What is claimed is:

1. A picture image processing apparatus, comprising:
an image storage portion which stores RGB data pixel by pixel which data is obtained from a photographed film image while being separated into color components of R, G, B;
a hue calculator which calculates a hue pixel by pixel based on the RGB data;
a first sampling device which samples pixels having a hue corresponding to a skin color from the RGB data;
a first characteristic quantity calculator which calculates a first characteristic quantity representing a characteristic of the RGB data of the pixels sampled by the first sampling device;
a second sampling device which samples the pixels located in a central part of an image area;
a second characteristic quantity calculator which calculates a second characteristic quantity representing a characteristic of the RGB data of the pixels sampled by the second sampling device;
a correction amount calculator which calculates a density correction amount using the first and second characteristic quantities; and
a density corrector which applies a density correction to the RGB data using the density correction amount.
2. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the correction amount calculator normalizes a group of the first characteristic quantities and a group of the second characteristic quantities of the RGB data of a plurality of standard photographed images, applies Schmidt orthogonalization to the normalized two groups, and calculates a density correction amount by an equation defined by a factor obtained by normalizing the orthogonalized two groups again and variables including the first and second characteristic quantities.
3. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the first characteristic quantity calculator calculates a deviation of a histogram whose horizontal axis represents the value of the RGB data and whose vertical axis represents the number of the pixels from an average value of the RGB data of the standard photographed image as the first characteristic quantity.
4. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the second characteristic quantity calculator calculates an average value of R data of the RGB data as the second characteristic quantity.
5. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 4, wherein the density corrector applies the density correction by adding the density correction amount to the RGB data.
6. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the first characteristic quantity calculator calculates a deviation of a histogram whose horizontal axis represents the value of the RGB data and whose vertical axis represents the number of the pixels from an average value of the RGB data of the standard photographed image as the first characteristic quantity.
7. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the second characteristic quantity calculator calculates an average value of R data of the RGB data as the second characteristic quantity.
8. A picture image processing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the density corrector applies the density correction by adding the density correction amount to the RGB data.
9. A picture processing system, comprising:
a picture image processing apparatus including:
an image storage portion which stores RGB
data pixel by pixel which data is obtained from a photographed film image while being separated into color components of R, G, B;
a hue calculator which calculates a hue pixel by pixel based on the RGB data;
a first sampling device which samples pixels having a hue corresponding to a skin color from the RGB data;
a first characteristic quantity calculator which calculates a first characteristic quantity representing a characteristic of the RGB data of the pixels sampled by the first sampling device;
a second sampling device which samples the pixels located in a central part of an image area;
a second characteristic quantity calculator which calculates a second characteristic quantity representing a characteristic of the RGB data of the pixels sampled by the second sampling device;
a correction amount calculator which calculates a density correction amount using the first and second characteristic quantities; and
a density corrector which applies a density correction to the RGB data using the density correction amount; and

an image exposing apparatus including an image exposure head for exposing a printing sheet by converting a RGB data into a light signal.
10. A picture processing system according to claim 9, wherein the correction amount calculator normalizes a group of the first characteristic quantities and a group of the second characteristic quantities of the RGB data of a plurality of standard photographed images, applies Schmidt orthogonalization to the normalized two groups, and calculates a density correction amount by an equation defined by a factor obtained by normalizing the orthogonalized two groups again and variables including the first and second characteristic quantities.
11. A picture processing system according to claim 10, wherein the first characteristic quantity calculator calculates a deviation of a histogram whose horizontal axis represents the value of the RGB data and whose vertical axis represents the number of the pixels from an average value of the RGB data of the standard photographed image as the first characteristic quantity.
12. A picture processing system according to claim 11, wherein the second characteristic quantity calculator calculates an average value of R data of the RGB data as the second characteristic quantity.
13. A picture processing system according to claim 12, wherein the density corrector applies the density correction by adding the density correction amount to the RGB data.
14. A picture processing system according to claim 9, wherein the first characteristic quantity calculator calculates a deviation of a histogram whose horizontal axis represents the value of the RGB data and whose vertical axis represents the number of the pixels from an average value of the RGB data of the standard photographed image as the first characteristic quantity.
15. A picture processing system according to claim 9, wherein the second characteristic quantity calculator calculates an average value of R data of the RGB data as the second characteristic quantity.
16. A picture processing system according to claim 9, wherein the density corrector applies the density correction by adding the density correction amount to the RGB data.
17. A picture image processing method, comprising:
a hue calculating step of calculating a hue for each pixel based on RGB data obtained by separating a photographed film image into color components of R, G and B and stored pixel by pixel in a storage portion;
a first sampling step of sampling the pixels having a hue corresponding to a skin color from the RGB data;
a first characteristic quantity calculating step of calculating a first characteristic quantity representing a characteristic of the RGB data of the pixels sampled in the first sampling step;
a second sampling step of sampling the pixels located in a central part of an image area;
a second characteristic quantity calculating step of calculating a second characteristic quantity representing a characteristic of the RGB data of the pixels sampled in the second sampling step;
a density correction amount calculating step of calculating a density correction amount using the first and second characteristic quantities; and
a density correcting step of applying a density correction to the RGB data using the calculated density correction amount.

