What is claimed is:

1. A vehicle rear lamp comprising:
a first light-emitting device emitting a red light; and
a second light-emitting device emitting a light which is different from the red light, wherein said first and second light-emitting devices are provided in a region for performing lamp indication.
2. A vehicle rear lamp according to claim 1, wherein said second light-emitting device emits either one of blue light and green light and
said first and second light-emitting devices are provided in a region for performing stop lamp indication.
3. A vehicle rear lamp according to claim 1, wherein said second light-emitting device emits a light in a wavelength range of from 450 nm to 540 nm.
4. A vehicle rear lamp according to claim 1, wherein said first light-emitting device is provided in an edge portion of said region for performing stop lamp indication.
5. A vehicle rear lamp according to claim 1, wherein light-emitting diodes are used as light sources for at least one of the first and second light-emitting devices.
6. A stop lamp indication method comprising emitting two of a red light and a light which is difference from the red light from a stop lamp indication region to thereby perform stop lamp indication.
7. A stop lamp indication method according to claim 6, wherein the light which is different from the red light is constituted by either one of blue light and green light are emitted.
8. A stop lamp indication method according to claim 6, wherein a first light-emitting device and a second light-emitting device are disposed in said stop lamp indication region so that said two of the lights are emitted from said first light-emitting device and said second light-emitting device respectively.
9. A stop lamp indication method according to claim 6, wherein said two of the lights are blinked.
10. A stop lamp indication method according to claim 9, wherein a lighting time of the light which is different from the red light is shorter than a lighting time of the red light.
11. A stop lamp indication method according to claim 6, wherein the red light is emitted continuously whereas the light which is different from the red light is blinked.
12. A vehicle lamp according to claim 1, wherein at least one of the first and second light emitting devices is provided with:
at least one short-wave LED; and
a lens including a fluorescent material which generates fluorescence when said fluorescent material receives light from said short-wave LED.
13. A vehicle lamp according to claim 12, wherein said short-wave LED exhibits a main emission peak wavelength in a wavelength range of not longer than 450 nm.
14. A vehicle lamp according to claim 12, wherein a layer containing said fluorescent material is formed on a surface of said lens.
15. A vehicle lamp according to claim 12, wherein said at least one of the first and second light-emitting device further includes a bulb.
16. A vehicle lamp according to claim 12, wherein said vehicle lamp is a rear combination lamp.
17. A vehicle lamp lens including a fluorescent material which generates fluorescence when said fluorescent material receives short-wave light.

1. A closure for a container; the closure being a single molded plastic unit and comprising in combination:
a base member constructed to close an open end of an associated container, the base member having at least one dispensing opening formed therein;
at least one flap joined to the base member at a hinge line along one edge of the base, the flap being positioned to close the dispensing opening, and when closed, having a front edge which is opposite to the hinge line;
a tear strip formed on an edge of the base opposite the hinge line and connected to the base by at least one frangible web, the tear strip hinging about the frangible web to a position overlying the front edge of the flap; and
at least one plastic weld for connecting the overlying edge of the tear strip to the flap to provide a tamper evident feature, wherein a central region of the closure being raised into a plateau portion having a top surface formed by the combination of the base and the at least one flap, the tear strip at least partially overlapping and welded to the top surface, wherein the tear strip has a non-hinged right angled bend configured to receive a bottom of an adjacent stacked container.
2. The closure of claim 1 wherein at least one of the at least one plastic weld connects the tear strip to a portion of the base member adjacent a flap front.
3. A closure for a container; the closure being a single molded plastic unit and comprising in combination:
a base member constructed to close an open end of an associated container, the base member having at least one dispensing opening formed therein;
at least one flap joined to the base member at a hinge line along one edge of the base, the flap being positioned to close the dispensing opening, and when closed, having a front edge which is opposite to the hinge line;
a tear strip formed on an edge of the base opposite the hinge line and connected to the base by at least one frangible web, the tear strip hinging about the frangible web to a position overlying the front edge of the flap; and
at least one plastic weld for connecting the overlying edge of the tear strip to the flap to provide a tamper evident feature, wherein at least one of the at least one frangible web of the tear strip has an upstanding shoulder connected to a horizontal ledge such that when the tear strip is sealed over the at least one flap, the tear strip presents a stacking shoulder.
4. The closure of claim 1 wherein a projection defines the position of the at least one plastic weld, and the at least one plastic weld is an ultrasonic weld.
5. The closure of claim 4 wherein the projection is formed on the tear strip, the projection being plastic welded to the top surface of the at least one flap or base member.
6. The closure of claim 1 in which at least one of the at least one plastic weld connects the tear strip to the at least one flap on the upper surface of the at least one flap near the front edge thereof.
7. The closure of claim 1 in which the closure provides three dispensing openings, three flaps for individually closing the dispensing openings, and wherein the tear strip has plastic welds to at least two of the flaps.
8. The closure of claim 1 in which the base member has a peripheral shoulder for providing a stacking ledge, and wherein the tear strip has a profile which is shouldered to provide a stacking rim.
9. The closure of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of flaps.
10. The closure of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of plastic welds.
11. A closure for a container; the closure being a single molded plastic unit and comprising in combination:
a base member constructed to close an

