the second portion of the challenge by generating a random number as the second portion of the challenge and wherein the combiner logic combines the random number with the first portion of the challenge to produce the complete challenge and wherein the response generator generates the response based on an application of a cryptographic algorithm using both the complete challenge and secret wireless mobile device identification information.
3. The wireless mobile device of claim 1 wherein the received external first portion of the challenge had a first bit length and wherein the internally generated second portion of the challenge has a second and different bit length.
4. The wireless mobile device of claim 1 comprising a counter operative to count a number of time that a same second portion of the challenge has been used to generate a response and wherein the internal partial challenge generator generates a new second portion of a challenge in response to the count.
5. The wireless mobile device of claim 1 wherein the transceiver sends both the response and the second portion of the challenge to the authentication unit in response to the received first portion of the challenge.
6. A wireless mobile device for providing challengeresponse based authentication comprising:
a secure subscriber identity module (SIM) comprising:
an internal partial challenge generator operative to provide internally, a second portion of a challenge in response to receiving an external first portion of the challenge and to provide the internally generated second portion of the challenge for transmission to the authentication unit;
combiner logic, operatively coupled to the internal partial challenge generator, and operative to combine the externally received first portion of the challenge with the internally produced second portion of the challenge to produce a complete challenge; and
a response generator to produce a response based on the complete challenge for transmission to the external authentication unit.
7. A method for providing challengeresponse based authentication comprising:
providing internally, a second portion of a challenge;
combining an externally received first portion of the challenge with the internally produced second portion of the challenge to produce a complete challenge;
producing a response based on the complete challenge for transmission to an external authentication unit; and
sending the response and the internally produced second portion of the challenge to an external authentication unit.
8. The method of claim 7 comprising providing the second portion of the challenge by generating a random number as the second portion of the challenge and combining the random number with the first portion of the challenge to produce the complete challenge and generating the response based on an application of a cryptographic algorithm using both the complete challenge and secret wireless mobile device identification information.
9. The method of claim 7 wherein the received external first portion of the challenge had a first bit length and wherein the internally generated second portion of the challenge has a second and different bit length.
10. The method of claim 7 comprising determining a number of times that a same second portion of the challenge has been used to generate the response and generating a new partial challenge in response to the number of times that a same second portion of the challenge has been used.
11. A method for providing challengeresponse based authentication comprising:
wirelessly transmitting a first portion of a challenge to a wireless mobile device;
receiving the first portion of the challenge and providing internally, a second portion of the challenge in response to receiving the first portion of the challenge;
combining the received first portion of the challenge with the internally produced second portion of the challenge to produce a complete challenge;
producing a response based on the complete challenge for transmission to the external authentication unit;
wirelessly sending the response and the second portion of the challenge to an external authentication unit;
receiving the sent response and the second portion of the challenge; and
generating an expected authentication response based on a locally stored first portion of the challenge and the received second portion of the challenge and comparing the generated expected authentication response to the received response to determine whether to verify the wireless mobile device.
12. The method of claim 11 comprising providing the second portion of the challenge by generating a random number as the second portion of the challenge and combining the random number with the first portion of the challenge to produce the complete challenge and generating the response based on an application of a cryptographic algorithm using both the complete challenge and secret wireless mobile device identification information.
13. The method of claim 11 wherein the received external first portion of the challenge had a first bit length and wherein the internally generated second portion of the challenge has a second and different bit length.
14. The method of claim 11 comprising determining a number of times that a same second portion of the challenge has been used to generate the response and generating a new partial challenge in response to the number of times that a same second portion of the challenge has been used.
15. The method of claim 11 comprising generating a challengeexpected response pair based on the first portion of the challenge and the received second portion of the challenge and generating a future challengeexpected response pair based on a received future second portion of a challenge and a generated future first portion of the challenge.
16. The method of claim 15 further comprising sending the challengeexpected response pair and the future challengeexpected response pair to a remote unit operative to compare the received response with the expected response to determine if authentication should be granted.
17. A method for providing challengeresponse based authentication comprising:
wirelessly transmitting a first portion of a challenge to a wireless mobile device;
generating an expected response based on a locally stored first portion of the challenge and a received second portion of the challenge;
generating a future expected response based on a received future second portion of a challenge; and
sending the expected response and the future expected response to a remote unit for comparison with at received response.
18. The method of claim 17 comprising generating a challengeexpected response pair based on the first portion of the challenge and the received second portion of the challenge and generating a future challengeexpected response pair based on the received future second portion of a challenge and a generated future first portion of the challenge.
19. The method of claim 18 further comprising sending the challengeexpected response pair and the future challengeexpected response pair to a remote unit operative to compare the received response with the expected response to determine if authentication should be granted.
