1. A latching mechanism comprising:
a latch;
a cam configured to rotate about an axis of rotation, the cam further configured to displace an end of the latch when the cam is rotated about the axis of rotation; and
a slider operably connected to the cam and configured to cause the cam to rotate about the axis of rotation.
2. The latching mechanism of claim 1, further comprising a boot operably connected to the slider.
3. The latching mechanism of claim 2, wherein the boot includes a handle.
4. The latching mechanism of claim 1, wherein the end of the latch is a first end of the latch, the latching mechanism further comprising a retaining cover configured to substantially constrain a second end of the latch opposite the first end of the latch from being displaced by rotation of the cam.
5. The latching mechanism of claim 4, wherein the cover comprises a thermally insulating material.
6. The latching mechanism of claim 4, wherein the retaining cover includes a resiliently curved section configured to bias the latch into a latched position.
7. The latching mechanism of claim 1, wherein the end of the latch is a first end of the latch and wherein the latch includes a second end opposite the first end, the second end having a cutout configured to engage a protrusion of a shell of a module in which the latching mechanism is implemented.
8. The latching mechanism of claim 1, wherein the cam includes two pins defining the axis of rotation, a connecting portion extending between the two pins, a lifting member extending from the connecting portion so as to displace the end of the latch when the cam is rotated about the axis of rotation, and a cam leg extending at least partially downward from each end of the connecting portion.
9. The latching mechanism of claim 8, wherein the slider includes two cutouts, each configured to receive and engage a corresponding one of the cam legs.
10. A module comprising:
a shell defining a cavity within which at least one transmitter and at least one receiver are disposed for transmitting and receiving data signals, the shell including two slots; and
a latching mechanism, the latching mechanism comprising:
a cam including two pins defining an axis of rotation, the two pins being received in the two slots of the shell, the cam further including a connecting portion extending between the two pins, a lifting member extending from the connecting portion, and a cam leg extending from each end of the connecting portion;
a latch having a first end and a second end with the first end positioned above the lifting member of the cam and the second end secured to the shell; and
a slider having two cutouts within which the cam legs of the cam are received.
11. The module of claim 10, wherein the module is substantially compliant with the CXP form factor.
12. The module of claim 10, wherein the second end of the latch has a cutout that engages a protrusion of the shell.
13. The module of claim 10, wherein the shell comprises a top shell and a bottom shell, the latching mechanism further comprising a retaining cover at least partially surrounding an end of the top shell and bottom shell and securing the top shell and bottom shell together.
14. The module of claim 13, wherein the retaining cover includes a resiliently curved section configured to exert a downward force on the second end of the latch against the shell.
15. The module of claim 13, wherein the retaining cover is color-coded, the color-coding providing information concerning a characteristic of the module.
16. The module of claim 10, further comprising a plurality of springs configured to bias the slider to a non-activated position.
17. The module of claim 16, wherein the slider includes a plurality of tabs configured to be engaged by the plurality of springs.
18. The module of claim 10, wherein the latch includes a plurality of protrusions formed in the first end, each of the plurality of protrusions having a sloped leading edge.
19. The module of claim 10, wherein the slider includes a plurality of coupling structures.
20. The module of claim 19, wherein the latching mechanism further comprises a boot overmolded over the plurality of coupling structures of the slider such that the slider and boot are operatively connected together.

1. A computer implemented method performed by one or more processors when executing computer executable instructions for the method, wherein the computer-implemented method controls a user interface for a web-based color selection process comprising:
storing at a server memory a database of colors and metadata related to each of the colors, the metadata including for each color in the database at least color family, color group and color popularity information;
at a server processor configured with a search engine, receiving from an interface at a user device a request to search the database of colors;
in response to the received request, the server processor searching the database of colors and controlling the user interface by performing the following:
performing a first search of the database of colors at the server memory based on color family and displaying at the interface of the user device a set of color choices in a color family, along with sort criteria for color family, color group and color popularity;
based on selecting at the interface sort criteria for one or more color groups for the color family, the server processor performing a second search and grouping the color family into one or more subsets of color groups, and displaying at the interface at least one color group, along with said sort criteria;
selecting at the interface at least one color from a displayed color group, and displaying at the interface the at least one selected color, and then selecting the color popularity sort criteria
the server processor then performing a third search and displaying color popularity at the interface for the at least one selected color;