open end of an associated container, the base member having at least one dispensing opening formed therein;
at least one flap joined to the base member at a hinge line along one edge of the base, the flap being positioned to close the dispensing opening, and when closed, having a front edge which is opposite to the hinge line;
a tear strip formed on an edge of the base opposite the hinge line and connected to the base by at least one frangible web, the tear strip hinging about the frangible web to a position overlying the front edge of the flap; and
at least one plastic weld for connecting the overlying edge of the tear strip to the flap to provide a tamper evident feature, wherein a central region of the closure being raised into a plateau portion having a top surface formed by the combination of the base and the at least one flap, the tear strip at least partially overlap in and welded to the to surface, wherein the at least one plastic weld includes a first weld between the tear strip and the at least one flap and a second weld between the tear strip and the base, whereby the tear strip is welded both to the at least one flap and the base.
12. A closure for a container; the closure being a single molded plastic unit and comprising in combination;
a base member constructed to close an open end of an associated container, the base member having at least one dispensing opening formed therein;
at least one flap joined to the base member at a hinge line along one edge of the base, the flap being positioned to close the dispensing opening, and when closed, having a front edge which is opposite to the hinge line;
a tear strip formed on an edge of the base opposite the hinge line and connected to the base by at least one frangible web, the tear strip hinging about the frangible web to a position overlying the front edge of the flap; and
at least one plastic weld for connecting the overlying edge of the tear strip to the flap to provide a tamper evident feature, wherein a central region of the closure being raised into a plateau portion having a top surface formed by the combination of the base and the at least one flap, the tear strip at least partially overlapping and welded to the top surface, wherein the tear strip has a non-hinged right angled bend positioned proximate a front edge of the at least one flap and spaced from said hinging.
13. A closure for a container; the closure being a single molded plastic unit and comprising in combination;
a base member constructed to close an open end of an associated container, the base member having at least one dispensing opening formed therein;
at least one flap joined to the base member at a hinge line along one edge of the base, the flap being positioned to close the dispensing opening, and when closed, having a front edge which is opposite to the hinge line;
a tear strip formed on an edge of the base opposite the hinge line and connected to the base by at least one frangible web, the tear strip hinging about the frangible web to a position overlying the front edge of the flap; and
at least one plastic weld for connecting the overlying edge of the tear strip to the flap to provide a tamper evident feature, wherein a central region of the closure being raised into a plateau portion having a top surface formed by the combination of the base and the at least one flap, the tear strip at least partially overlapping and welded to the top surface, wherein the tear strip has an extending strip portion overlying the at least one flap, the extending strip portion having a rear edge facing rearwardly toward the hinge line, and tab section projecting rearwardly from the extended strip portion toward the hinge line.
14. The closure of claim 13, further comprising a beveled surface formed into the tab section of the tear strip and facing the at least one flap, the beveled surface facilitating manual manipulation under the tab section to facilitate removal.

