1. An emergency shower system operable with a fluid, a fluid delivery apparatus, a dispensing shower head and a valve for controlling the flow of fluid, the system comprising:
a frame having an opening to provide access to the valve;
a panel mounted over said frame opening and having a panel opening;
a plate movable adjacent said panel to close said panel opening, said plate being movable relative to said panel between two positions;
a handle connected to said plate for moving said plate;
a linkage connecting said plate to said valve whereby movement of said plate between said two positions causes operation of said valve; and
said plate and said panel being structured and dimensioned to collectively cover said frame opening.
2. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein:
said frame mounts to a wall having an opening.
3. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein:
said plate moves vertically between said two positions; and
said linkage translates the vertical movement of said plate to rotational movement at said valve.
4. The system as claimed in claim 3 wherein:
said linkage includes a front link pivotally connected to said plate and a rear link pivotally connected to said front link and to said valve.
5. The system as claimed in claim 4 wherein:
said handle extends away from said plate about one and a half inches.
6. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein
said handle extends away from said plate about one and a half inches.
7. The system as claimed in claim 1 including:
an eyeface wash station, said station including a rotatable tray, two spray nozzles mounted to said tray, a second valve connected to said tray, said valve being operated by said rotatable tray.
8. The system as claimed in claim 5 including:
an eyeface wash station, said station including a rotatable tray, two spray nozzles mounted to said tray, a second valve connected to said tray, said valve being operated by said rotatable tray.
9. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein:
said linkage includes first and second links which are pivotally connected to said plate, to said valve and to each other.
10. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein:
said plate is mounted to move vertically.
11. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein:
said handle moves parallel to said panel during movement of said plate.
12. The system as claimed in claim 1 including:
an eyeface wash station having a rotatable tray, a pair of fluid dispensers and a valve, said tray being movable from a closed generally vertical position to an open generally horizontal position.
13. The system as claimed in claim 1 wherein:
said plate is mounted to move vertically; and
said handle moves parallel to said panel during movement of said plate.
14. The system as claimed in claim 13 wherein:
said linkage includes first and second links which are pivotally connected to said plate, to said valve and to each other.
15. The system as claimed in claim 14 including:
an eyeface wash station having a rotatable tray, a pair of fluid dispensers, a valve, and a delivery apparatus connected to said valve and to said pair of dispensers, said tray moving from a closed generally vertical position to an open generally horizontal position.
16. An emergency shower system comprising:
a pipe adapted to be connected to a fluid source, said pipe being located behind a wall and said wall having an opening;
a valve connected to said pipe;
a showerhead connected to said pipe;
a frame connected to said wall in said opening, said frame having an opening;
a panel mounted over said frame opening, said panel having an opening;
a movable plate mounted to said panel for closing said panel opening;
a handle mounted to said plate for moving said plate in a vertical direction; and
a linkage pivotally connected to said plate and to said valve for translating vertical motion of said plate to rotational motion at said valve.
17. The system as claimed in claim 14 including:
an eyeface wash station having a pull down tray and a spray nozzle.
18. An emergency shower system to be connected to a fluid source, the flow of fluid being controlled by a valve, said system comprising:
a linkage connected to said valve for operating said valve; and
a plate having an inner surface and an outer surface connected to said linkage for moving said linkage and for completely covering said linkage to prevent liquid and debris beyond said outer surface from contacting said linkage.
19. The system as claimed in claim 18 including:
a handle connected to said plate for moving said plate in a vertical direction; and
wherein
said handle extends away from said plate a distance of about one and a half inches.
20. The system as claimed in claim 19 including:
an eyeface wash station including a rotatable tray, a spray nozzle mounted to said tray and a second valve operable by rotation of said tray.

1. An alternating current (AC) lighting system comprising:
an LED load;
a rectifier configured to receive AC voltage from an AC power source and generate rectified AC voltage by rectifying the AC voltage from the AC power source;
an LED driver configured to receive the rectified AC voltage from the rectifier and drive the LED load; and
a surge protection circuit disposed between the AC power source and the LED driver; and
a current limiting circuit disposed between the AC power source and the LED driver.
2. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the surge protection circuit is selected from a group comprising a gas discharge tube, a metal oxide varistor (MOV), a resistor, and a transient-voltage-suppression (TVS) diode.
3. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the surge protection circuit comprises a first surge protection circuit and a second surge protection circuit.
4. The AC lighting system of claim 3, wherein the first surge protection circuit is disposed between the AC power source and the rectifier, and wherein the second surge protection circuit is disposed between the rectifier and the LED driver.
5. The AC lighting system of claim 4, wherein the second surge protection circuit includes a TVS diode, or a TVS diode and a resistor connected in series.
6. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the current limiting circuit comprises a first current limiting circuit connected on a live wire of an AC power line and a second current limiting circuit connected on a neutral wire of the AC power line.
7. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the surge protection circuit is connected between a live wire of an AC power line and a neural wire of the AC power line.
8. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the current limiting circuit and the surge protection circuit are connected in series.
9. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the current limiting circuit comprises an inductor and a resistor connected in parallel.
10. The AC lighting system of claim 9, wherein the current limiting circuit is connected to a live wire of an AC power line.
11. The AC lighting system of claim 9, wherein the current limiting circuit is connected to a neutral wire of an AC power line.
12. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the surge protection circuit further comprises a MOV and a capacitor connected in series between an AC power line and an earth ground.
13. The AC lighting system of claim 12, wherein the MOV and the capacitor are connected in series between a live wire of the AC power line and the earth ground.
14. The AC lighting system of claim 12, wherein the MOV and the capacitor are connected in series between a neutral wire of the AC power line and the earth ground.
15. The AC lighting system of claim 12, wherein the surge protection circuit creates a current path and directs excessive current to the earth ground through the current path.
16. The AC lighting system of claim 12, further comprises a post surge protection circuit disposed between the rectifier and the LED driver.
17. The AC lighting system of claim 16, the post surge protection circuit includes a TVS diode, a TVS diode and a resistor connected in series, or an MOV.
18. The AC lighting system of claim 1, wherein the surge protection circuit further comprises a capacitor connected between an AC power line and an earth ground.
19. The AC lighting system of claim 18, wherein the capacitor is connected between a live wire of the AC power line and the earth ground.
20. The AC lighting system of claim 18, wherein the capacitor is connected between a neutral wire of the AC power line and the earth ground.
21. The AC lighting system of claim 18, further comprises a post surge protection circuit disposed between the rectifier and the LED driver.
22. The AC lighting system of claim 18, the post surge protection circuit includes a TVS diode, a TVS diode and a resistor connected in series, or an MOV.
23. A method of providing surge protection for an AC lighting system, the method comprising:
providing a first current limiting circuit between a live wire of an AC power line and a rectifier;
providing a second current limiting circuit between a neutral wire of the AC power line and the rectifier;
providing a surge protection circuit between the live wire and the neutral wire of the AC power line; and
limiting excessive current entering from the AC power line into the rectifier.
24. The method of claim 23, wherein the surge protection circuit comprises a MOV and a capacitor connected in series between the AC power line and an earth ground.
25. The method of claim 23, further comprising providing a post surge protection circuit between the rectifier and an LED driver.
