1. A multimode communication device (MCD), comprising:
a global position (GPS) receiver;
a multimode wireless transceiver;
a controller coupled to the GPS receiver and to the multimode wireless transceiver, wherein the controller is coupled to a memory storing instructions that when executed cause the controller to:
authenticate the MCD with a first wireless access point;
request a first internet protocol (IP) address from the first wireless access point;
receive the first IP address;
establish communications with a network management system (NMS) via the first wireless access point using the first IP address;
determine a location using the GPS receiver;
transmit the location via the first wireless access point to the NMS;
receive, via the first wireless access point, a second IP address from the NMS in response to a prediction made by the NMS that a second wireless access point will be within a first communication range of the MCD while the MCD continues to be within a second communication range of the first wireless access point, wherein the prediction is made by the NMS prior to communications between the MCD and the second wireless access point and based on a speed of the MCD, a route of the MCD and locations of a plurality of wireless access points including the second wireless access point, and wherein the prediction is made by the NMS without scanning for the second wireless access point;
detect the second wireless access point;
authenticate the MCD with the second wireless access point; and
establish communications with the second wireless access point using the second IP address.
2. The MCD of claim 1, wherein the controller is programmed to:
establish communications with a third party communication device via the first wireless access point; and
handoff communications with the third party communication device from the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point according to the second IP address.
3. The MCD of claim 2, wherein the controller is programmed to relinquish the first IP address in response to the communications handoff from the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point.
4. The MCD of claim 2, wherein the communications handoff from the first wireless access point to the second wireless access point has a low impact on communications between the MCD and the third party communication device.
5. The MCD of claim 2, wherein the controller is programmed to process communications between the MCD and the third party communication device according to a Voice over IP (VoIP) communications protocol.
6. The MCD of claim 1, wherein the controller is programmed to authenticate the MCD with the first wireless access point according to a network identifier.
7. The MCD of claim 6, wherein the network identifier comprises a service set identifier (SSID) and one or more encryption keys associated with the first wireless access point.
8. The MCD of claim 1, wherein the controller is programmed to:
receive a frequency adjustment request from the NMS;
adjust a frequency for monitoring the location according to the frequency adjustment request; and
transmit the location to the NMS at times according to the adjusted frequency for monitoring the location.
9. The MCD of claim 1, wherein the controller is programmed to:
detect a change in speed of the MCD;
adjust a frequency for monitoring the location according to the detected change in speed; and
transmit the location to the NMS at times according to the adjusted frequency for monitoring the location of the MCD.
10. The MCD of claim 1, wherein the controller is programmed to:
receive an indication from the NMS when the MCD is within a communication range of the second wireless access point; and
scan for the second wireless access point in response to the indication.
11. The MCD of claim 10, wherein the controller is programmed to:
receive an indication from the NMS when the MCD is within a communication range of the second wireless access point;
scan for the second wireless access point in response to the indication;
receive from the NMS a network identifier associated with the second wireless access point in response to the NMS determining that the MCD is near the second wireless access point; and
authenticate the MCD with the second wireless access point according to the network identifier.
12. A computer-readable storage device in a multimode communication device (MCD) comprising computer instructions for receiving over a first wireless access point a second internet protocol (IP) address from a network management system (NMS) in response to a prediction by the NMS that a second wireless access point will be within a first communication range of the MCD while the MCD continues to be within a second communication range of the first wireless access point, wherein the prediction is made by the NMS prior to communications between the MCD and the second wireless access point and based on a speed of the MCD, a route of the MCD, and locations of a plurality of wireless access points including the second wireless access point, and wherein the prediction is made by the NMS prior to scanning for the second wireless access point by the MCD or the NMS.
13. The storage device of claim 12, comprising computer instructions for establishing communications with a third party communication device over the second wireless access point according to the second IP address.
14. The computer-readable storage device of claim 12, wherein the MCD communicates with a device via the first wireless access point.
