1. A computer system comprising:
a processor;
a first bus coupled to the processor;
a memory controller coupled to the first bus;
a memory coupled to the memory controller;
a first inputoutput (IO) controller coupled to the first bus; and
a test module coupled to the first IO controller;
wherein the test module is configured to cause tests to be performed on the memory using the first bus.
2. The computer system of claim 1 further comprising:
an operating system;
wherein the processor is configured to cause the operating system to be booted, and wherein the test module is configured to cause the tests to be performed on the memory using the first bus subsequent to the operating system being booted.
3. The computer system of claim 1 further comprising:
an operating system;
wherein the processor is configured to cause the operating system to be executed, and wherein the test module is configured to cause the tests to be performed on the memory using the first bus during execution of the operating system.
4. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the first bus comprises a system bus.
5. The computer system of claim 1 further comprising:
a second IO controller coupled to the first bus;
a second bus coupled to the second IO controller; and
a device coupled to the second bus.
6. The computer system of claim 1 wherein the test module is configured to cause tests to be performed on the memory using the first bus by providing read and write transactions to the first IO controller.
7. The computer system of claim 6 wherein the read and write transactions comprise direct memory access (DMA) transactions.
8. The computer system of claim 1 further comprising:
a bus bridge coupled to the first bus and the first IO controller.
9. A method performed by a computer system that includes a memory comprising:
selecting a portion of the memory for testing during operation of the computer system;
generating a test transaction in a test module coupled to an inputoutput (IO) controller; and
providing the test transaction to the portion using direct memory access (DMA).
10. The method of claim 9 further comprising:
detecting an error that occurs in response to the test transaction; and
performing a remedial action in response to detecting the error.
11. The method of claim 9 further comprising:
providing the test transaction from the test module to the IO controller;
providing the test transaction from the IO controller to a bus bridge;
providing the test transaction from the bus bridge to a system bus;
providing the test transaction from the system bus to a memory controller; and
providing the test transaction from the memory controller to the portion.
12. The method of claim 11 further comprising:
storing information in the memory in response to the test transaction being a write transaction.
13. The method of claim 11 further comprising:
in response to the test transaction being a read transaction:
providing information associated with the test transaction from the portion to the memory controller;
providing the information from the memory controller to the system bus;
providing the information from the system bus to the bus bridge;
providing the information from the bus bridge to the IO controller; and
providing the information from the IO controller to the test module.
14. The method of claim 9 further comprising:
providing the test transaction from the test module to the IO controller;
providing the test transaction from the IO controller to a system controller;
providing the test transaction from the system controller to a memory controller; and
providing the test transaction from the memory controller to the portion.
15. A computer system comprising:
a processor;
a bus coupled to the processor;
a system controller coupled to the bus;
a memory coupled to the system controller;
an input output (IO) controller coupled to the system controller; and
a test module coupled to the IO controller;
wherein the test module is configured to cause tests to be performed on the memory using direct memory access (DMA).
16. The computer system of claim 15 further comprising:
an operating system;
wherein the processor is configured to cause the operating system to be booted, and wherein the test module is configured to cause the tests to be performed on the memory using DMA subsequent to the operating system being booted.
17. The computer system of claim 15 further comprising:
an operating system;
wherein the processor is configured to cause the operating system to be executed, and wherein the test module is configured to cause the tests to be performed on the memory using DMA during execution of the operating system.
18. The computer system of claim 15 wherein the bus comprises a system bus.
19. The computer system of claim 15 wherein the test module is configured to cause tests to be performed on the memory using DMA by providing read and write transactions to the IO controller.
20. The computer system of claim 19 wherein the read and write transactions comprise direct memory access (DMA) transactions.

A method of reducing mortality and morbidity after myocardial infarction, comprising administering to a patient in need thereof, a compound selected from the group consisting of GLP-1, GLP-1 analogs, GLP-1 derivatives, and pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof, at a dose effective to normalize blood glucose.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound is administered intravenously.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein the compound is administered subcutaneously.