1. An editing apparatus comprising:
a story determination unit determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
an evaluation value calculation unit calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the story determined in the story determination unit and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
an image selection unit selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the evaluation value calculation unit;
a candidate image correction unit correcting the selected candidate image based on the evaluation value; and
an edit processing unit linking the image selected per selection time and the candidate image corrected based on the evaluation value, in chronological order.
2. The editing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the candidate image correction unit corrects the selected candidate image in a case where the evaluation value is equal to or less than a predetermined value.
3. The editing apparatus according to claim 2, wherein the candidate image correction unit corrects the selected candidate image in a manner that the evaluation value is equal to or less than a predetermined value.
4. The editing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the candidate image correction unit corrects a magnifying power of the selected candidate image in a manner that the evaluation value is equal to or less than a predetermined value.
5. The editing apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the candidate image correction unit corrects a photographing time of the selected candidate image in a manner that the evaluation value is equal to or less than a predetermined value.
6. An editing apparatus comprising:
a story determination unit determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
an evaluation value calculation unit calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the story determined in the story determination unit and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
an image selection unit selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the evaluation value calculation unit;
a story correction unit correcting the story based on the evaluation value; and
an edit processing unit linking the image selected per selection time in chronological order.
7. The editing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the story correction unit corrects the story in a case where the evaluation value is equal to or less than a predetermined value.
8. The editing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the story correction unit corrects the story based on a user operation.
9. The editing apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the story correction unit corrects the story in a manner that the evaluation value is equal to or less than a predetermined value.
10. The editing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the evaluation value calculation unit calculates, per selection time, a distance based on a feature value of the candidate image and an expectation value of the feature value of the candidate image as the evaluation value.
11. The editing apparatus according to claim 10, wherein the image selection unit selects a candidate image in which the evaluation value per selection time is minimum, per selection time.
12. The editing apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:
an image evaluation unit setting the feature value with respect to the candidate image, based on the candidate image.
13. The editing apparatus according to claim 12, wherein, in a case where the candidate image is a moving image having a reproduction time over a predetermined time, the image evaluation unit divides the candidate image in a manner that the reproduction time falls within the predetermined time, and sets the feature value to each of the divided candidate images.
14. The editing apparatus according to claim 1, where the story is indicated by a time function using a feature value indicating a feature amount of an image.
15. An editing method comprising:
determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the story determined in the determination step and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the calculation step;
correcting the selected candidate image based on the evaluation value; and
linking the image selected per selection time and the candidate image corrected based on the evaluation value, in chronological order.
16. An editing method comprising:
determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the story determined in the determination step and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the calculation step;
correcting the story based on the evaluation value; and
linking the image selected per selection time in chronological order.
17. A program for causing a computer to function as:
a unit determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
a unit calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the story determined in the determination step and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
a unit selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the calculation step;
a unit correcting the selected candidate image based on the evaluation value; and
a unit linking the image selected per selection time and the candidate image corrected based on the evaluation value, in chronological order.
18. A program for causing a computer to function as:
a unit determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
a unit calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the story determined in the determination step and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
a unit selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the calculation step;
a unit correcting the story based on the evaluation value; and
a unit linking the image selected per selection time in chronological order.
19. A computer-readable recording medium having a program recorded thereon, the program causing a computer to function as:
a unit determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
a unit calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the determined story and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
a unit selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the calculation step;
a unit correcting the selected candidate image based on the evaluation value; and
a unit linking the image selected per selection time and the candidate image corrected based on the evaluation value, in chronological order.
20. A computer-readable recording medium having a program recorded thereon, the program causing a computer to function as:
a unit determining a story indicated by a time function as a reference to select an image from multiple candidate images;
a unit calculating an evaluation value of each of the candidate images per selection time in the story, based on the determined story and one or more feature values which are set for each of the multiple candidate images and indicate features of the candidate images;
a unit selecting an image per selection time from the candidate images, based on the evaluation value calculated in the calculation step;
a unit correcting the story based on the evaluation value; and

