1. A device for testing the accuracy of torque wrenches, said device comprising:
a. a base unit comprising a first mounting means and a second mounting means, said mounting means suitable for mounting a torque wrench of known calibration, said torque wrench comprising a head modified to receive the male socket of a torque wrench to be tested and a scale;
b. said base unit having a means for mounting said base unit to a suitable surface.
2. The device of claim 1, wherein said means for securing said torque wrench to said base unit comprises i) a ring mounted substantially perpendicularly to said base unit, said ring positioned and sized to receive the lever arm of said torque wrench of known calibration; and, ii) a hollow cylinder for receiving the head of the torque wrench of known calibration comprising a center area and a wall, said cylinder mounted to said base unit such that the axis of said cylinder is substantially perpendicular to said base unit and said cylinder has a portion of the wall of said cylinder removed thereby creating a recess in the wall of said cylinder for positioning the lever arm the torque wrench of known calibration and a grove in the outer wall of said cylinder, said grove being substantially parallel to said base unit, said grove being capable of receiving a ring and said grove positioned such that when said ring is placed in said grove, said ring prevents said torque wrench of known calibration from being removed from said cylinder.
3. The device of claim 1, wherein said means for mounting said base unit is selected from a group consisting of bolts, nuts, welding, screws, nails and adhesives.
4. The device of claim 1, wherein said scale is in foot pounds and reads from about 50 to 100 foot pounds in 10-pound increments.
5. The device of claim 1, wherein said scale is in foot pounds and reads from about 50 to 100 foot pounds in 5-pound increments.
6. The device of claim 1, wherein said torque wrench of known calibration is a beam-type torque wrench.
7. The device of claim 1, wherein said torque wrench of known calibration is calibrated with a stress tester.
8. The device of claim 1, wherein said base unit is comprised of metal or metal alloys.
9. A method of testing the calibration of torque wrenches, said method comprising:
a. placing the male socket of a torque wrench to be tested, said torque wrench to be tested comprising a scale, into the female socket of a torque wrench of known calibration, said torque wrench of known calibration mounted securely to a base unit;
b. applying pressure to the torque wrench to be tested;
c. reading the scales of the torque wrench to be test and the torque wrench of known calibration; and,
d. comparing the readings wherein a difference of greater than 5% between the reading on the torque wrench of known calibration and the torque wrench to be tested indicates that the torque wrench to be tested is out of calibration.
10. The method of claim 9, wherein a difference of greater than 2% between the reading on the torque wrench of known calibration and the torque wrench to be tested indicates that the torque wrench to be tested is out of calibration.
11. The method of claim 9, wherein a difference of greater than 1% between the reading on the torque wrench of known calibration and the torque wrench to be tested indicates that the torque wrench to be tested is out of calibration.
12. A method of testing the calibration of torque wrenches, said method comprising:
a. placing the male socket of a torque wrench to be tested into the female socket of the torque wrench of known calibration of the device of claim 1;
b. applying pressure to the torque wrench to be tested;
c. reading the scales of the torque wrench to be test and the torque wrench of known calibration; and,
d. comparing the readings wherein a difference of greater than 5% between the reading on the torque wrench of known calibration and the torque wrench to be tested indicates that the torque wrench to be tested is out of calibration.
13. The method of claim 12, wherein a difference of greater than 2% between the reading on the torque wrench of known calibration and the torque wrench to be tested indicates that the torque wrench to be tested is out of calibration.
14. The method of claim 12, wherein a difference of greater than 1% between the reading on the torque wrench of known calibration and the torque wrench to be tested indicates that the torque wrench to be tested is out of calibration.