4. The method of claims 2 or 3, wherein the administration is continuous.
5. The method of claim 4 wherein the rate of administration of the compound is between 0.25 and 6 pmolkgh.
6. The method of claim 5 wherein the rate of administration of the compound is between 0.6 and 2.4 pmolkgh.
7. The method of claims 2 or 3 wherein the intravenous administration is intermittent.
8. The method of claim 2 wherein the compound is administered intravenously and also administered by another parenteral route.
9. The method of claim 8 wherein the other parenteral route is the subcutaneous route.
10. The method of claim 1 wherein the compound administered is GLP(7-36) amide, or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof.
11. A method of reducing morbidity and mortality after myocardial infarction, comprising, administering a compound that exerts insulinotropic activity by interacting with the same receptor, or receptors, with which GLP-1, GLP-1 analogs, and GLP-1 derivatives interact in exerting their insulinotropic activity.
12. A method of reducing morbidity and mortality after myocardial infarction, comprising, administering a compound that enhances insulin sensitivity by interacting with the same receptor, or receptors, with which GLP-1, GLP-1 analogs, and GLP-1 derivatives interact to enhance insulin sensitivity.

14. An apparatus for a marine vessel comprising:
an intake housing;
an impeller housing;
a diffuserconfuser housing;
a discharge housing;
a steering nozzle, and
a plurality of internal housing components,
the intake housing, the impeller housing, the diffuserconfuser housing, the discharge housing and the steering nozzle creating a flow path for a water stream on a volumetric basis, the flow path having a length and an axial cross-sectional area, the axial cross-sectional area of the flow path being varied throughout the length to accommodate a volumetric mass of the plurality of the internal housing components while maintaining a regularly decreasing water volume from the inlet housing to the discharge housing, the flow path reducing turbulence and enhancing a solid state character of efflux for the water stream.
15. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 wherein the plurality of internal housing components include impeller blades, diffusorconfusor vanes, flow straightener vanes, a drive shaft and a steering shaft with positioning vanes.
16. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 further comprising:
an increased radius, the increased radius being introduced at a transition point between the diffuserconfuser housing and the steering nozzle thereby allowing for a less angular transition from the diffuserconfuser housing to an upper portion of the steering nozzle.
17. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 further comprising:
an exhaust housing, the exhaust housing being an external housing surrounding the impeller housing, the diffusor housing, an upper portion of the discharge housing and a lower portion of the steering nozzle, the exhaust housing directing exhaust from a power source thereby imparting residual heat from the power source to the impeller housing, the diffusor housing, the discharge housing and the steering nozzle.
18. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 wherein the steering nozzle is interchangeable to enable adjustments to the steering nozzle.
19. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 wherein the steering nozzle includes a retractable tracking vane, the retractable tracking vane maintaining the steering nozzle in straight position when the marine vessel is in motion.
20. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 further comprising:
intake straightener vanes, the intake straightener vanes being positioned on either side of the intake housing, the intake straightener vanes directing the water stream from an intake entrance to the impeller housing.
21. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 14 further comprising:
an interchangeable efflux nozzle, the interchangeable efflux nozzle being removably attached to an end of the steering nozzle, the interchangeable efflux nozzle having an entrance diameter to exit diameter ratio proportioned to a required volumetric velocity ratio adjustment needed to fine tune a required efflux.
22. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 21 further comprising:
interchangeable efflux nozzle straightener vanes, the interchangeable efflux nozzle straightener vanes being positioned around an interior of the interchangeable efflux nozzle thereby controlling the water stream through a radius of the steering nozzle.
23. An apparatus for a marine vessel comprising:
an impeller section, the impeller section having a first hub portion and a plurality of impeller blades, each of the plurality of impeller blades being removably fixed along an outwardly tapered convex surface of the first hub portion.
24. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 23 wherein the outwardly tapered convex surface of the first hub portion includes a blade retainer for affixing the impeller blades to the first hub portion.
25. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 23 wherein the impeller blades include a convex outer surface, a concave inner surface, a short trailing edge, a long leading edge and broad surface sides having a midpoint and a thickness allowing for maximum exposure to a passing fluid.
26. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 23 further comprising:
diffuserconfuser blades; and
a blade width extension, the blade width extension extending the impeller blades beyond a required pitch thereby enhancing a pitch effect of the impeller blades while stabilizing a flow off a back of the impeller blades in preparation for pick-up by leading edges of diffuserconfuser blades, the diffuserconfuser blades designed to receive a flow at varying accelerated velocities off the blade width extension.
27. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 23 further comprising:
a diffusorconfusor section, the diffusorconfusor section having a second hub portion and a plurality of diffusor vanes, each of the plurality of diffusor vanes being removably fixed to a contoured surface of the second hub portion.
28. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 23 further comprising:
an intake housing;
an impeller housing, the impeller section including the impeller housing;
a diffuserconfuser housing;
a discharge housing;
a steering nozzle, and
a plurality of internal housing components,
the intake housing, the impeller housing, the diffuserconfuser housing, the discharge housing and the steering nozzle creating a flow path for a water stream on a volumetric basis, the flow path having a length and an axial cross-sectional area, the axial cross-sectional area of the flow path being varied throughout the length to accommodate a volumetric mass of the plurality of the internal housing components while maintaining a regularly decreasing water volume from the inlet housing to the discharge housing, the flow path reducing turbulence and enhancing a solid state character of efflux for the water stream.
29. An apparatus for a marine vessel comprising:
an impeller section, the impeller section having a hub portion, a plurality of impeller blades and a blade width extension, the blade width extension extending the impeller blades beyond a required pitch thereby enhancing a pitch effect of the impeller blades, the blade width extension stabilizing a through flow off a back of the blade width extension to enhance a solid state characteristic of the through flow.
30. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 29 further comprising:
an intake housing;
an impeller housing, the impeller section including the impeller housing;
a diffuserconfuser housing;
a discharge housing;
a steering nozzle; and
a plurality of internal housing components,
the intake housing, the impeller housing, the diffuserconfuser housing, the discharge housing and the steering nozzle creating a flow path for a water stream on a volumetric basis, the flow path having a length and an axial cross-sectional area, the axial cross-sectional area of the flow path being varied throughout the length to accommodate a volumetric mass of the plurality of the internal housing components while maintaining a regularly decreasing water volume from the inlet housing to the discharge housing, the flow path reducing turbulence and enhancing a solid state character of efflux for the water stream.
31. An apparatus for a marine vessel comprising:
an impeller section, the impeller section having a hub portion and a plurality of impeller blades, the plurality of impeller blades having a trailing edge and an exit angle; and
a diffusorconfusor section, the diffusorconfusor section having a hub portion and a plurality of removable and interchangeable diffusor vanes, the plurality of diffusor vanes having a leading edge and an entry angle, the exit angle of the trailing edge of the impeller blades corresponding to the entry angle of the leading edge of the diffusor vanes allowing for a less turbulent water flow transition from the impeller blades to the diffusor vanes enhancing a solid state character of the water stream.
32. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 31 wherein the diffusor vanes are airfoil shaped with an increased radius to support a less angular transition of a flow off a back of the impeller blades thereby reducing turbulence and enhancing a solid state character of the water stream.
33. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 31 wherein the diffusor vanes includes a first portion and an edge side, the first portion having a uniform thickness throughout, and the edge side being blunted or sharpened and being of a different thickness from the first portion.
34. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 31 further comprising:
an intake housing;
an impeller housing, the impeller section including the impeller housing;
a diffuserconfuser housing;
a discharge housing;
a steering nozzle, and
a plurality of internal housing components,
the intake housing, the impeller housing, the diffuserconfuser housing, the discharge housing and the steering nozzle creating a flow path for a water stream on a volumetric basis, the flow path having a length and an axial cross-sectional area, the axial cross-sectional area of the flow path being varied throughout the length to accommodate a volumetric mass of the plurality of the internal housing components while maintaining a regularly decreasing water volume from the inlet housing to the discharge housing, the flow path reducing turbulence and enhancing a solid state character of efflux for the water stream.
35. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 31 further comprising:
an increased radius, the increased radius being introduced at a transition point between the diffuserconfuser and a steering control nozzle assembly thereby allowing for a less turbulent water flow angular transition from the diffuserconfuser to an upper portion of the steering nozzle.
36. An apparatus for a marine vessel comprising:
a diffusorconfuser housing;
a discharge housing;
a steering nozzle; and
a hydraulic trim, the hydraulic trim being aligned between the diffusor housing and an upper portion of the steering nozzle outlet housing, the hydraulic trim including hydraulic ball joints for allowing an up and down trimming of the marine vessel.
37. The apparatus for a marine vessel of claim 36 further comprising:
an intake housing;
an impeller housing, the impeller section including the impeller housing; and
a plurality of internal housing components,
the intake housing, the impeller housing, the diffuserconfuser housing, the discharge housing and the steering nozzle creating a flow path for a water stream on a volumetric basis, the flow path having a length and an axial cross-sectional area, the axial cross-sectional area of the flow path being varied throughout the length to accommodate a volumetric mass of the plurality of the internal housing components while maintaining a regularly decreasing water volume from the inlet housing to the discharge housing, the flow path reducing turbulence and enhancing a solid state character of efflux for the water stream.

1. A medical operation device including:
a rotary cylinder that includes an insertion portion inserting hole through which an insertion portion of a medical instrument for observation is inserted, the rotary cylinder being rotatably provided on a device main body;
an insertion portion pressing member that presses the insertion portion of the medical instrument for observation which is inserted through the insertion portion inserting hole, to thereby pressingly fix the insertion portion with respect to the rotary cylinder, the insertion portion pressing member being provided inside the rotary cylinder;
an insertion portion mounting section cover that is provided inside the insertion portion inserting hole and that prevents the insertion portion which is inserted through the insertion portion inserting hole from directly touching an inner face of the insertion portion inserting hole, a vicinity of an opening of the insertion portion inserting hole, and the insertion portion pressing member; and
a switching instruction portion that switches whether or not the insertion portion pressing member presses an outer surface of the insertion portion via the insertion portion mounting section cover and specifies a state in which the insertion portion is fixed to the rotary cylinder and a state in which the insertion portion moves forwardrearward with respect to the rotary cylinder,
wherein the insertion portion mounting section cover includes:
an inserting hole inner surface covering portion that covers a whole inner circumference of the insertion portion inserting hole and also an insertion portion pressing portion of the insertion portion pressing member, and has a through hole through which the insertion portion can be inserted;
a rotary portion side surface covering portion that is provided on at least one end side of the inserting hole inner surface covering portion and that covers a side surface of the rotary cylinder in which an opening of the insertion portion inserting hole is formed; and
a fixing portion that fixes the rotary portion side surface covering portion to the rotary cylinder.
2. The medical operation device according to claim 1, further including a rotation mechanism that rotates the rotary cylinder for performing a twisting operation in the state in which the insertion portion is fixed to the rotary cylinder by being pressed by the insertion portion pressing member.
3. The medical operation device according to claim 2, wherein when the device main body is rotated relative to the rotary cylinder by the rotation mechanism, the rotary cylinder appears not to be rotating as observed from a viewpoint of an operator.
4. The medical operation device according to claim 1, wherein the insertion portion mounting section cover is formed by a member having flexibility.
5. The medical operation device according to claim 1, wherein the inserting hole inner surface covering portion of the insertion portion mounting section cover is a member in a pipe shape that has flexibility and the rotary portion side surface covering portion is a member in a flange shape having flexibility, and wherein the flexibility of the inserting hole inner surface covering portion is greater than the flexibility of the rotary portion side surface covering portion.
6. The medical operation device according to claim 1, wherein the inserting hole inner surface covering portion of the insertion portion mounting section cover can be pushed into the insertion portion inserting hole and has a flexibility that is capable of conveying a pressing force of the insertion portion pressing member.
