What is claimed is:
1. A circular saw comprising:
a base; and
a supporting member for supporting the base above ground, the base being pivotally attached to the supporting member.
2. The circular saw as claimed in claim 1, wherein the base comprises a clamping device mounted thereon for supporting an end of a workpiece, the base being pivotable to a position in which another end of the workpiece is supported by the ground.
3. The circular saw as claimed in claim 2, wherein the base comprising a first side, a second side opposite to the first side, and a third side between the first side and the second side, the supporting member being a substantially U-shaped member having two limbs and an intermediate section, each said limb comprising a first section located above the ground and a second section located on the ground, the second section being connected with the intermediate section, the supporting member surrounding the first side, the second side, and the third side of the base.
4. The circular saw as claimed in claim 3, further comprising a fixing member for each said limb, each said fixing member comprising a first end pivotally connected to an associated one of the first side and the second side of the base, each said fixing member further comprising a second end for holding the first section of an associated one of the limbs.
5. The circular saw as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of the first side and the second side of the base comprises a circular mounting portion on an end thereof, each said circular mounting portion having a screw hole, the first end of each said fixing member having a hole, further comprising a bolt extending through the hole of each said fixing member and the screw hole of an associated one of the circular mounting portions.
6. The circular saw as claimed in claim 5, further comprising an elastic element mounted to each said circular mounting portion, each said elastic element comprising a coil portion around the associated circular mounting portion, a first end attached to the base, and a second end attached to the associated limb.
7. The circular saw as claimed in claim 5, wherein each of the first side and the second side of the base comprises a second screw hole in another end thereof, further comprising two guide plates respectively mounted to the first side and the second side of the base, each said guide plate comprising a first portion having a slot and a second portion for holding the second section of the associated limb, further comprising two locking members respectively mounted to the first side and the second side of the base, each said locking member comprising a threaded stem extending therefrom, each said threaded stem being extended through the slot of an associated one of the guide plates into the screw hole in an associated one of the second screw holes of the base, each said locking member being slidable in the slot of the associated guide plate when the locking member does not press against the associated guide plate, thereby allowing pivotal movement of the base relative to the supporting member, each said locking member being locked in place when the locking member presses against the associated guide plate, thereby locking the base in place relative to the supporting member.
8. The circular saw as claimed in claim 6, wherein each of the first side and the second side of the base comprises a second screw hole in another end thereof, further comprising two guide plates respectively mounted to the first side and the second side of the base, each said guide plate comprising a first portion having a slot and a second portion for holding the second section of the associated limb, further comprising two locking members respectively mounted to the first side and the second side of the base, each said locking member comprising a threaded stem extending therefrom, each said threaded stem being extended through the slot of an associated one of the guide plates into the screw hole in an associated one of the second screw holes of the base, each said locking member being slidable in the slot of the associated guide plate when the locking member does not press against the associated guide plate, thereby allowing pivotal movement of the base relative to the supporting member, each said locking member being locked in place when the locking member presses against the associated guide plate, thereby locking the base in place relative to the supporting member.
9. The circular saw as claimed in claim 4, wherein the second end of each said fixing member is an arcuate hook for holding the first section of the associated limb.
10. The circular saw as claimed in claim 5, wherein the second end of each said fixing member is an arcuate hook for holding the first section of the associated limb.
11. The circular saw as claimed in claim 6, wherein the second end of each said fixing member is an arcuate hook for holding the first section of the associated limb.
12. The circular saw as claimed in claim 7, wherein the second end of each said fixing member is an arcuate hook for holding the first section of the associated limb.
13. The circular saw as claimed in claim 8, wherein the second end of each said fixing member is an arcuate hook for holding the first section of the associated limb.
14. The circular saw as claimed in claim 7, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.
15. The circular saw as claimed in claim 8, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.
16. The circular saw as claimed in claim 9, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.
17. The circular saw as claimed in claim 10, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.
18. The circular saw as claimed in claim 11, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.
19. The circular saw as claimed in claim 12, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.
20. The circular saw as claimed in claim 13, wherein the second portion of each said guide plate is an arcuate hook for holding the second section of the associated limb.

1. A method of sealing a multi-component bipolar plate, the method comprising:
inserting a first seal between a first component and a second component, wherein the first seal is aligned with a first plurality of protrusions formed on a surface of at least one of the first component and the second component;
compressing the first component and the second component to cause the penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal; and
plastically deforming the first seal in order to create a first sealing surface between the first component and the second component.
2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
inserting a second seal between the first component and the second component, wherein the second seal is aligned with a second plurality of protrusions formed on at least one of the first component and the second component, wherein compressing the first component and the second component with sufficient force causes the penetration of the second plurality of protrusions into the second seal and the formation of a second sealing surface.
3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
inserting an adhesive between the first component and the second component, wherein the adhesive is configured to control a depth of penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal.
4. The method of claim 3, wherein the adhesive includes the same material as the first seal and is thicker than the first seal.
5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first plurality of protrusions includes at least one protrusion that extends beyond the other protrusions and is configured to function as a hard stop.
6. The method of claim 5, wherein the at least one protrusion that extends beyond is configured to control a depth of penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal.
7. The method of claim 1, further comprising inserting a spacer between the first component and the second component, wherein the spacer is configured to control a depth of penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal and determine a gap height between the first component and the second component.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein the first plurality of protrusions include protrusions of different heights.
9. The method of claim 1, wherein the first plurality of protrusions is knife edge shaped protrusions.
10. The method of claim 3, wherein the adhesive functions as a second seal between the first component and the second component.
11. A bipolar plate system, comprising:
a first component and a second component; and
a first seal configured to be inserted between the first component and the second component, wherein the first seal is aligned with a first plurality of protrusions formed on at least one of the first component and the second component;
wherein compressing the first component and the second component is configured to cause the penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal thereby causing plastic deformation of the first seal and creating a first sealing surface between the first component and the second component.
12. The system of claim 11, further comprising a second seal configured to be inserted between the first component and the second component, wherein the second seal is aligned with a second plurality of protrusions formed on at least one of the first component and the second component, and wherein compressing the first component and the second component is configured to cause the penetration of the second plurality of protrusions into the second seal creating a second sealing surface between the first component and the second component.
13. The system of claim 11, further comprising an adhesive between the first component and the second component, wherein the adhesive is configured to control a depth of penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal.
14. The system of claim 13, wherein the adhesive includes the same material as the first seal and is thicker than the first seal.
15. The system of claim 11, wherein the first plurality of protrusions includes at least one protrusion that extends beyond the other protrusions and is configured to function as a hard stop.
16. The system of claim 15, wherein the at least one protrusion that extends beyond is configured to control a depth of penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal.
17. The system of claim 11, further comprising a spacer inserted between the first component and the second component, wherein the spacer is configured to control a depth of penetration of the first plurality of protrusions into the first seal and determine a gap height between the first component and the second component.
18. The system of claim 11, wherein the first plurality of protrusions include protrusions of different heights.
19. The system of claim 11, wherein the first plurality of protrusions is knife edge shaped protrusions.
20. An electrochemical cell comprising:
a pair of bipolar plates and a membrane electrode assembly located between the pair of bipolar plates;
wherein each bipolar plate comprises:
at least two components; and
a seal configured to be inserted between the at least two components and aligned with a plurality of protrusions, wherein compressing the at least two components is configured to cause the penetration of the plurality of protrusions into the first seal thereby causing plastic deformation of the first seal and creating a first sealing surface between the first component and the second component.