1. A method, performed by computing functionality, for assisting a user in producing a drawing comprising:
receiving ink strokes in response to creation of an original drawing;
recognizing components within the original drawing;
recognizing constraints associated with the components that have been recognized, the components and the constraints yielding a recognized drawing;
storing the components and the constraints in a data store;
revising at least one aspect of the recognized drawing in accordance with the constraints to produce a beautified drawing;
identifying a transformation between each pair of objects in the beautified drawing to produce transformation information, wherein the transformation is based on intercept information;
identifying one or more predominant transformations in the transformation information that correspond to a predominant recurring pattern in the beautified drawing;
adding an additional component in the beautified drawing based on the predominant recurring pattern; and
providing an output drawing which is based on the beautified drawing.
2. The method of claim 1, wherein the components include at least one of:
one or more lines; and
one or more circles.
3. The method of claim 1, wherein each of said recognizing of components and said recognizing of constraints is based on at least one data store of rules that is both extensible and customizable.
4. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one constraint expresses a relationship between at least two components.
5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:
displaying information regarding the constraints; and
receiving at least one modification to the constraints from a user, to provide at least one explicit constraint.
6. The method of claim 1, further comprising recognizing a marking that appears in the original drawing, the marking being associated with at least one explicit constraint.
7. The method of claim 1, wherein identifying one or more predominant transformations comprises using a voting technique to identify one or more predominant transformations in the transformation information.
8. The method of claim 1, wherein said producing of the beautified drawing comprises parsing the components into a set of unresolved sub-components, each component being made up of two or more unresolved sub-components.
9. The method of claim 8, wherein said producing the beautified drawing further comprises iteratively performing operations of:
determining whether an unresolved sub-component selected from the set of unresolved sub-components can be resolved based on a set of previously resolved sub-components, the constraints, and a data store of rules; and
if the unresolved sub-component can be resolved, producing a corresponding resolved sub-component and adding the resolved sub-component to the set of previously resolved sub-components.
10. The method of claim 9, wherein, if an unresolved sub-component cannot be found that is able to be resolved, further comprising:
identifying an unresolved sub-component that is deemed most appropriate for resolution, to provide a selected sub-component, the selected sub-component being associated with a parent component that is assessed as being most appropriate for resolution; and
resolving the selected sub-component by making reference to drawing information in the original drawing, and updating the set of resolved sub-components based on said resolving of the selected sub-component.
11. The method of claim 10, wherein said identifying employs a ranking function that assigns a rank to each unresolved candidate sub-component based on: a weight assigned to a type of the candidate sub-component; a canonical order of a parent component to which the candidate sub-component belongs; and a weighted ratio of a number of resolved sub-components associated with the parent component to which the candidate sub-component belongs.
12. The method of claim 1, further comprising requesting user input to guide application of the predominant recurring pattern in the beautified drawing.
13. The method of claim 12, wherein adding an additional component in the beautified drawing comprises adding an additional component in the beautified drawing based on the predominant recurring pattern and the user input.
14. The method of claim 13, wherein each pair of objects comprises a pair of sub-components in the beautified drawing.
15. The method of claim 13, wherein said at least one prevalent transformation corresponds to two or more prevalent transformations.
16. The method of claim 13, wherein the transformation between each pair of objects is an affine transformation.
17. A device comprising:
a processor; and
executable instructions operable by the processor, the executable instructions comprising a method for assisting a user in producing a drawing, the method comprising:
receiving ink strokes in response to creation of an original drawing;
recognizing components and constraints within the original drawing, the components and the constraints yielding a recognized drawing;
decomposing each component in the recognized drawing into two or more sub-components;
successively resolving unresolved sub-components in the recognized drawing to produce a beautified drawing;
identifying transformations between different pairs of sub-components in the beautified drawing to produce transformation information, wherein the transformations are based on slope information;
identifying one or more predominant transformations in the transformation information that correspond to a predominant recurring pattern in the beautified drawing; and
adding at least one additional component to the beautified drawing based on the predominant recurring pattern.
18. The device of claim 17, wherein successively resolving unresolved sub-components in the recognized drawing comprises ranking the unresolved sub-components and successively selecting the unresolved sub-components for resolution based on the rankings.
