What is claimed is:
1. An applicator device for forming a containment border on an analytic plate, the applicator device comprising:
a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and the reservoir containing a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silane, a silicone, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof and wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil, and wherein when the applicator end is appressed to a surface of a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate, the liquid composition flows from the reservoir through the applicator end to the surface of the analytic plate.
2. The applicator device of claim 1 wherein the liquid composition contained within the reservoir of the pen is colored.
3. The applicator device of claim 1 wherein the liquid composition contained within the reservoir of the pen is colorless.
4. The applicator device of claim 1 wherein the liquid composition contained within the reservoir of the pen forms a transparent or translucent containment border when deposited on the analytic plate.
5. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and a applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition contained within the reservoir; and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch.
6. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
7. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
8. The method of claim 5 wherein the containment border is transparent.
9. The method of claim 5 wherein the containment border is translucent.
10. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is a polysiloxane.
11. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is a siloxane.
12. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is a silicone.
13. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is a silicon fluid.
14. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is a silane.
15. The method of claim 5 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is absent an oil.
16. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silane, a silicone, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof contained within the reservoir; and
oppressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, thereby providing the analytic plate with the containment border on the surface thereof and wherein the containment border has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch after drying.
17. The method of claim 16 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
18. The method of claim 16 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
19. The method of claim 16 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is absent an oil.
20. The method of claim 16 wherein the containment border is transparent.
21. The method of claim 16 wherein the containment border is translucent.
22. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a polysiloxane contained within the reservoir; and
manually holding the pen and oppressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and applying a containment border to the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch.
23. The method of claim 22 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
24. The method of claim 22 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
25. The method of claim 22 wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil.
26. The method of claim 22 wherein the containment border is transparent.
27. The method of claim 22 wherein the containment border is translucent.
28. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a siloxane contained within the reservoir; and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and applying a containment border to the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch.
29. The method of claim 28 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
30. The method of claim 28 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
31. The method of claim 28 wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil.
32. The method of claim 28 wherein the containment border is transparent.
33. The method of claim 28 wherein the containment border is translucent.
34. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a silicone contained within the reservoir; and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and applying a containment border to the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch.
35. The method of claim 34 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
36. The method of claim 34 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
37. The method of claim 34 wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil.
38. The method of claim 34 wherein the containment border is transparent.
39. The method of claim 34 wherein the containment border is translucent.
40. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a silicon fluid contained within the reservoir; and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and applying a containment border to the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch.
41. The method of claim 40 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
42. The method of claim 40 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
43. The method of claim 40 wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil.
44. The method of claim 40 wherein the containment border is transparent.
45. The method of claim 40 wherein the containment border is translucent.
46. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a silane contained within the reservoir;
and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and applying a containment border to the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch.
47. The method of claim 46 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
48. The method of claim 46 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
49. The method of claim 46 wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil.

52. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and a applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition contained within the reservoir; and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, wherein the containment border after drying has a thickness of less than 0.00001 inch and is transparent or translucent.
53. The method of claim 52 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colored.
54. The method of claim 52 wherein the liquid composition in the pen is colorless.
55. The method of claim 52 wherein the liquid composition in the pen comprises a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silicone, a silicon fluid, a silane, or a combination thereof.
56. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silane, a silicone, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof contained within the reservoir and wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil; and
appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, thereby providing the analytic plate with the containment border on the surface thereof.
57. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and a quantity of a liquid composition comprising a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silicone, a silane, or a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof contained within the reservoir and wherein the liquid composition is absent an oil; and
appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, thereby providing the analytic plate with the containment border on the surface thereof wherein the containment border is transparent or translucent.
58. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and a applicator end and the reservoir containing a quantity of a liquid composition comprising at least 1% of a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silane, a silicone, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof; and
manually holding the pen and appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate thereby forming a containment border on the surface, the containment border comprising the polysiloxane, siloxane, silane, silicone, silicon fluid or combination thereof.
59. The method of claim 58 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 2.5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
60. The method of claim 58 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
61. The method of claim 58 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 10% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
62. The method of claim 58 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 15% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.

67. A method of forming a containment border on an analytic plate, comprising:
providing a glass, plastic, or ceramic analytic plate;
providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and the reservoir containing a quantity of a liquid composition comprising at least 1% of a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silicone, a silane, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof; and
appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, the containment border comprising the polysiloxane, siloxane, silane, silicone, silicon fluid, or combination thereof, wherein the containment border is transparent or translucent.
68. The method of claim 67 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 2.5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
69. The method of claim 67 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
70. The method of claim 67 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 10% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.

providing a pen comprising a reservoir and an applicator end and the reservoir containing a quantity of a liquid composition comprising at least 1% of a polysiloxane, a siloxane, a silicone, a silane, a silicon fluid, or a combination thereof; and
appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, the containment border comprising the polysiloxane, siloxane, silane, silicone, silicon fluid, or combination thereof, wherein the containment border has a thickness of less than 0.0001 after drying.
77. The method of claim 76 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 2.5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
78. The method of claim 76 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.

appressing the applicator end to a surface of the analytic plate and forming a containment border on the surface, the containment border comprising the polysiloxane, siloxane, silane, silicone, silicon fluid, or combination thereof, wherein the containment border is transparent or translucent and has a thickness of less than 0.0001 inch after drying.
86. The method of claim 85 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 2.5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.
87. The method of claim 85 wherein in the step of providing the pen, the liquid composition comprises at least 5% of the polysiloxane, the siloxane, the silane, the silicone, the silicon fluid, or the combination thereof.

An initialization method of an optical recording medium wherein a second optical recording layer and first optical recording layer are successively stacked on a substrate through an interlayer, a protective layer is formed over the first optical recording layer, a recording film of at least the first optical recording layer has a phase change type recording medium, and recordingreproducing light is irradiated from the protective layer side at the time of recordingreproduction, wherein
the material forming the interlayer has a sufficient transmittance with respect to a wavelength of the recordingreproducing light and has an absorption with respect to a wavelength of the initializing light and wherein,
in a step of initialization by irradiating initializing light to the first optical recording layer from the protective film side, laser light having a wavelength range of 200 nm to 400 nm is used as the initializing light.
2. An initialization method of an optical recording medium as set forth in claim 1, wherein:
the initializing light is from an Ar gas laser having a wavelength in the range of 200 nm to 400 nm, and
the material composing the interlayer is an organic material.
3. An initialization method of an optical recording medium as set forth in claim 1, wherein:
the initializing light is from an Ar gas laser having a wavelength in the range from 200 nm to 400 nm, and
the material composing the interlayer is a polycarbonate resin.
