1. An apparatus for c scheduling in a communication system including a plurality of sub-carriers spanning an operating frequency band, the apparatus comprising:
a channel estimator configured to determine a channel estimate corresponding to each of a plurality of segments spanning the operating frequency band based on the pilot signal, each of the segments having a bandwidth less than a total bandwidth;
a signal mapper configured to map data symbols to a subset of the plurality of sub-carriers in the communication system; and
a scheduler coupled to the channel estimator and configured to determine
a first preferred segment based on the channel estimates, select the subset of the plurality of sub-carriers from within the first preferred segment, and further configured to control the signal mapper to map the data symbols to the subset of the plurality of sub carriers.
2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a receiver module configured to receive reverse link pilot signals and wherein the scheduler is configured to select the subset of the plurality of sub-carriers for a forward link transmission based on the reverse link pilot signals.
3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the pilot signals comprise reverse link pilot signals and the scheduler is configured to generate a reverse link resource assignment message for transmission to a user terminal based on the channel estimates.
4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the scheduler is configured to select the first preferred segment as a segment having a largest signal to noise ratio determined from the pilot signals.
5. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising:
a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) receiver coupled to the receiver module and configured to process channel characteristic reporting messages received by the receiver to determine a second preferred segment and further configured to generate a resource assignment message based on the channel characteristic reporting messages.
6. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a frequency hopper module configured to enforce a frequency hopping scheme within the first preferred segment.

1. An electrical switch comprising:
a casing;
first and second fixed contacts;
first and second moving contacts supported in the casing, independently moving between respective first and the second ON positions, respectively making contact with the first fixed contact and second fixed contact, and an OFF position with no contact between either of the first and second moving contacts and either of the first and second fixed contacts;
an operating member supported for movement in opposite directions relative to the casing, between a first position moving the first moving contact into the first ON position, a second position moving the first and second moving contacts into the OFF position, and a third position moving the second moving contact into the second ON position; and
a locking member, associated with the operating member, automatically locking the operating member in each of the first, second, and third positions, the locking member being releasable to unlock the operating member upon manual movement of the locking member in a direction different from directions of movement of the operating member between the first, second, and third positions.
2. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 1, wherein the locking member is supported by the operating member for movement with the operating member.
3. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 1, wherein the locking member is movable between an outer position farther from the first and second moving contacts, locking the operating member, and an inner position closer to the first and second moving contacts, unlocking the operating member.
4. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 3, wherein the operating member is pivotable about a first axis between the first, second, and third positions.
5. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 4, wherein the locking member has a U-shaped structure straddling, in a sliding fit, opposed lateral surfaces of the operating member, the lateral surfaces being transverse to the first axis.
6. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 4, wherein the locking member is movable along a second axis in locking and unlocking the operating member and the second axis is transverse to the first axis.
7. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 1, wherein the operating member and the locking member have respective portions exposed for manual operation, the portion of the locking member being located in the portion of the operating member.
8. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 7, wherein the portion of the operating member has a central recess within which the portion of the locking member is located.
9. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 8, wherein the portion of the locking member has a concave profile.
10. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 8, wherein the portion of the locking member has a convex profile.
11. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 8, wherein the portion of the locking member includes a grip-enhancing element.
12. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 8, wherein the portion of the locking member has a concave profile.
13. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 1, wherein the electrical switch is a rocker switch.
14. An electrical switch comprising:
a casing;
a base disposed within the casing;
a first fixed contact in the casing;
a first moving contact supported in the casing and moving between a first ON position, making contact with the first fixed contact, and an OFF position with no contact between the first moving contact and the first fixed contact;
an axle within casing;
an operating member pivotally mounted on the axle for pivoting in opposite directions relative to the casing, between a first position moving the first moving contact into the ON position and a second position moving the moving contact into the OFF position, wherein the base includes a finger having a periphery including at least two notches facing away from and radially arranged with respect to the axle;
a locking member associated with and slideably engaging the operating member for automatically locking the operating member in each of the first and second positions, the locking member being releasable to unlock the operating member upon movement of the locking member in a radial direction with respect to the axle, wherein the locking member includes
a body straddling and slideably engaging lateral surfaces of the operating member, on an opposite side of the axle from the base, and
an extension extending into the base and including a protrusion for selectively engaging each of the notches, for locking the operating member in each of the first and second positions; and

a spring biasing the body of the locking member outwardly from axle and the base wherein
movement of locking member against the bias of the spring, toward the base, displaces the protrusion from one of the notches and unlocks the operating member, and
release of the locking member so that the protrusion engages one of the notches locks the operating member.
15. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 14, wherein the operating member and the locking member have respective portions exposed for manual operation, the portion of the locking member being located in the portion of the operating member.
16. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 15, wherein the portion of the operating member has a central recess within which the portion of the locking member is located.
17. The electrical switch as claimed in claim 16, wherein the portion of the locking member has a convex profile.