19. A method, performed by computing functionality, for assisting a user in producing a drawing comprising:
receiving ink strokes in response to creation of an original drawing;
recognizing components and constraints within the original drawing, the components and the constraints yielding a recognized drawing;
decomposing each component in the recognized drawing into two or more sub-components;
ranking unresolved sub-components in the recognized drawing;
selecting one or more unresolved sub-components for resolution based on the rankings;
resolving the selected sub-components in the recognized drawing to produce a beautified drawing;
identifying transformations between different pairs of sub-components in the beautified drawing to produce transformation information, wherein the transformations are based on intercept information;
identifying one or more predominant transformations in the transformation information that correspond to a predominant recurring pattern in the beautified drawing; and
adding at least one additional component to the beautified drawing based on the predominant recurring pattern.
20. The method of claim 19, wherein identifying one or more predominant transformations comprises using a voting technique to identify one or more predominant transformations in the transformation information.

We claim:

1. A method of treating thrombosis in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a pharmaceutical composition that inhibits thrombosis in the mammal, wherein the pharmaceutical composition contains a therapeutically-effective amount of a small organic compound that is potent and selective for inhibiting Factor XIa so that the differential rate of percent inhibition of thrombosis in the mammal is greater than the differential rate of percent increase in bleeding time.
2. The method of claim 1, in which the differential rate of percent inhibition of thrombosis weight in the mammal is at least 50% while the differential rate of percent increase in bleeding time is not increased or just measurably increased by less than 30%.
3. The method of claim 1, in which the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 10 nM.
4. The method of claim 1, in which the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 6 nM.
5. The method of claim 1, in which the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 3 nM.
6. The method of claim 1, in which the small organic compound is highly selective for inhibiting Factor XIa.
7. A method of treating thrombosis in a mammal comprising administration of a small organic compound to the mammal having sufficient selectivity and potency for inhibition of Factor XIa, wherein the administration of the small molecule inhibits thrombosis in the mammal with no substantial effect on bleeding times in the mammal.
8. The method of claim 7, in which the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 6 nM.
9. The method of claim 7, in which the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 3 nM.
10. The method of claim 7, in which the small organic compound is highly selective for inhibiting Factor XIa.
11. A method of inhibiting Factor XIa in a mammal by administration of a small organic compound with an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 120 nM.
12. The method of claim 11, wherein the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 10 nM.
13. The method of claim 11, wherein the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 6 nM.
14. The method of claim 11, wherein the small organic compound has an IC50 for inhibiting Factor XIa of less than 1 nM.
15. A method of inhibiting Factor XIa in a mammal by administration of a small organic compound having the formula (I):

An air pump, comprising a cylinder with a non-circular configuration in a cross section, a bar having a handle and an adapter at opposite ends respectively, a piston having a configuration fitted with the cylinder and connected to the adapter, a nozzle communicated with the cylinder and a pivot provided between the handle and the bar or between the bar and the piston, such that the handle is free for rotation relative to the cylinder.
2. The air pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the pivot is between the bar and the adapter having a C-shaped lock ring and a post on the bar and the adapter respectively, which the post has an annular slot to be engaged with the lock ring, such that the bar is connected to the adapter and free for rotation.
3. The air pump as defined in claim 2, wherein the post has a threaded bore at an end thereof to be mated with the bar and the lock ring is bonded to a top of the adapter.
4. The air pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the pivot is between the bar and the adapter having a C-shaped lock ring and a post on the bar and the adapter respectively, which a space is left under the lock ring and the post has an annular slot to be engaged with the lock ring and a rim under the slot to be received in the space, such that the bar is connected to the adapter and free for rotation.
5. The air pump as defined in claim 4, wherein the post is bonded to the bar and the lock ring is bonded to a top of the adapter with the space between the adapter and the lock ring.
6. The air pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the adapter has a ring to be connected to the piston.
7. The air pump as defined in claim 1, wherein the adapter has a configuration fitted with the configuration of the cylinder.