1. A modular furniture system comprising:
a piece of furniture having a joint comprising:
a first bendable panel
two tabs extending from an edge of the first panel;
a second panel;
two slots formed in the second panel;
wherein the tabs are inserted into the slots to assemble the joint and wherein the slots of the second panel are arranged so that the first panel is maintained in a bent configuration after the tabs of the first panel are inserted into the slots of the second panel.
2. A modular furniture system comprising:
a piece of furniture having a joint comprising:
a first panel, the first panel having at least one tab;
a second bendable panel;
at least one slot formed in the second panel;
wherein the at least one tab is inserted into the at least one slot and extends around the second panel, wherein the first panel has a projection extending outwardly from an edge of the panel, and wherein the second panel is maintained in a bent configuration by the at least one tab and projection.
3. The system of claim 1, wherein the slots are disposed in misalignment with the tabs such that the tabs are twisted after they are fully inserted into the slots.
4. The system of claim 3, wherein at least one of the slots is disposed at an angle relative to a line drawn between centers of the slots.
5. The system of claim 3, wherein at least one of the tabs is twisted relative to a line drawn between centers of the tabs.
6. The system of claim 3, wherein there are three tabs and three slots and wherein one of the slots is offset from a line drawn between centers of the other two slots.
7. The system of claim 3, wherein a tab has a recess formed in a side thereof to create a section of the tab which is thinner than a surrounding section of the tab, wherein a corresponding slot has a wider section and a narrowed section extending therefrom, and wherein the tab is passed through the wider section of the slot transversely and then slid longitudinally into engagement with the narrowed section such that the recess engages the narrowed section.
8. The system of claim 7, wherein the recess does not extend to a distal end of the tab.
9. The system of claim 3, wherein the first panel and second panel are generally flat before assembly.
10. A modular furniture system comprising:
a piece of furniture having a joint, the joint comprising:
a first furniture member having a first slot and a second slot formed therein;
a second bendable planar furniture member having a first tab and a second tab formed therein;
wherein the first tab and second tab are inserted into the first and second slots respectively, and wherein the first slot and the second slot are arranged such that insertion of the first and second tabs bends the second furniture member to place the joint under stress, and wherein the second bendable furniture member remains bent when the first and second tabs are inserted into the first and second slots.
11. The system of claim 10, wherein the first slot comprises a wider portion and a narrower portion extending from the wider portion along the length of the slot, and wherein the tab may be inserted into the wider portion without bending the second furniture member, and wherein sliding the tab into engagement with the narrower portion twists the tab out of a plane of the second furniture member and bends the second furniture member.
12. The system of claim 11, wherein the first tab has a recess formed in face thereof such that the tab is a smaller adjacent the panel and a larger away from the panel, and wherein the recess engages the narrower portion of the slot to prevent the tab from being extracted transversely from the slot.
13. The system of claim 10, wherein at least one of the first and second slots is disposed at an angle relative to a line drawn between centers of the slots.
14. The system of claim 10, wherein at least one of the first and second tabs is twisted relative to a line drawn between centers of the tabs.
15. The system of claim 10, wherein the second furniture member is elastically bent out of plane when the furniture is assembled.
16. A modular furniture system comprising:
a plurality of rigid planer furniture members adapted to be assembled to form piece of furniture; and
a strap disposed diagonally between said furniture members to stabilize the piece of furniture,
wherein a furniture member has a strap slot formed therein and wherein the strap has a plate disposed at an end thereof, the plate being rotatable parallel to the strap to pass through the strap slot and then rotatable perpendicular to the strap slot to secure the strap into the slot.
17. The system of claim 16, wherein a first furniture member has two tabs formed on an end thereof, wherein a second furniture member has two slots formed therein, wherein the tabs are inserted into the slots, and wherein the tabs are twisted by the slots to hold the first furniture member in a bent position when fully assembled with the second furniture member.

