The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said automatic processing action comprises performing a statistical analysis upon one or more overflow sub-strings, and, responsive to such statistical analysis, performing a system resource allocation to accommodate increased storage to handle without overflow said input strings.
4. The method as set forth in claim 3 wherein said step of performing a system resource allocation is performed by an on-demand computing system.
5. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said predetermined automatic processing action is selected by evaluation of a service level agreement.
6. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said predetermined automatic processing action is selected by evaluation of a user’s organization role.
7. The system as set forth in claim 1 wherein step of receiving a user-provided string of characters comprises reception by a front-end application server from a user’s networked device.
8. The method as set forth in claim 7 wherein said steps of determining, accumulating, comparing, extracting and storing are performed by a plug-in program product disposed in said front-end application server.
9. The method as set forth in claim 7 wherein said steps of determining, accumulating, comparing, extracting and storing are performed by a web services system accessible via a network by said front-end application server.
10. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said steps of determining, accumulating, comparing, extracting and storing are performed by a plug-in program product disposed in said user’s networked device.
11. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said step of determining character lengths comprises determining lengths in digital units of storage selected from the group of bits, bytes, words, and double-words.
12. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said encoding schema comprises a multi-language encoding schema.
13. The method as set forth in claim 12 wherein said encoding scheme comprises an encoding schema having segmented codepoint assignments.
14. The method as set forth in claim 13 wherein said step of determining character lengths comprises determining a codepoint segment for each character based upon a codepoint assignment of each character.
15. The method as set forth in claim 13 wherein said encoding schema comprises Unicode UTF-8.
16. The method as set forth in claim 1 wherein said step of comparing comprises comparing to meet a maximum string length requirement.
17. The method as set forth in claim 1 further comprises in the steps and limitations of:
inserting hidden fields in web pages;
passing by a front-end application program one or more specified string input limits of database fields said hidden fields; and
concurrent with said step of receiving a user-provided string of characters intended for input into a database, performing said steps of determining a character length in quantities of digital units of storage and accumulating said character lengths to yield a total string length until the strings reach a specified limit.
18. The method as set forth in claim 17 wherein said step of inserting hidden fields in web pages is performed by a member of the group of a strut and a Java Server Face.
19. The method as set forth in claim 1 further comprising the steps and limitations of:
storing a database catalog as a cache on a database client device;
performing said steps of accumulating and comparing by said client device such that only checked and qualified input strings are submitted to a front-end application program.
20. The method as set forth in claim 19 wherein said steps of accumulating and comparing are performed during periods of disconnection between said client device and said front-end application program, and wherein said steps of submission and blocking are performing during periods of connection between said client device and said front-end application program