15. A network management system (NMS), comprising:
a controller for managing operations of a communications interface for exchanging messages with a plurality of multimode communication devices (MCDs) wherein the controller is programmed to:
register an MCD at a first wireless access point;
receive monitored locations of the MCD from the MCD via the first wireless access point;
determine according to the monitored locations that a second wireless access point is predicted to be within a first communication range of the MCD while the MCD continues to be within a second communication range of the first wireless access point, wherein the determination is made prior to communications between the MCD and the second wireless access point and based on a speed of the MCD, a route of the MCD, and locations of a plurality of wireless access points including the second wireless access point, and wherein the determination is made without scanning being performed for the second wireless access point by the MCD or the NMS;
identify an internet protocol (IP) address associated with the second wireless access point; and
transmit the IP address to the MCD to enable the MCD to establish communications with a third party communication device over the second wireless access point.
16. The NMS of claim 15, wherein the controller is programmed to monitor a speed of the MCD according to the monitored locations of the MCD.
17. The NMS of claim 16, wherein the controller is programmed to transmit a frequency adjustment request to the MCD according to the monitored speed.
18. The NMS of claim 17, wherein the frequency adjustment request comprises a request for a faster rate of monitoring the location of the MCD in response to a detected increase in speed of the MCD or a slower rate of monitoring the location of the MCD in response to a detected decrease in speed of the MCD.
19. The NMS of claim 16, wherein the controller is programmed to:
predict a time when the MCD will be near the second wireless access point according to one or more of the monitored locations of the MCD and its speed; and
transmit the IP address to the MCD at the predicted time.
20. The NMS of claim 19, wherein the controller is programmed to:
identify a network identifier associated with the second wireless access point, wherein the network identifier comprises a service set identifier (SSID) and one or more encryption keys associated with the second wireless access point.

1. A system for monetization of content, the system comprising:
a storage device for storage and retrieval of data;
a library of content and advertisements stored within the storage device, the library comprising an organizational structure for facilitating the storage and retrieval;
a monetization engine for identifying within the library a first content item having a first monetizable feature, the system configured for:
selecting a second content item from a plurality of content items within the library; and
associating the second content item to the first content item by using the first monetizable feature for presentation of the second content item in conjunction with the first content item.
2. The system of claim 1, the system further configured for: presenting the second content item in conjunction with the first content item; and tracking user interactions for the presentation of the second content item.
3. The system of claim 1, the system further configured for:
receiving at least one of the first and second content items, thereby generating a received content item; and
storing the received content item within the organizational structure of the library.
4. The system of claim 1, the monetization engine further configured for calculating a revenue sharing value for the first monetizable feature of the first content item; and for presenting the revenue sharing value to a user of the system.
5. The system of claim 1, wherein the second content item has a cost associated with presentation of the second content item, the system further configured for determining the cost of using the second content item, and selectively presenting the cost to a user of the system, charging the user for the use of the second content item, and distributing the revenue from the use to an owner of the second content item.
6. The system of claim 1, wherein the first content item comprises user generated content; and the second content item comprises an advertisement comprising one or more of a static ad, a dynamic ad, an implicit ad, and an explicit ad.
7. The system of claim 1, the first content item comprising one of image and video data, the first monetizable feature comprising a surface within the first content item for the placement of an advertisement.
8. The system of claim 1, the first monetizable feature comprising a marker within the first content item for the association of the second content item to the first content item, wherein the system is configured for identifying insertion points for the marker, and placing the marker with one or more insertion points, wherein the placing is optionally by user request or by system automation.
9. The system of claim 1, further configured for setting a plurality of insertion points, including dynamic run-time markers for on-the-fly ad insertion at a time of presentation of content.
10. The system of claim 1, further comprising an interface for interacting with the library, the interactions with the library comprising operations to edit, search, sort, and combine content and advertisements stored within the library with selected content and advertisements, the interface comprising a graphical user interface having drag and drop functionality for the placement of one or more of the second content item, a marker, and an insertion point, in relation to the first content item.