a web system services interface, for invoking web system services to support web applications to operate over the web using different devices that store data and context of web applications as a web application document onto a web server;
an application operating on a client device connected to the network for processing application data;
a memory device storing a web application document having stored therein:
view information providing information about an organization structure determining presentation of the application to a user, wherein said view information is used to launch the application corresponding to an information type;
content from the application, wherein the content is formatted differently for each client device; and
context information, wherein each item of the context information belongs to a predefined context type for said application and wherein said context information has a scope declared according to a predefined schema;

wherein the content and context information is input by at least one of a plurality of applications operating on at least one of a plurality of client devices;
wherein each client device is associated with a single registered user authenticated via a web application server;
wherein said single registered user is the user of each client device;
a content loader operably coupled to the application operating on the client device for loading content and context information from the web application document as the application data processed by the application;
an inputoutput subsystem receiving a request to restore content and context information of a web application document from a client device different from the client device that stored the web application document; and
a processor device operably coupled with the memory performing steps of:
loading the view information from the web application document on the client device, wherein the view information provides information about an organization structure determining presentation of the application to the single registered user;
loading the context information from the web application document on the client device;
loading the content from the web application document as the application data processed by the application operating on the client device;
launching the application according to the view information; and
processing the application operating on the client device.
2. The system of claim 1 further comprising a web application server operably coupled to the application for providing web system services for restoring the content and context information of the web application document on the client device, wherein said client device is different from the client device that stored the web application document.
3. The system of claim 2 further comprising a storage operably coupled to the web system services for storing the web application document, said storage accessible by the client device over the network.
4. The system of claim 2 wherein the view information is stored as a set of strings within an item in a container.
5. A computer-readable storage medium having computer-executable components comprising the system of claim 1.
6. A computer-implemented method for processing application data for storage on a network, comprising:
invoking web system services to support web applications to operate over the web using different devices that store data and context of web applications as a web application document onto a web server;
receiving a request to restore content and context information of a web application document on a client device, said web application document comprising:
view information providing information about an organization structure determining presentation of an application to a user, wherein said view information is used to launch the application corresponding to an information type;
content from the application; and
context information, wherein each item of the context information belongs to a predefined context type for said application and wherein said context information has a scope declared according to a predefined schema;

wherein the content and context information is input by at least one of a plurality of applications operating on at least one of a plurality of client devices;
loading view information from the web application document on the client device, wherein the view information provides information about an organization structure determining presentation of the application to a user;
wherein said user is a single registered user authenticated via a web application server;
wherein said single registered user is the user of each client device;
loading the context information from the web application document on the client device;
loading the content from the web application document as the application data processed by the application operating on the client device, wherein the content is formatted differently for each client device;
launching the application according to the view information; and
processing the application operating on the client device.
7. The method of claim 6 further comprising parsing the web application document to determine the view information to load on the client device.
8. The method of claim 6 further comprising determining the view information to load on the client device from the web application document.
9. The method of claim 6 further comprising parsing the web application document to determine the content to load on the client device as the application data.
10. The method of claim 6 further comprising determining the content to load on the client device as the application data.
11. The method of claim 6 further comprising parsing the web application document to determine the context information to load on the client device.
12. The method of claim 6 further comprising determining the context information to load on the client device from the web application document.
13. The method of claim 6 wherein loading the content from the web application document comprises loading content components from a container representing the web application document.
14. The method of claim 6 wherein loading the context information from the web application document comprises loading context components from a container representing the web application document.
15. The method of claim 6 wherein receiving the request to restore content and context information of the web application document on the client device comprises receiving a request for performing a web system service for restoring the web application document from a web server.
16. The method of claim 6 further comprising storing the application data processed by the application operating on the client device as a modified web application document on the web server.