1. Apparatus comprising:
an automated banking machine,
wherein the automated banking machine includes a card data reader device,
wherein the reader device is operative to read imaged card data corresponding to a customer account number and a second number which differs from the customer account number,
wherein the reader device is operative to read imaged card data while the imaged card data is located outside of the automated banking machine,
at least one computer,
wherein the at least one computer is operative to generate a random number,
wherein the at least one computer is in operative connection with the reader device,
wherein subsequent to imaged card data reading operation of the reader device, the at least one computer is operative to determine the customer account number and the second number corresponding to the read imaged card data,
wherein the at least one computer is operative to determine whether the second number corresponds to the random number,
wherein subsequent to customer account number determining operation of the at least one computer, the automated banking machine is operative to carry out a transaction involving the customer account number.
2. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the at least one computer is operative to determine whether the second number corresponds to the random number, within a predetermined time period.
3. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein responsive to a positive determination of the second number corresponding to the random number, the at least one computer operates to determine a customer account number from the imaged card data read with the reader device.
4. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the automated banking machine includes a display device, wherein the automated banking machine is operative to display the random number via the display device, enabling view of the random number by a user of the automated banking machine.
5. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the reader device is operative to read an encrypted image including both a customer account number and the random number.
6. The apparatus according to claim 5 wherein the encrypted image comprises a bar code.
7. The apparatus according to claim 5 and further comprising a mobile phone including at least one phone computer, wherein the phone is operative to generate the encrypted image.
8. The apparatus according to claim 7 wherein the phone includes a phone display screen, wherein the phone is operative to display the encrypted image on the phone display screen, wherein the encrypted image includes the imaged card data.
9. The apparatus according to claim 7 wherein the reader device is operative to read the encrypted image on the phone display screen while the display screen is positioned adjacent to and facing the reader device.
10. The apparatus according to claim 8 wherein the encrypted image comprises a bar code, wherein the reader device comprises a bar code scanner device, wherein the bar code scanner device is operative to scan a bar code displayed on the phone display screen.
11. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the at least one computer is remotely located from the automated banking machine.
12. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the automated banking machine includes at least one cash dispenser, wherein the automated banking machine is operative to carry out a cash dispense transaction involving both the customer account number and the at least one cash dispenser.
13. The apparatus according to claim 1 and further comprising a mobile phone, wherein the mobile phone includes a phone display screen, and wherein the phone display screen is operative to output the imaged card data, and wherein the reader device is operative to read the imaged card data output from the phone display screen.
14. The apparatus according to claim 13
wherein the mobile phone includes at least one mobile phone input device, wherein the mobile phone is operative to output the imaged card data responsive to at least one phone input through the at least one phone input device,
wherein the at least one phone input corresponds to a selected financial account, wherein the selected financial account corresponds to the customer account number.
15. The apparatus according to claim 1 wherein the imaged card data comprises an image including a two-dimensional bar code.
16. Apparatus comprising:
at least one computer,
wherein the at least one computer is operable to generate different verification codes,
wherein the at least one computer is in operative connection with an image reader operable to read respective images while the respective images are located outside of an automated transaction machine,
wherein the at least one computer is configured to determine whether at least one image
read at a location outside of the automated transaction machine by the image reader,

includes code data that corresponds to a verification code previously generated by the at least one computer,
wherein the at least one computer is operative responsive at least in part to a positive determination, to allow a transaction involving a customer account number that corresponds to account data included in the at least one image, to proceed at the automated transaction machine.
17. The apparatus according to claim 16
wherein the at least one computer is configured to determine whether the at least one image read by the image reader includes the account data that corresponds to the customer account number,
wherein the at least one computer is operative responsive at least in part to a positive determination that the at least one image includes the account data that corresponds to the customer account number, to allow the transaction to proceed.
18. The apparatus according to claim 17
wherein the at least one computer is configured to determine from a read encrypted image, both the code data and the account data.
19. The apparatus according to claim 18 wherein the at least one computer is configured to determine from a read encrypted two-dimensional bar code, both the code data and the account data.
20. The apparatus according to claim 16 wherein the at least one computer is in operative connection with an automated transaction machine, wherein the automated transaction machine includes the image reader and at least one cash dispenser, wherein the image reader is operable to read respective images while the respective images are located outside of the automated transaction machine.
21. The apparatus according to claim 16 wherein the at least one computer is operable to generate random codes, and wherein the verification code comprises a randomly-generated code.
22. The apparatus according to claim 16 and further comprising the automated transaction machine, wherein the automated transaction machine includes the image reader and the at least one computer.
23. Apparatus comprising:
at least one computer,
wherein the at least one computer is configured to determine from an encrypted image read by an image reader of an automated transaction machine, an input code that was previously generated by the at least one computer for customer use in providing a customer account number to the automated transaction machine,
wherein the at least one computer is configured to subsequently use a decryption code that corresponds to the input code determined, to further determine the customer account number from the encrypted image,
wherein the at least one computer is configured to subsequently allow a transaction involving the customer account number determined, to proceed at the automated transaction machine.
24. The apparatus according to claim 23
wherein the at least one computer is configured to determine from an encrypted bar code read by the image reader, both the input code and the customer account number.
25. The apparatus according to claim 23 wherein the at least one computer is operable to generate random codes, and wherein the input code comprises a randomly-generated code.