receiving additional requests at the server processor and the server processor performing the first, second and third searches of the database for additional colors and displaying at the interface one or more additional colors;
selecting at the interface a color of interest from the at least one selected color and the one or more additional colors which resulted from the searching performed by the server processor; and
displaying an image of the color of interest against a gray background that accounts for simultaneous contrast and crispening effect.
2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the database includes additional information which comprises colors that have been preselected to coordinate with other colors and displaying the additional information for at least one selected color of interest.
3. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, wherein the additional information further comprises selected images illustrating how the selected color of interest has been previously used.
4. The computer-implemented method of claim 3, further comprising displaying at the user interface the at least one selected image illustrating how the selected color of interest has been previously used.
5. The computer-implemented method of claim 2, wherein the additional information further comprises digital representations of matching or coordinating home decor items.
6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising sharing a selected color of interest by using a social networking site or e-mail.
7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the set of color choices displayed for a color family is chromatically displayed.
8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising displaying at the user interface at least one selected color interest using a color visualization software program.
9. The computer-implemented method of claim 8, wherein the color visualization software program includes a color visualization tool which permits, a selected color of interest to be visualized on a three dimensional representation.
10. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising displaying at the user interface purchasing information for at least one selected color of interest.
11. The computer-implemented method of claim 10, wherein the purchasing information includes information identifying one or more places to purchase paint in at least one selected color of interest.
12. The computer-implemented method of claim 10, wherein the purchasing information includes an on-line purchase order.
13. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, further comprising displaying at the user interface information for a paint formulation for at least one selected color of interest.
14. The computer-implemented method of claim 13, wherein the information for a paint formulation includes a link to a color formula retrieval tool.
15. The computer-implemented method of claim 1, wherein the executable instructions are provided on one or more computer readable hardware storage devices.
16. A computing system comprising:
a user device containing one or more processors and having a display for use with an interface;
a server computing system comprising one or more processors, and a memory containing computer executable instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform a computer-implemented method for controlling the user interface at the user device when used for a web-based color selection process, and the computer-implemented method comprising:
storing at a server memory a database of colors and metadata related to each of the colors, the metadata including for each color in the database at least color family, color group and color popularity information;
at a server processor configured with a search engine, receiving from an interface at a user device a request to search the database of colors;
in response to the received request, the server processor searching the database of colors and controlling the user interface by performing the following:
performing a first search of the database of colors at the server memory based on color family and displaying at the interface of the user device a set of color choices in a color family, along with sort criteria for color family, color group and color popularity;
based on selecting at the interface one or more color groups for the color family, the server processor performing a second search and grouping the color family into one or more subsets of color groups, and displaying at the interface at least one color group, along with said sort criteria;
selecting at the interface at least one color from a displayed color group, and displaying at the interface the at least one selected color, and then selecting the color popularity sort criteria;
the server processor then performing a third search and displaying color popularity at the interface for the at least one selected color;

receiving additional requests at the server processor and the server processor performing the first, second and third searches of the database for additional colors and displaying at the interface one or more additional colors;
selecting at the interface a color of interest from the at least one selected color and the one or more additional colors which resulted from the searching performed by the server processor; and
displaying an image of the color of interest against a gray background that accounts for simultaneous contrast and crispening effect.
17. The computing system of claim 16, wherein the database includes additional information which comprises colors that have been preselected to coordinate with other colors and displaying the additional information for at least one selected color of interest.
18. The computing system of claim 17, wherein the additional information further comprises selected images illustrating how a selected color of interest has been previously used.
19. The computing system of claim 18, wherein the additional information further comprises digital representations of matching or coordinating home decor items and displaying the additional information for at least one selected color of interest.
20. The computing system of claim 19, wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises displaying at the user interface at least one of the selected images illustrating how a selected color of interest has been previously used and the digital representations of matching or coordinating home d\xe9cor items.
21. The computing system of claim 16, wherein the set of color choices displayed for a color family is chromatically displayed.
22. The computing system of claim 16, wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises displaying at the user interface at least one selected color of interest using a color visualization software program.
23. The computing system of claim 22, wherein the color visualization software program includes a color visualization tool which permits the at least one selected color of interest to be visualized on a three dimensional representation.
24. The computing system of claim 16, wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises displaying at the user interface purchasing information for at least one selected color of interest.
25. The computing system of claim 24, wherein the purchasing information includes an on-line purchase order.
26. The computing system of claim 24, wherein the purchasing information includes information identifying one or more places to purchase paint in the at least one selected color of interest.
27. The computing system of claim 16, further comprising displaying at the user interface information for a paint formulation for at least one selected color of interest.
28. The computing system of claim 27, wherein the information for a paint formulation includes a link to a color formula retrieval tool.
29. The computing system of claim 16, wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises identifying and displaying a color that is related to at least one selected color of interest but is lighter or darker than the at least one selected color of interest.
30. The computing system of claim 16, wherein the computer-implemented method further comprises identify and displaying a color that is related to at least one selected color of interest but has a different hue than the at least one selected color of interest.