The system of claim 1, wherein a user of the system for the monetization of content comprises one or more of an advertiser, an operator, a publisher, an owner of content, a producer, a consumer of content, and a user who shares, distributes, or uploads content, the system further comprising one or more features of a self serve application and an automated system for selecting and associating the second content item with the first content item, for users of the system.
12. The system of claim 1, the system further configured for receiving one or more of:
an advertising campaign for an advertiser, and
an advertiser payment offer and associated ad copy for the presentation of the advertiser’s content including advertisements in conjunction with specific content.
13. The system of claim 1, the system further configured for selectively billing and paying users of the system for qualifying interactions with composites, the composites comprising presentations of the second content item in conjunction with the first content item.
14. The system of claim 1, the system further configured for associating the second content item comprising an advertisement to the first content item by embedding the advertisement within the first content.
15. The system of claim 1, further comprising a user interface configured for layering user generated content and ad copy.
16. The system of claim 1, further configured for modifying ad copy or financial terms of use of content and advertising such that higher rated content receives higher valuation.
17. The system of claim 1, further configured for advertisers to post requests to other users of the system for user generated content (UGC) and for users of the system to search and select data from among the advertisers.
18. The system of claim 1, further comprising automated ad insertion into content based upon collaborative filtering of related past performances for best-match insertion.
19. The system of claim 1, further configured for dynamic ad insertion based upon user or advertiser generated variables resolved at display request time.
20. The system of claim 1, further comprising a device for remote presentation of monetization options to a user of the system.
21. A device for presenting monetization of content to a user, the device comprising:
a capture mechanism for capture of the content, the content comprising one or more monetizable features;
a monetization module for determining a first monetizable feature of the content, and for calculating a first value for the first monetizable feature;
a display for presenting the monetization of the content to the user of the device; and
a storage medium for storing the captured content and optionally storing associated monetization information of the captured content.
22. The device of claim 21, further comprising a networking interface for coupling the device to a networked system, the networked system comprising an engine for monetization of content, the engine in communication with the monetization module.
23. The device of claim 21, further configure for optionally storing the captured content within a library of content and advertisements, thereby generating a first stored content item, the library comprising an organizational structure for facilitating the storage.
24. The device of claim 21, the monetizable feature comprising one or more of a surface of an object within the content and a marker, for the selective placement and presentation of additional content including advertising in conjunction with the content, wherein an advertiser provides one or more of:
an enabled device to a producer of content for generation of content and monetization of the content; and
an online system or website for the submission of pre-generated content where the majority of editing andor monetization occurs within the online system, and submitted content is reviewed and modified manually andor by system automation.
25. A system for tracking user interactions, the system comprising:
a monetization module for associating a first content to a second content, wherein the association is based on the monetization of the first content by using the second content, wherein the system is configured for:
determining a first monetizable feature for the first content;
selecting a second content from a plurality of content; and
associating the second content to the first content by using the first monetizable
feature for presentation of the second content in conjunction with the first content;

a storage device for storing the association between the first and second content;
a location for presenting the first content in conjunction with the second content for consumption by a group of consumer type users;
a tracking module for tracking user interactions for the presentation of the second content; and for calculating a revenue sharing value for the first monetizable feature of the first content, wherein the revenue sharing value is optionally presented to a user of the system, wherein during presentation to consumer type users, the system is configured to monitor the actions of a first consumer of the second content in relation to the second content, wherein the action comprises one or more of clicking to a website, viewing a location on a map, calling a phone number to speak to a marketer, receiving an electronic or physical coupon, and interacting with the content as a result of the content, wherein the monetization of the first content by using the second content comprises one or more of a cost per impression (CPI), cost per click (CPC), cost per lead (CPL), and a cost per action (CPA).