1. A method for forming bonded substrates, the method comprising:
providing a plurality of substrates, each of the plurality of substrates having a top surface;
determining a characteristic length for each of the plurality of substrates by:
determining a profile of the top surface of the substrate from an interior portion to an edge portion along a radial direction;
determining a highest point of the profile the highest point being higher than the interior portion; and
defining the characteristic length as a distance from the highest point to the edge portion;

selecting a first substrate and a second substrate from the plurality of substrates, at least one of the first and the second substrates having a characteristic length shorter than a predetermined length;
bringing the first substrate and the second substrate into contact, the top surface of the first substrate facing the top surface of the second substrate; and
causing the first and the second substrates to form the bonded substrates.
2. The method of claim 1 wherein the profile of the top surface for each of the plurality of substrates is determined using a surface profiling apparatus.
3. The method of claim 1 wherein the profile of the top surface for each of the plurality of substrates is determined using an atomic force microscope.
4. The method of claim 1 wherein each of the plurality of substrates is a silicon wafer.
5. The method of claim 1 wherein the interior portion is near a center point of the substrate.
6. The method of claim 1 wherein the predetermined length is related to a length of non-bonded edge region.
7. The method of claim 1 wherein the predetermined length is about 1 mm.
8. The method of claim 1 wherein the highest point of the profile is from about 200 nm to about 800 nm above the interior portion.
9. The method of claim 1 wherein the characteristic length is in a range of about 1.5 mm to about 10 mm.
10. The method of claim 1 further comprising applying pressure or pressure and heat to the first and the second substrates.
11. A method for selecting a substrate for forming bonded substrates, the method comprising:
providing a substrate, the substrate having a top surface, the top surface including an interior portion and an edge portion;
determining a profile of the top surface from the interior portion to the edge portion along a radial direction;
determining a highest point of the profile the highest point being higher than the interior portion;
determining a length from the highest point to the edge portion; and
selecting the substrate for bonding with a second substrate to form bonded substrates if the length is less than a predetermined length.
12. The method of claim 11 wherein the profile of the top surface of the substrates is determined using a surface profiling apparatus.
13. The method of claim 11 wherein the profile of the top surface of the substrate is determined using an atomic force microscope.
14. The method of claim 11 wherein the substrate is a silicon wafer.
15. The method of claim 11 wherein the predetermined length is related to a length of non-bonded edge region.
16. The method of claim 11 wherein the interior portion is near a center point of the substrate.
17. The method of claim 11 wherein the highest point of the profile is from about 200 nm to about 800 nm above the interior portion.
18. The method of claim 11 wherein the characteristic length is in a range of about 1.5 mm to about 10 mm.
19. A method for forming bonded substrates having non-bonded edge region shorter than a predetermined edge exclusion length, the method comprising:
determining a target characteristic length based on the predetermined edge exclusion length;
for each of a plurality of substrates determining a characteristic length by:
determining a profile of the top surface of the substrate from an interior portion to an edge portion along a radial direction;
determining a highest point of the profile the highest point being higher than the interior portion; and
defining the characteristic length as a distance from the highest point to the edge portion;

selecting a first substrate and a second substrate from the plurality of substrates, at least one of the first and the second substrates having a characteristic length shorter than the target characteristic length; and
causing the first and the second substrates to form the bonded substrates.
20. The method of claim 19 wherein the each of the substrates is a silicon wafer.
21. The method of claim 19 wherein the target characteristic length is substantially equal to the predetermined edge exclusion length.
22. The method of claim 19 wherein the predetermined edge exclusion length is about 1 mm and the target characteristic length is repeatably in a range from about 1 mm to about 1.5 mm.