1. A method for reconstructing an N-pixel image of a scene captured using a compressed sensing device, the method comprising:
receiving a mask identifying at least one region of interest (ROI) of size Q pixels in the scene;

partitioning said set of sampling functions into K non-overlapping and non-empty subsets of functions, each subset having Mi elements, where 1\u2266i\u2266K and M1+M2+ . . . +Mk=M;
arranging each resulting subset of functions in Mi\xd7N matrices \u03c61, \u03c62, . . . , \u03c6K, each matrix having at least Q linearly independent columns and at most N\u2212Q linearly dependent columns, an index of said linearly independent columns being associated with locations corresponding to said ROIs, and an index of said linearly dependent columns being associated with locations which do not correspond to said ROIs;

10. The method of claim 1, wherein said spatial light modulator comprises any of: a digital micromirror device, a transmissive liquid crystal, and reflective liquid crystal on silicon.

The method of claim 1, further comprising processing an image of said scene to identify said ROIs using any of: pixel classification, object identification, facial recognition, color, texture, spatial features, spectral information, pattern recognition, motion detection, foreground detection, and a user input.
12. The method of claim 1, further comprising processing an image of said scene to generate said mask wherein pixels associated with said ROI as being active and pixels outside said ROI as being inactive.
13. The method of claim 1, wherein said mask is updated in real-time in response to a location of any of said ROIs changing over time.
14. A compressed sensing system for reconstructing an N-pixel image of a scene captured using a compressed sensing device, the system comprising:
a mask identifying at least one Q-pixel region of interest (ROI) in a scene;
a spatial light modulator for modulating incoming light according to spatial patterns corresponding to a set of M sampling functions arranged in an M\xd7N matrix \u03c6={\u03c61, . . . , \u03c6M}, whose mth row vector \u03c6m\u03b5N denotes the mth N-dimensional sampling function, and where M<<N, said set of sampling functions being partitioned into K non-overlapping and non-empty subsets of functions, each subset having Mi elements, where 1\u2266i\u2266K and M1+M2+ . . . +Mk=M, each resulting subset of functions being arranged in Mi\xd7N matrices \u03c61, \u03c62, . . . , \u03c6K, each matrix having at least Q linearly independent columns and at most N\u2212Q linearly dependent columns, an index of said linearly independent columns being associated with locations corresponding to said ROIs, and an index of said linearly dependent columns being associated with locations which do not correspond to said ROIs;

1. A fuel cell system comprising:
a fuel cell including a fuel electrode and an oxidant electrode, each electrode having a catalyst and being arranged to sandwich an electrolyte membrane therebetween;
a secondary battery capable of being charged with electricity and discharging electricity;
a load electrically connected to the fuel cell and the secondary battery; and
an output supply part that supplies a power, a voltage or a current corresponding to any of a required power, a required voltage and a required current from the load by adjusting a power, a voltage or a current supplied from the fuel cell and a power, a voltage or a current supplied from the secondary battery,
wherein, if the required power, the required voltage or the required current has reached a boundary power, a boundary voltage or a boundary current, the boundary power, the boundary voltage and the boundary current being an oxidation-reduction power, an oxidation-reduction voltage and an oxidation-reduction current of the catalyst of the fuel cell, respectively, the output supply part performs crossover-avoidance control that holds an FC instruction power, an FC instruction voltage or an FC instruction current for the fuel cell at the boundary power, the boundary voltage or the boundary current, and absorbs a gap between the required power and the FC instruction power, a gap between the required voltage and the FC instruction voltage or a gap between the required current and the FC instruction current by way of power discharge from the secondary battery or power storage in the secondary battery, and
wherein, while performing the crossover-avoidance control, the output supply part sets a virtual required power obtained by introducing a time delay to the required power, a virtual required voltage obtained by introducing a time delay to the required voltage, or a virtual required current obtained by introducing a delay to the required current, and cancels the crossover-avoidance control if a power, a voltage or a current corresponding to the virtual required power, the virtual required voltage or the virtual required current has reached the boundary power, the boundary voltage or the boundary current.

3. The fuel cell system according to claim 1, wherein, while performing the crossover-avoidance control, the output supply part cancels the crossover-avoidance control if a remaining capacity for discharging or charging of the secondary battery exceeds a predetermined remaining capacity threshold.
4. The fuel cell system according to claim 3, wherein the output supply part changes the remaining capacity threshold according to a rate of variation of the required power, the required voltage or the required current.
5. The fuel cell system according to claim 1, wherein, while performing the crossover-avoidance control, the output supply part cancels the crossover-avoidance control if a rate of variation or a variation range of the required power, the required voltage or the required current exceeds a variation threshold.
